Did season 3 increase or decrease your interest for the show

Overall, I would say decrease. After season 2 I was still excited about season 3 but after season 3 I find much less interest in it.

Maybe because my favourite character is Aemond and he has been butchered to the point of no return. He is not very interesting to watch, and I really dislike the entire Alys thing. Even though I have read the book, what they have done is just...abhorrent.

It is a shame because I love TG characters and they are actually given slightly more screentime this season to tell their own stories, but the writing is so bad that the screentime just generates more unnecessary and nonsensical content.

Now that I look back at S1/2 Aemond, I can barely recognize him anymore

His change from S1 to S2 is not as drastic from S2 to S3, not in a very good way.

Urgh I miss war criminal Aemond era. Lover boy Aemond is just so boring and weird and unnecessary.

I know what the problem is with the Alysmond arc

I found their book! relationship boring when reading it (maybe cuz I really wanted Aemond to be a warlord from beginning to end and felt sad when he got trapped in a limbo just before God's Eye). I thought the show could make it better, but lol...look at what we have now. Still cannot believe how I went from being super excited about Alys Rivers (I always love witches and magical powers in a fantasy setting!) and their potential relationship, to now absolutely hating and loathing anytime they are on screen (yes, I was a hard-core Aemond fan, season 3 tho...challenged my devotion).

Anyways, I thought about why their relationship does not work, and I think it is mainly because of how they wrote Alys's motive. They somehow made her relationship with Aemond centered upon getting Harrenhal and a Targ baby so that she can hatch those stupid eggs (which are not mentioned in the book at all). Putting whether it is book canon or not aside, they have made a potential dark, twisted romance into a transactional thing. Alys is supposed to be this mysterious, magical witch woman, now she looks more like a gold digger and a creepy middle aged woman who traps and grooms (and rapes?) a young prince for her materialistic goals.

While watching E5, I quite liked where Alys told Aemond she is a grieving mother, after he told her how he thinks Alicent does not love him enough. It could have been much better if, building on Aemond's mommy issue and oedipus complex (given they are dead on insisting upon this already), Aemond is genuinely attracted to Alys because she is a mommy substitute. And for Alys, she loves him because at first he reminds her of her dead children (and so she has a chance to mother a child). Slowly she loves him as a lover/romantic partner. This could be weird, romantic and twisted (in a way the showrunners love it because there is some mommy-son dynamics and Aemond's love interests always cross the line between mother and son anyways). They can even incorporate those Alicent/Aemond stuff to provide context.

Now there is this weird Alicent insertion, and whenever Alys is there she keeps talking about Targ heirs, ruling Harrenhal and dragon eggs. All mystery, twisted Gothic vibe gone. The baby is supposed to be an end-product to their romance, not the starting point or motive from the beginning. That is what ruined this relationship.

I always feel sad when I think about how the "mutual respect" bubble can be broken so easily

No matter how "respect for women" is promoted or taught, women are at the mercy of men after all.

From a woman's perspective, there really is not anything to stop men from going back to such state (and the things that follow like violence, SA) except "I hope this man is educated and mature". There is no hard and one-off method of ensuring complete protection for women against this imbalanced biological reality. On the other hand, men can easily impose control and threat upon a woman by leveraging their undeniably natural biological advantages, whenever they want, by simply abandoning the needs to uphold morality, respect etc.

For women, the deepest layer of their fears and sufferings are imposed by unchangeable biological reality (e.g. being physically weaker, bearer of the pains of everything related to childbearing). Whereas at most the fears and sufferings of men are imposed by society (patriarchy, capitalism), which can be changed and rectified.

Whenever I think about it, I feel like women are really the gender getting short end of the stick 💔

I have such body anxiety during my period

Like on some good days in the month I look okay thin, but whenever my period is around my abdomen becomes swollen and I feel uncomfortable. It looks like I am pregnant 🤢🤢

Why do Americans glorify cheerleading so much?

