What cooking vessels were used before widespread metalurgy was available for pots and pans? How did people cook, besides a stick over a fire, before metal pots and pans?

Metalurgy and the ability to make pots and pans I am sure have been around for thousands of years... but I suspect they were not nearly as common like they are now (though if my assumption is wrong please correct me). So what have been the more traditional ways of cooking for common people before the widespread use of metal pots and pans?

The family story goes that in WWII grandpa was sent to the Pacific theater because he had a very German last name. Allegedly they said he couldn't go to Germany because if caught they would have killed him or treated him very bad because he had a German last name. Is there truth to this?

Is there any truth to the US military specifically not sending people to the German theater because of having a German last name for fear that if caught they would be treated especially bad by the Germans?

How to calculate the number of empty boxes in a row with a date occurring either today or before today.

I am wanting to tally the empty boxes in a row with a date that occurs either today or before. I have made a blank sheet maker with a mock-up. Column A has dates entered, with 4 columns of data entry points. If the date is today or before today, I want it to count how many empty boxes are in those specific rows, while not counting any rows.

The number in this example I have made should come to "6". I would then like to multiply that number by 150, but I am assuming that will be easy to add on later once I have the core formula completed.

I think we need more main healer options. I feel like I have to run and stack Quantum, Franken, or Chef every run

There are lots of secondary healer options, like Explorer, Vampire, ghost, mutant, medic, or dentist. Chef is good but he struggles as a single healer, though great at preventing KOs in the late game. Cleric feels okay as well but needs help too from a secondary source. I feel like medic is weak overall and probably needs some buffs if it is meant to also be a main healer. Farmer, by default, NEEDS a second healer to work well (not Franken though, since his main effect doesn't count as healing and he only has the one perk that applies actual healing at 30%), so even more limited options.

This is made more confined because ghost, mutant, and explorer dude NEED somebody to supplement since their effects only work at low health, or with ghost, if you don't heal up past a certain mark it will slowly make your whole roster work down to whatever healing mark you do have (so ghost and explorer will eventually have your whole team only healed up to a max of 30%, making them very vulnerable to big single hits, which is the same issue ghost has with mutant).

This means you need a healer to pair that can actually consistently heal dudes up to full when they aren't taking damage. Leaving only really quantum, franken, and Cleric. Chef works at first, but as soon as their burgers decrease their healing decreases and it causes a runaway effect, so you need A LOT to keep strong healing.

I hope we get more dudes in upcoming patches that can fill the role of main healer. These dudes are fun, but because of how healing works it shoehorns you into needing the same core dudes for healing, where there are a lot of different ways to mix and match DPS and Tanks. Having more core healer options would allow more variability in the secondary healer you pick as well.

What does "Distribute as needed" on chef dudes mean? On earlier levels when I can pay attention to individual dudes I notice there are hamburgers waiting even when dudes aren't at full health. When does the healing actually occur?

What is the mechanic behind "distribute as needed"? It doesn't appear to mean "until everybody is at full health." I am especially curious because I had an annoying anti-synergy run with explorer dudes and ghost dudes where explorer dudes won't heal up much past 30%, and Ghost dudes only redistribute to even health... so it caused all dudes to work their way down to max 50% health, then once all were at 50%, then work their way down to max 30% health. So if I am going to pair a healer with Ghost Dudes I want to make sure they can actually heal up past 50%.

What are general strategies for dealing with big chonky hits (or even one hit kills)?

I have had some seemingly great team comps that do good damage, but then later in the run dudes start dying to large hits, no matter how much healing you have, since you can't heal a one hit kill.

I love the Frankendude because of Organ Donor List for this reason, but I don't want to run him every time.

[US] I am getting hundreds of emails saying I subscribed to a newsletter or a code to sign up. One says I bought tickets

I am getting a bunch of emails all at once sent to my email address but it is in the style of "m.y...e.m.a..i.l.gmail.com" My email address doesn't have periods like that. These emails are to various websites, some in different langues, and consist of them sending me codes to "finish signing up" or saying I am subscribed to their newsletter.

I have one from Ticketmaster saying I bought tickets, though the last 4 digits of the card is not one that I own. I am currently on hold with Ticketmaster support to report it.

I have 2 factor turned on and my password would be considered quite secure. How should I address it?

Audio in games glitches and cuts out or hangs before fixing itself. I don't know how to begin to start diagnosing the problem.

It started with Subnautica Below Zero. Every while or so, like maybe once an hour or maybe a little more, it would repeat the same audio that just played like the game froze and now the sound is skipping, except the game would continue to run fine except for the audio. I thought that it meant the game was about to crash but after a little bit running it would fix itself and go back to normal audio. While the game would run fine seemingly, if I did things like try to alt tab out or save the game it did seem to hang up and get weird until the glitchy-ness passed.

I thought it was a Subnautica Below Zero issue but now I am playing Spiderman 2 Miles Morales and weird audio glitches are happening. The audio might start skipping/cutting out or certain audio doesn't play. Like in a cutscene the audio stops working and the dialogue will start a sentence and then stop and then after a little bit start another sentence and stop. Or I just had one where the side characters seemed to be able to talk but Miles Morales' lines were not playing. Again, it seems to fix itself if it runs for a minute.

I don't know where to start with diagnosing the problem. I don't know how to replicate the problem.

One variable is I run my audio through Voicemeeter banana. So the output device is Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO) while I use USB headphones. This computer is "new" though... I upgraded it completely with new motherboard, GPU, ram, and PSU. I am still using my old harddrives but I had to reinstall everything. Before I upgraded my PC I was also using Voicemeeter Banana and never encountered this issue before.

System Specs:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core Processor, 3800 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB

BaseBoard Product PRIME B850M-A WIFI

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070

[Flash Game PC][Mid 2000s] A series of cute games with relaxing music and you would be a cute animal jumping to catch stars in the sky and stuff like that

There were a few different ones from the same developer. You were always a cute animal and doing things like collecting glowing stars in the sky or glowing orbs in the lake, stuff like that. It had relaxing music and the vibes were very chill.

Building up duration can be easy, but some crawlers have a strong ability when you play their card... but I haven't found a good way to consistently run through their uses so they can be shuffled back in the deck to be played again. Has anybody found a good strategy focused on playing the crawler cards rather than just building duration? How did you do it?
