[4206-501B] Picked up my first ever 5. Never Seen This Form.

Saw this on Shopgoodwill and took a $45 gamble (including shipping) on the non-working TV 5.

Hopefully I can clean it up and get it working.

A Beer and One of My Favorite “Saved From The Dustbin” Watches.

The Actus was beat to shit when it arrived from Japan. But I spent way too much money and time restoring it and now it seems like a bargain.

The most surprising thing is the accuracy of the 6106 movement. I haven’t put it on a timegrapher but I’ll be darned if it isn’t bang on with whatever time my iPhone has whenever I check.

The only drawback is it’s a huge pain in the ass to set the day, date and time if I leave it in the watchbox for any length of time.

I Said…. God Damn!

Kurono is killing it! Holy shit.

Too rich for me right now, but I know a bargain when I see one.

Holy shit what a beautiful watch.

Want To Install a Mini Split. Anyone Have Advice?

Summers are getting hotter and last summer was too hot. I tried opening the windows at night and literally hundreds of bugs came in attracted to the lights. So that's out.

I'm originally from Miami and we basically run the AC 24/7/365 I love opening the windows in Bilbao when it's cold, but I can't sleep in the heat!

Google brings these up:

  • MASTERCLIM | Calderas Gas Calefacción | Aire acondicionado | Fontaneros Bilbao
  • Aize-Klima
  • Refrigeración Lerma
  • Bilcoclima S.L
  • DAIKIN Servicio OFICIAL. Aire acondicionado, climatización, ventilación y extracción. Asitur Clima, S.L.

Has anyone used any of these to work in the house?

[Alba Seiko] Another Impulse Gamble.

Picked this up for $16 to add to the package from Buyee. Have no idea if it works or if an exploded battery ripped up the guts.

We shall see! Nice looking chrono. Seiko movement and what looks to be a comfortable bracelet.

Anyone have one of these?

[5J22] Picked Up Something New.

Saw this on Buyee and decided to bid because it looks like it might be titanium. Either way, interested in the movement.

It’s supposed to “go to sleep” and then wake up and set the hands to the correct time when moved.

Won it for $40ish bucks. I’m waiting for a few more auctions to end in hopes of bundling and saving on shipping.

The others are Elnix watches. I’m bidding on a bunch hoping to at least put one working movement together. So far I have two that were destroyed by battery leaks.

Just two more Seikos and the Casios have been kicked to the bottom drawer. Lol.

Still love my Casios but vintage Seiko is addictive.

I was able to clean everything and want to get started with the reassembly (despite losing the retaining clip of the cap jewel assembly...sigh).

Once my parts movement arrives, I can start reassembling. My questions are:

  1. Is the balance wheel OK like that? I don't have any other place to store it.

  2. I only have Moebius Quartz Oil (9000). Is that good enough? I want to avoid spending hundreds on greases if I can avoid it. The D5 is like $70! And I see two other ones people use that also seem to cost almost 100 bucks each.

OK... so I took my Elnix apart and now I have to clean the thing. All I have is a few petrie dishes, some Naptha and 99% IPA. I was thinking to dunk everything in the Naptha except the circuit board, which I will only use IPA to clean. After the rest of the stuff gets the Naptha bath, I rinse in the IPA and let the whole mess dry overnight.

Also pegging the jewels while it's in the Naptha.

Anything I'm forgetting?

I'm trying to disassemble an Elnix 0703A movement, and no matter what I do, I can't pull the stem out.

Is there some trick?

I pull out the stem to reveal the little tab that pops out next to it, then push down. That's supposed to release the stem, but nope. It won't budge. I've started taking it apart inside the case in hopes of revealing something corroded or otherwise strange looking, but nothing looks off.

Did someone downvote the question? WTF is wrong with people?

Perfect match for my Ali case! Feels very good on the wrist. Not a flimsy bracelet at all.

Bought a box of watchmaking tools for $50 and these were in it. Can anyone tell me what they are used for?

New to watchmaking.

Bought a big watch lot and buried in the depths was this super nice 20 year old Casio Edifice.

Threw a new battery in and it’s been keeping time and working flawlessly for months.

Has a very Seiko look and feel to it. Very dressy compared to the sporty modern ones.
