Built-in bra tops are a scam if you have a bigger chest

Why do tops and dresses with “built-in bras” always look so good online and then give absolutely zero support in real life? Every time I try one, it either squishes everything flat or gives me the weirdest shape.

And then I still have to wear a real bra underneath anyway, so now I’ve got two layers fighting each other and everything looks bulky.

Why can't a bra be comfy AND look good?

I've tried so many bras that are actually super comfortable. Like, I can wear them all day and barely notice them.

But then I put on a fitted top and I’m like… yeah, the shape is not it !

And the ones that make my boobs look really good under clothes? Somehow those are always the ones I wanna rip off after a few hours.

So what am I supposed to pick, comfort or shape?? I just want one bra that does both. Is that really too much to ask.

I just realized I've mastered the bra back clasp

Random thought: I remember when I first started wearing bras a few years ago and the back clasp felt impossible. I'd be standing there forever trying to get it hooked.

Now I can do it half asleep on the first try just by feel. Pure muscle memory.

But fresh nails still nerf me a little though lol.😂

What's your biggest minimizer bra struggle?

I ordered another minimizer bra recently because I just wanted my shirts to fit a little better. I put it on, looked in the mirror and had the exact same reaction I've had so many times before. From the side, my bust looks smaller. From the front? Somehow it still looks just as big.

And with some mims, I feel like they don't really reshape anything, they just flatten everything and leave me with a shape I don't love.

I'm curious what everyone else's biggest minimizer bra struggle is. What's the one thing that always disappoints you?

Is the wireless bra sagging thing real?

I've pretty much switched to wireless bras these days because they're just so much more comfortable. After trying a bunch, I finally found a few that actually give me enough support, so I rarely reach for underwires anymore.

The other day, though, I came across someone saying that if you have a larger bust and wear wireless bras all the time, it'll make your breasts sag more over time.

Now I'm wondering if that's actually a thing or just one of those bra myths. For those of you with a larger bust who mostly wear wireless bras, what's your experience been like? Have you noticed any difference over the years, or has it made no difference at all?

Do you prefer bras with thin padding or no padding at all?

I’m kind of stuck in between when it comes to bra padding. I really don’t like padded bras. They always feel a little bulky to me and I prefer a more natural shape.

But when I wear unlined bras, I sometimes feel a little self-conscious about nipple show, especially with thinner tops or certain fabrics.

So I’m curious what everyone else does, do you usually choose bras with thin padding for the extra coverage, or do you just go with unlined bras and not worry about it?

Do you prefer sports bras with hooks or without?

I was shopping for a new sports bra the other day and realized I’m always stuck between two styles: the ones with a back hook closure and the pull-over ones with no hooks. I used to think no-hook sports bras would be more comfortable because there’s nothing digging into your back. But with a larger bust, I also really like being able to adjust the band and get a more secure fit.

The one thing that bothers me about pull-over sports bras is taking them off after a sweaty workout. When the bra is tight and you’re all sweaty, trying to pull it over your head feels like a workout by itself.

At the same time, I’m not sure if back closures actually make a big difference in support or if it’s just personal preference. Some pull-over styles feel super supportive at first, but I wonder if they stretch out faster over time.

For those who wear sports bras regularly, especially with a bigger bust, which style do you prefer?

My bras fit fine at first, but why do I always end up with armpit bulges after a few weeks?

I noticed something while getting dressed the other day. No matter what style of bra I wear (wired, wireless, full coverage, etc.), after wearing it for a few weeks I start getting that extra bulge around my armpit area.

What's weird is that the bras fit fine when I first get them. The band and cups feel right, and my weight hasn’t changed. But after some time, the side area just looks like it’s pushing everything outward.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it usually a sign that the bra needs replacing, or could it be something about the bra shape not working for my body?

Every dress seems to fit either my bust or my waist. Never both.

Recently I went shopping with a friend. Watching us try on dresses was kind of funny because we had completely different problems. Hers was mostly about the fit overall, but I kept running into the same issue over and over. If the bust fit, the waist looked baggy. If the waist fit, the bust was way too tight.

Do you usually size up and get the waist tailored, or any brands recommended?

Does anyone else just not scoop and swoop?

Lately I've been helping people with fittings as part of school. One thing that surprised me is basically 90% of girls don't do scoop and swoop when they put on a bra. Some say it doesn't feel necessary. A few told me they only do it if they're wearing a wired bra.