In my culture we do not have this obsession with cheerleading. Whenever I look at those cheerleading girls, I see nothing but objectification and sexualising of women to appeal to men. The fact that they promote it so much in media and have teenagers participate is baffling.

Round-up of Aemond's life

What he did:

- studied history and philosophy

- studied the blade

- tourneys (? Idk how much to believe Aegon's words)

- claimed Vhagar

- got into a fight with his nephews

- Strong toast

- helped with Aegon's coronation

- killed Luke by accident

- attempted murder of Aegon at Rook's Rest, killed Rhaenys

- became prince regent

- forced Helaena to go to Harrenhal

- went to Harrenhal and burnt the place + killed Simon Strong and his sons

- kissed his mother

- dreamt of fucking his mother

What he suffered:

- bullying his entire life (pre and post driftmark)

- disfigured and his eye gauged out by his nephews

- raped at 13, emotional and sexual trauma

- emotional grooming, incest and parentification since 10

- PTSD from killing Luke

- went back to his abuser despite her creepiness, then publicly humiliated for it

- told he would die by his sister

- emotionally manipulated by Alicent to go to Harrenhal knowing he dies there

- stabbed in the kidney, followed up fever, sepsis, nightmares, constant unconsciousness

- taken hostage by weird creepy witch, isolated from allies and Vhagar and forced to stay (against his will? Dubious consent)

- kissed the witch under dubious context (it was kind coercive)

- hallucinated fucking his mother, traumatized by it

- raped by the witch at 19 (again)

- traumatized and confused about reality and dream, sick of his favourite person - his mother

- thought his mother loved him but in fact got poisoned by her

The love triangle thing is fucking ridiculous

I will start off by saying I am gonna dissociate and pretend whatever happened in HH last episode did not in fact happen.

As a person who liked Aemond's brothel scenes last season and accepted even the vision he had with his mother (yes including the oedipal fueled sex scene), I dislike the fact that they push this "love triangle" thing. I can accept exploring Aemond's oedipus complex, his trauma, Alicent's guilt for betraying her children and Alys's ambition/scheme, but definitely not this.

There is no love. If you see his relationships with both "mommies", one who tries to kill him and another who tries to manipulate/trap/SA/cage him, as "love" you are fucked up. They turned a character's trauma, potential sexual assault, a mother's betrayal and a witch's grooming/manipulation into a comedic family parody. A funny banter between mother, boyfriend and girlfriend. This is just stupid, like the worst writing ever in the series. I am not talking about GOT standard (that is already out of the window) but worse than any sensible script which minimal depth. The fact that they happily promote this as if this is a fun arc really icks me.

I tried to enjoy and justify these scenes (starting from Aemond's arc in HH in E2, which have been quite badly written tbh) until this dinner part. I just cannot with how ridiculous the whole thing is. Nobody addressed what happened in Aemond's vision, or what Alys did in the sex scene, or Alicent's guilt. I just...what even is going on??

That's it guys, I liked the other characters' arcs so I would watch the finale, but please wake me up again when Aemond finally leaves this shit castle because I am out regarding the HH plot. Whatever the fuck that is.

Can we talk about how these two are the most sexualised/sexually humiliated in the show?

I have watched the show since season 2 (went to watch season 1 after season 2), and now I am watching season 3. What I have noticed is how much **Alicent** has been sexualised and sexually humiliated over the course the three seasons: child marriage, marital rape by Viserys I, foot scene, sex with Cole before B&C, sex with Cole during B&C, sex with Cole after B&C, Aemond kissing her, attempted rape by Jasper, now it seems like >!we will see her kissed by Aemond again in a hallucination!<.

