Hello everyone.

I've been working in CyberSecurity, namely GRC, for a year.

I come from a Data Science and CyberSec background. (I have a master's degree in Linguistic Data Science and another one in CyberSecurity)

While working in GRC I came across DPIA and some small data privacy related compliance projects: well, it turned out I really like working with privacy.

Do you reckon it's possible to pivot to this field without a law degree? I am willing to invest time and money and take the CIPP/E certification to try and have at least a bit of credibility.

Is it getting saturated? I see a lot of job opening even here in Italy, but 90% of them ask for a law background :'(

Data Privacy, or working with GDPR etc is something I really really like on a personal level.

As far as I can see, here in Europe they mostly ask for a law background (which I don't have). Is there any success story here without having a law degree? How hard is it to pivot from GRC to Data Privacy in general?

Non vorrei sembrare un cultore del posto fisso, ma ora sto facendo le ossa in consulenza (non Big4) e molti clienti sono banche e assicurazioni.

Beh, non mi pare facciano una brutta vita, e sto valutando di spostarmi in futuro in ambienti simili (soprattutto per il WLB e la possibilità di smart).

Come è lavorare in queste realtà? Contate che io sto nel lato normativo/governance della Cybersecurity.

Domanda seria, non riesco a concepire una possibile verticalizzazione.

Per chi lavora in aziende di consulenza "mirata", come è l'ambiente e il lavoro?

Non parlo di Big4 o grosse realtà più "generalistiche", però se magari venite da quell'ambiente e potete fare un paragone mi farebbe piacere sentirvi.

Ho appena iniziato a lavorare in un MSSP (Managed Security Services Provider), essenzialmente una azienda di consulenza che lavora esclusivamente sulla cybersecurity verso terzi, e sto cercando di capire cosa io debba aspettarmi.

Mi sento come un bambino, era da tanto che non provavo un'emozione di tale genuino entusiasmo verso qualcosa che non fosse di "piacere", sto impazzendo?

Per dare più contesto: tra 20 giorni circa inizierò il mio primo lavoro. Mi sento estremamente speranzoso e contento di fare qualcosa di nuovo e non essere più solamente chino sui libri (anche se sarò chino sui risk assessments, ma vabbè).

Ero stato "pescato" per un progetto di tirocinio attinente alla mia laurea magistrale da Leonardo Labs, ho dovuto rifiutare per questioni amministrative, è una lunga storia.

Sono curioso se mi sia perso qualcosa di particolare o meno, ci sarebbero state possibilità di assunzione? Immagino l'ambiente (al netto della loro idea di innovazione) sia lento.

I know this might be an odd question, but I am starting my first job ever (it's an internship) in a month.

I'd love to read a book which gives good ideas on how to capitalize the time spent in the "learning" phase of work, how to ask questions, how to behave etc. I am very polite with people and I smile and listen, but I don't know the "etiquette" at white collar jobs when it comes to ask information.

Da circa due mesi il mio frigo ha deciso di voler sbarellare e non mantiene la temperatura assegnatagli dal chip, la tiene più bassa, gli alimenti sono semi-ghiacciati nei compartimenti inferiori del frigo.

Ho provato a sbrinarlo e non è servito a niente.

Cosa potrebbe essere? Non me ne intendo molto. Non credo sia la serpentina perché se cambio il programma e metto quello più "alto" effettivamente la temperatura si alza, ma troppo per i miei gusti. Tendenzialmente tengo il frigo a 4° e il freezer a -18°. Con l'impostazione standard dovrebbe stare così ma non va. Con quella più alta va a 7°.

I've recently found out that Kahneman's book has been proved to be presenting some non-factual info and data, the author himself addressed this later on.

I'd like to read a book on somewhat the same themes as "Thinking, Fast and Slow", but more on track with the evolution of the field and with more grounded research.

Is there anything like that around?