It made me curious because it seems like scoop and swoop is treated as the correct way to wear a bra. And in my mind, this is told when I was a child. So now I'm wondering... do you actually scoop and swoop every time? If not, why? No judgment at all, I'm genuinely curious if this is more common than people think.

Does anyone else's bra band roll up the second you sit down?

This happened to me again today. I sat down at my desk this morning, and maybe 15 minutes later I could already feel the bottom band rolling up under my boobs.

Then every time I stood up, it was still all bunched up, so I kept doing that awkward little shimmy trying to fix it without obviously sticking my hand down my shirt lol. Wish to find some supportive bras with subtle corset-style boning built in.

Why are bra strap adjusters in the back?

Seriously, is there a reason besides aesthetics?

Adjusting them is such a pain. If I take the bra off, I can never get the length right. If I leave it on, I can barely reach them.

Unless someone is standing behind me helping, it feels impossible to get them adjusted just right. I'm tired of this.

Does anyone else's bra gore never actually tack?

I've measured myself, tried different brands, and I'm pretty confident I'm wearing the right size 32F. The cups seem fine, the band feels snug, nothing is obviously uncomfortable...But the center gore always floats, like it just refuses to sit against my chest.

At this point I'm wondering if it's just how my body is built, or if I'm somehow still buying the wrong bras without realizing it.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Did you end up changing sizes, trying a different bra style, or just accepting that not every bra is going to tack perfectly?

Why are some bra tags STILL sewn inside the bra? Team tagless gang where u at?

It's 2026 and somehow I still got bras that have those scratchy tags sewn right into the inside. They seem fine at first, but after wearing them for a few hours, the tag starts rubbing against my skin and it's all I can think about.

And sure, I can cut the tag off, but half the time it leaves behind a little piece that's somehow even more irritating.

I don't get it. Loads of brands heat-print care labels directly onto fabric now, no tags needed. Am I alone in being so annoyed by this?

Why is washing sports bras such a pain?

Machine wash? Pads get messed up. Hand wash? Pads still get messed up.

Then I have to spend 5 minutes trying to reposition the padding so it doesn't look completely wonky. I swear the most time-consuming part isn't washing the bra, it's fixing it afterward.😩

Off-the-shoulder tops are cute but such a struggle for full busts

Got an off-the-shoulder top that shows one bra strap, I planned for it, but still feel self-conscious or weird wearing it out. It’s not feeling awkwar, it’s just that the style of the straps completely clashes with the top.

I’m obsessed with the style for summer, but pairing them with bras is always a headache. My straps are pretty wide for bigger bust support, they just don’t look as subtle or cute as the thin ones. Strapless options either slip down or lack enough support for a bigger bust.

Do you guys have any go-to solutions?

Bra brands cutting corners on band?!

New bra same usual size, band way too snug. Measured flat, 2 inches smaller than marked.

I even pulled out older bras from the exact same brand to compare, their bands run true to size too. I’m tired of the lazy “it’s stretch fabric” excuse. Two whole inches is way beyond normal stretch allowance. Why cut corners on such a basic core part of a bra, especially for big boobs?

Nothing beats yanking my bra off the second I get home

Honestly, even my big boobs are so heavy, no matter how many comfy bras and great brands pop up lately, nothing tops ripping my bra off the second I step inside my front door. Underwire and padded styles especially? Getting those off is actual heaven. Instant relief every single time.

BF called my pink lace grandma's bra

I was mad TBH😡 Has your SO ever mocked your bra color choices? My daily bras are normally black or nude. I picked up a cute pink lace set recently and my boyfriend immediately teased me, claims it’s identical to his grandma bras.

I love pinks, mint and rich berry shades besides black/nude basics, but none of those seem to land with him. Just curious are men favor the kind of natural or nude color palettes, like those from Skims?

Slight nip show-through on thin lace bras, is it a dealbreaker for you?

I’ve been loving lightweight single-layer lace bras for summer, but even with bras on, there’s still faint show-through sometimes and my friend just pointed out my nipples were showing through. She's Russian, she really cares about this, but we’re all in US.

Just curious how everyone feels about this, it’s way too hot for that in summer. Will you get annoyed and switch styles, or just don’t care at all in daily life?