Although some people see him as a sexual abuser, **Aemond** is also very sexualised and/or sexually humiliated since season 1, a close second to Alicent imo: uncomfortable exchange with the Madam in S1E9 (implied CSA), two disturbing nude scenes with the Madam (including allegedly a breastfeeding scene which got cut) despite being an implied CSA victim, kissing his mother (severe oedipus complex and victim of circumstantial incest/emotional incest), his entire arc/sexual dynamics with Alys (which seems, at least to some extent, coercive to me), and now it seems he is >!gonna hallucinate kissing his mother again, and have a very very weird mommy kink fueled sex scene with Alys next episode.!<

I acknowledge that there are other sexually humiliating/uncomfortable scenes with other characters, however the most extreme and disturbing ones always involve these two. It does not help that some parts of the fandom objectify and sexualise these two characters/actors.

It just makes me feel bad for the actors (and the characters also).

My reactions after the leaks

Alys and Alicent: I'm literally gonna get violent. Slit the throats of these useless annoying bitches

Aemond: I am sorry but get your shit together and fucking find Vhagar. I am not above castrating him at this point if it means his mommy thing will stop.

u/Solomaxxing_112 — 22 days ago

Get him out of Harrenhal

F*ck Alys. F*ck Alicent. Both "mommies" want nothing but drain the hell out of this guy until he dies. I wish he could be his own man next episode, when both women are in front of him. Choose yourself Aemond, find Vhagar and participate in the war.

Sometimes I think about how cool I found Alicent and Aemond in Season 1

I LOVED season 1 Alicent when she was yelling at Teen Aegon about how he is the threat simply by living and breathing, how she pulled out Viserys's dagger to avenge Aemond. I also constantly think about (now more than ever having seen what happens in HH so far with Aemond's arc) season 1 Aemomd. The coolest guy who said that badass "strong" speech, delivered the banger "Tis I the younger brother" monologue and the one who slayed the whole Storm's End sequence.

What have they done really...and now we are seeing Alicent in HH next episode with Aemond continues dealing with his emphasized-enough mommy/oedipus complex.

I am officially bored of this canon ship

I know some people find them romantic, I just don't. They are so boring, how could you turn the coolest guy with the coolest dragon in this show a Wattpad boyfriend. 😭😭 they have little chemistry and he literally keeps wanting to leave and find Vhagar.

Like leave him alone woman, he is gonna die anyways. If you want a baby, then fuck him once and let him be. I want Aemond to find Vhagar asap and do some damage.

Don't get me started on Alicent's plot next episode 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

u/Solomaxxing_112 — 24 days ago

These two have better chemistry than the canon ones

Gwayne is really the highlight of episode 6 (Freddie Fox yay)! The interactions he has with Ormund and Daeron are interesting, and he and Ormund have more chemistry in one apology scene than the other two canon pairings we see, who literally kiss 🫠🫠🫠

All the time we thought Aemond gave her the egg

So you are telling me, he gets the coolest dragon, the coolest look, hardcore sword fighting, sapphire eye, and now a goth mommy with magical powers who showers him with love and comfort and who provides and woos him with dragon eggs and promises a future and takes care of his life, in this haunted castle without anybody in the middle of a civil war

🙃🙃🙃I am a young woman but Aemond you are living my dream life.

He is like a princess locked in a tower

The classic Disney trope of a royal princess locked up and held hostage in a dark spooky tower by an evil witch. Except this is a prince, and he is going to fall in love with the witch.

**oh wait isn't that kind of the same as Beauty and the Beast**

Theory about Helaena, Aegon and Aemond

It is kinda the case already that Helaena - Maelor arc will be changed, and Martin claimed that she will die for a different reason. There was a leak saying the show will confirm the Dragon X Gene Theory, basically meaning women dragonriders have the ability to hatch dragons.

Currently, both Helaena's brothers do not have their dragons - Sunfyre is unconscious, Vhagar has seemingly abandoned Aemond.

Do you think she will die summoning these two dragons back to her brothers. Her death has some magical/symbolic power in it so that it wakes up both dragons and connect them back to their riders. Her death essentially goes parallel with Aegon and Aemond's getting back Sunfyre and Vhagar.
