If I do ipl on my bikini area and just trimmed the hair with scissors as short as I can will it work?
Personally I don’t want to shave it so I’m wondering if this works and if anyone else has done it before?

I'm a 22-year-old femboy from India with a medium to tan complexion. I've been using Braun Silk Pro 5 IPL on my face for two weeks to remove my beard. I know it's early, but I'm also considering professional laser treatment for better results. If anyone has experience with facial beard removal using IPL or laser, please share your insights. Should I wait and see if IPL works, or go for professional laser?
So when you do ipl hair removal are you just supposed to be hairy until it starts working? Like you can’t wax, what do you do with the slow regrowth in the meantime. It lowkey looks bad
When I use it will the hair actually be removed or does it just kill the follicle? If it doesn’t remove the hair then what hair removal method can you do after?
Not sure if this is quite the place for this, but I kinda totally forgot about my Braun 5 pro after using it once monthsss ago. Basically, it triggered an eczema flare up for me, and so I haven’t touched it since 😭 I know these are generally well tolerated, and you can still use it if you’re eczema-prone if you’re careful, but I’m thinking I’ll just switch my hair removal method to be safe. (My skin has always been super sensitive and dumb)
But yeah! I can’t return it atp, and I’m moving in 2 days, so I kinda just want this off my hands.
I still have the original case, the manuals, and all attachments and devices! I only used 1 of the heads, I didn’t touch anything else, everything’s been cleaned. I just didn’t know where to go for this lol :,)
Is there pain expected? A zap? With my IPL device it feels like a mild tap, but I have doubts about it actually being effective. No one had any experience with Dreame IPL so approaching it from this angle now.
EDIT: CLOSED! 🥳 it has been picked up by someone. thank you!!
Mods pls be gentle with me 😭 Got this last year of August and was very excited to use it, but got diagnosed with eczema. I havent used any of the other three attachments. Only used for like 5 times and then was stored in my cabinet 😭 Pls DM me for details! US only
So, I see a lot of people on here raving about IPL. My question is, why?
You still have to shave beforehand, which means you’re still dealing with that horrible spikey, hair under the skin feeling, ingrowns, razor bumps, stubble, etc etc.
Over time, are the results similar to waxing? Does the stubbly, hair under the root feeling go away eventually? And regrowth slow? So you can shave less?
And does anyone know if there’s a big difference between professional vs at home ipl?
I don’t mean any of this in a rude way I’m genuinely just curious :)
This isn't a super in-depth post about my experience with the Braun Pro5, but I wanted to post this bc I see so much hype about the device. I bought a Braun Pro5 about a year ago and used it on my armpits, lower stomach, and bikini/brazilian area consistently for about three months. Then my device stopped flashing properly and I had to get it replaced. I was like, okay, cool, this is within the 100-day warranty. So I got it replaced. And then the replacement suddenly stopped flashing just after the 100-day window. Looking back, I absolutely should have gotten the 5-year warranty. That's on me. But also, the devices shouldn't just stop working after 3-4 months. It's not like I used them on large areas of my body, either.
As for my results: I would say I had about a 60% decrease in hair in my bikini/brazilian area, 80% in my armpits, and nearly 100% on my lower stomach. I'm basically back to square one now. I'm struggling again with my ingrowns, so I'd love any recs for IPL devices that will last. I also have some dark marks from digging out super deep ingrowns in my bikini area (ik that's bad but these were DEEP and left over from waxing; that's a whole other story lol) and I'm hoping that IPL could help with that. Honestly, rn I'm mostly concerned with the dark marks; I'm using tretinoin, topicals faded, benzoyl peroxide wash, and a salycilic acid toner. Sounds like a lot but my skin isn't irritated. Is there any way I can get these marks to fade within a couple months?
This post is a little all over the place, so thank you in advance for any and all advice!
Ignore the vape
Hi guys, not sure if this is the right thread but i have a wax appointment for the 31st, do you think it will last me 3 weeks? i’m not too experienced at waxing thanks!
So I’ve been a sugar waxer for a while now… I’ve just been making my own wax with Sugar, water, and lemon and it works amazing. My legs always feel so smooth and clean. But recently I’ve picked up epilation as sugar waxing is a bit time consuming and I haven’t really had the motivation to wax as of late. Tried it, and fell in love with how easy it was to epilate my underarms and such. And doing my legs was definitely painful but manageable.
However, I’ve noticed that the after result of epilating my legs aren’t as smooth as sugar waxing. I can understand if I accidentally snapped a few hairs, but the overall texture of my legs feels bumpy rather than smooth and I’ve been doing my due diligence with exfoliating and such. Is that normal? Or did I do something wrong? If I did, what are some tips to do it better so that next time it isn’t this way?
Since my first time epilating, I’ve just been using my machine as maintenance to pluck loose hairs. The epilator I’m using is the braun silk epil 7
I have hair on my arms and I have been bleshing them for year, but they started to grow a lot so I had to trim them a bit and that's when they started growing darker!! Now when I bleach them, after 2 weeks I need to bleach them again because you can see the dark hair growing.
I don't want to use laser hair removal because that means I will have to shave my arms and it takes a lot of time and sessions to see a result and having to shave my arms and getting darker hair is not a process I want to experience.
Any thoughts about VANIQA? or those oils/creams that stop hair growth?
It isn’t even that painful.
But strip-waxing legs is genuinely the most annoying thing. You rip off the wax, and theres wax on your hands and legs, and multiple hairs left over. Dont even get me started on waxing the calf.
I am really trying to get into waxing as opposed to shaving, seems better. But shaving is just so much easier in the short term.
Decent Hair removal creams are too expensive to lather on legs.
Any advice???
I bought a used Ulike Air 10 from a friend. She showed me that she originally purchased it from Amazon, and the device looks legitimate. It powers on, the light flashes, and everything seems to work normally.
However, after using it for about a week, I'm starting to wonder if it might be counterfeit or defective. I have pale skin and naturally black hair, which should be a good combination for IPL treatment. I've tested it on several areas, including a spot on my leg where I can clearly see the dark hair follicles through my skin, but I haven't noticed any changes at all.
I know results can take time, but I'm concerned because I'm not seeing any signs that the treatment is affecting the hair. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to tell if a Ulike device is counterfeit, or could there be another reason it's not working?
Hi everyone!
I’m thinking about doing a Brazilian wax at home instead of going to a salon, but I’m honestly a little nervous and have no idea where to start.
I’d love some advice from people who’ve actually done it themselves.
A few questions:
● What type of wax works best (hard wax or soft wax)?
● Any brands you’d recommend?
● How do you make it hurt less?
● What’s the best prep before waxing?
● Any aftercare tips to avoid ingrown hairs or irritation?
● Are there any beginner mistakes I should avoid?
If you’ve been doing your own Brazilian wax at home, I’d really appreciate any tips, hacks, or lessons you learned the hard way. Thanks in advance! 💛
Hey everyone!
I recently started doing at-home IPL treatments, which I need to do once a week.
My usual skincare routine heavily relies on Glycolic Acid and Azelaic Acid. I know that combining actives with IPL too closely is a one-way ticket to chemical burns, irritation, or hyperpigmentation, so I want to be incredibly careful with my scheduling.
For those of you who use a home IPL device and also use chemical exfoliants/actives:
-How many days before and after your IPL session do you pause your GA and AA?
-What does your weekly schedule look like? (e.g., Do you cycle them, or completely stop actives for 48 hours pre/post-treatment?)
-Have you experienced any irritation, and what are your best tips for keeping the skin barrier safe?
Would love to hear your experiences and routines!
Thanks in advance^^
