do you rebuy the same cart, or is everyone just chasing whatever is new?

been buying carts here about two years and i noticed i almost never buy the same one twice. i just grab whatever looks new that week, get let down, then do it again. curious whether people here have a go to they actually rebuy, or whether the market moves too fast for that to even be possible. what have you bought more than three times?

does Lincoln require a municipal business license for single-family rentals?

I'm looking at single-family properties near the airport corridor and want to make sure I comply with all local housing regulations. Does Placer County or the city require non-owner-occupied registration and safety inspections prior to tenant move-in?

dentist said I have bone loss around my teeth - need a periodontist

so i went in for what i thought was just a routine cleaning and my dentist casually mentioned there's some bone loss around a couple of my teeth and i should probably see a periodontist 😩

i left the appointment in a complete panic honestly. she didn't really explain what it means, how serious it is, what happens if i leave it, nothing. just handed me a referral and that was that

now i'm home googling bone loss and deeply regretting it lol. i have no idea if this is a big deal or something pretty common and manageable

anyone in Cobble Hill or nearby seen a periodontist they trust? really need someone who'll actually sit down and explain what's going on rather than just rushing me into treatment 🙏

Top alternatives to Datagrip

Been using DataGrip for a while, but the cost is getting harder to justify when I only use a fraction of what it offers. My setup is pretty mixed: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and some MySQL.

I keep seeing DBeaver, DbVisualizer and TablePlus mentioned as alternatives. DBeaver seems like the obvious one, but DbVisualizer caught my attention since it seems geared more toward mixed database environments.

Main things I care about are a good SQL editor/autocomplete, multiple connections without things getting sluggish, and not having to switch tools depending on the database.

For anyone who's moved away from DataGrip, what did you end up using and how has it held up?

Recommendations for a roof repair company in Barrington?

Hey everyone, hoping to get some help from fellow Barrington homeowners.

After the recent storms we had come through the area I noticed some missing shingles and what looks like water staining on my ceiling in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Pretty sure I've got some damaged flashing around the chimney as well. Nothing catastrophic yet but I want to get someone out before it turns into a bigger problem heading into fall.

Looking for a roofing company in the Barrington area that does repairs, not just full replacements. I just need someone honest who will assess the damage and fix what actually needs fixing.

If you've had roof repair work done in Barrington or the surrounding northwest suburbs, who did you use and would you recommend them?

How are people earning interest on USDC these days?

I used to trade on Coinbase for a few years, but recently stopped due to irl stuff, so now I'm sitting on a chunk of USDC doing nothing. Coinbase currently pays me a little over 3% just for holding it, which is fine, but it feels like the floor tbh.

People keep telling me I would get more by putting it into AAVE, Morpho, or Moonwell. From what I understand, that means:

  • Install another wallet, Rabby or Metamask, and look after a seed phrase
  • Move the USDC over
  • Pick a market and approve it
  • Deposit
  • Then keep half an eye on it, because the rate moves with how much people are borrowing

Two things put me off. I don't want four dashboards and another set of keys to worry about, and I'm not comfortable with the part where my money goes out to borrowers I can't see.

So what are people actually using to earn interest on USDC they're not planning to touch? Happy to take a smaller number for something I can leave alone.
