How do universities equate grades? Do they really see 8 and 9 as the same as A*?

Hi guys,

Just got my gcse results today and fair to say I'm not happy with some of them. So I wanted to ask if universities really see an 8 equal to a 9 as an A*?

Because I know some people's schools do letter grades ,not numbers, so I wanted to know if this is actually true. Are 6s and 7s really bad in the eyes of prestigious unis like Warwick and King's College? I know they definitely are for Oxbridge

AIO for asking a gym employee to ask someone to turn down their loud music?

Hi guys,

I'm at the gym rn while I'm writing this but today, I was doing a set on the Smith Machine and next to me there was this guy, who suddenly started playing really loud music.

So for context, I have seen the guy around at the gym before and he has done this before so I think this is just a habit of his. He has gotten told to stop before by the gym employees.

I do wear my headphones, which are decent at noise cancelation, and I was playing music at full volume. However, his music was SO loud that I could still hear it overpower mine that was playing right in my ears.

So after a minute of waiting to see if he would turn it down of his own accord, I went to an employee and asked her politely if there was any way she could speak to him about toning the music down or stopping. She did so after a minute and then he went to another room in the gym. Later, I saw a guy (let's call him guy 2) talking to him and when I came into the room guy 1 was in, he turned around to look right at me as if he knew I was the one, who told the employee, and I feel a bit bad.

Guy 2 had seen me talking to the employee but Guy 1 hadn't so I think Guy 2 told him, not sure though.

So reddit, AIO?

Guys what are your best makeup tips for prom??

Hi guys,

I'm 16F and I'm looking to do a glam makeup look for prom. I must admit I'm very new to glam makeup since I normally go for a very natural base and eyeliner. I want to do a smoky eye but I am very bad at it since I don't get how to do it properly.

Unfortunately, since I'm a teenager I have a tight budget so any affordable products would be very welcome or any hacks you used to do as a teen.

I already have a good concealer but I don't use any foundation and currently don't have any, so any recs for that are very highly needed (I was thinking maybe elf halo glow). Also I need recs for setting powder/loose powder (maybe maybelline fit me?), brow products (I don't want a feathery look or laminated, just something to give a tint and hold up), fake lashes (maybe Ardell ones), also fake nails (I like almond nails preferably with burgundy details), also any nail or lash glue.

I also desperately need help with contouring guys cuz idk how tf people do it. I've watched tutorials on placements but i still have no idea how to blend it out properly. I have the NYX contour stick. Is there like a specific brush that you need or does it only look good when you put powder or smth pls helppp

I have attached pictures of my dress and the type of nails I kinda like. I have a gold clutch and gold heels and am probably going to have a blowout as my hair.

Also I am a brown girlie, guys, so pls no ashy recs. The concealer shade I use from Superdrug's range is called 10 buttermilk if that helps. I am a shade 4N in the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer (this product was gifted and I cannot afford products in the price range so please don't think this is what I mean by affordable).

AITA for telling my dad to keep his thoughts inside his head?

Hi guys,

I (16F) was cooking dinner just now and while that was happening my dad (42M) and my brother (11M) were watching a cricket match.

While they were watching, my dad noticed that the umpire, who was a woman, seemed to have what looked like excess hair growth beneath her chin sort of like a beard which is what he called it. He pointed it out loudly to both me and my brother multiple times and after a minute, I decided to call him out on it and tell him that it was likely that the woman had PCOS or a similar hormonal condition which led to the hair growth. He kept repeating along the lines that it was strange and that he had never seen it before and it seemed very masculine. I then told him that it's a negative comment and that he should refrain from saying that because it's not nice to make comments like that repeatedly about the woman's appearance. I was also afraid that my younger brother would get influenced by this as he is impressionable and looks up to my dad.

The thing is I might not have said something if he has just noticed it and moved on but it really bothered me how he kept going on about it and made me, my brother and even my grandma look at the umpire when she came on screen, likely to agree with his comments. I explained PCOS to him as he didn't know but then said he just thought it was strange but his tone suggested otherwise to me, almost mocking. I was kinda upset by this because we get told about this at length in school and I know that PCOS is out of control for women and that comments like this can be really detrimental to those who hear them. I told him when he was closer to me when my brother couldn't hear, that he should not say this out loud and "keep it inside his head". He then proceeded to have a row with me about not parenting him and that I am not so morally superior myself. I acknowledged this and said I was trying but his negative comments weren't nice. He said that it was really rude of me to say to keep it inside his head and to be honest I do think maybe it was. I said in response that I only said this because he said it multiple times and I explained multiple times before saying to keep those thoughts inside his head. In our culture, elders are to be respected and my dad adheres really strictly to that but I sometimes feel that it's not fair when the elder says something wrong. I also felt like he kinda put the situation back onto me by saying that by saying something like this, I must be perfect in all other areas as well and not ever be rude.

So Reddit, AITA?

Would you pay more for waxing if you felt no pain?

Hey guys,

I know this is a bit random and maybe a little stupid but I was just thinking about how much easier it would be for me and the person waxing me if I was anaesthetized or something similar.

I feel like I would genuinely pay more for this service especially if I'm getting my whole body done not just arms and legs.

What about you?

Edit: for the people saying to not do waxing if I can't handle the pain, I'm good thanks, I've been doing it for a decade so I'm well versed and I hate shaving. This was just an interesting question for me, not an invitation for you to tell me that waxing isn't for me.

Also I've reconsidered anaesthesia - perhaps some other kind of pain numbing??

I do have an okay pain threshold and I've never felt pain for more than like 15 minutes in sensitive areas but sometimes when I go for appointments, they decide to have two members of staff simultaneously waxing so that gets a bit too uncomfortable for me pain wise.

This post was just a random thought I was having, not something i truly thought would be possible to an extent.
