hi! i am a recent college graduate starting work in the doe this september. i’ve been talking to friends who mostly work in corporate and at times get discouraged by the salary difference and knowing that the salary progression is very different. how do you feel you have set yourself up to not be stressed about finances? i grew up in a low-income household and i don’t want to be constantly worried about having enough to pay for things i need or want (under reasonable prices of course).
How easy or hard is it to get a date at city hall in manhattan before or during a long weekend like Labor Day or Yom Kippur? If you were able to get it, any tips or advice?
i am an incoming teacher in the doe and plan on getting married in courthouse in the first few months of teaching. what is the process to request off early on?
I 23 F and my boyfriend 24M have been dating for 4 years. I had told him that once I finished uni I wanted to get married immediately as I come from a religious family. We started discussing this a year ago, but I didn’t really see any progress in action until June of this year when we started looking at rings. There are a lot of tiny things about our relationship that are making me worry this isn’t my forever person and I don’t know what to do. 1 - He doesn’t take initiative when it comes to planning. I’ve had to ask questions continuously to get him to solidify a plan. 2 - He is inconsistent with his communication. There are times when he won’t respond to his messages for 4+ hours.
He is undiagnosed but I am certain has ADHD, so some of his behavior is explained by that. How do I decide if I can live with this for the rest of my life?
hi! i am a curly girl through and through have not professionally blow dried my hair in years. unfortunately i’ve been slacking on my trims to the point i need a serious cut to get rid of all the split ends and fairy knots. i’m thinking it may be better to get my hair blown out to get a cut that catches as much of the damage as possible. my curls are 4a pattern and i have had bad experiences at salons when getting my hair straightened. would love any suggestions on places that will do a good job at this? my budget is 150
my bf and i are starting to look for my ring and are hoping to get suggestions on stores we can visit to get a better idea of what we want. our budget is 3k, but ideally spend less than that. i’m undecided on whether i want a diamond or gemstone. below are some rings i like for reference. we are open to stores in and outside the city. thank you!
i like many graduates am moving back home for some time after graduation. for one, i’ll return to sharing a room. family will also be staying at our house for at least a month. i know it would be really good to live at home and save up because i’ll be in new york city and be working as a teacher, but i’m very worried about how my mental health will be with the adjustment. my mom can be strict and make me feel just how i did as a kid. whenever i go home for breaks, i feel guilty about going out and staying late (10/11 pm). i know having a conversation could be helpful. any other advice on how to prepare? also for context, we are latinos if the context helps
