AMERICA, THE DEFACED: What if the United States just.. collapsed?

Essentially a soft America-Rome analog. Maybe moreso like Byzantium or the HRE or the Mongol Empire.

No lore besides what's in the images yet, I've been compiling this stuff up. The US essentially keeps going tumultuous like how it is now, democrats gain a massive foothold in the 2028 elections but just cant maintain the stability and splinter into many groups. The central federal government loses power and temporarily renames the nation as well as splits the nation into counties for the 2028 election.

I could get into the details but the point is that states begin to take more control and do their own rules, the federal government weakens, and the US dissolves into a rump state sometime in the 2030s. The state of Washington, fearing that they would collapse under their neighbors, opted to join Canada. Carter Lake chooses to join Nebraska and be on the 'right side' of the river simply because it was easier.

More will come in the future and it might very well become it's own timeline. Please ask questions!

What if only South Carolina left the Union?

In this timeline, a set of events occurs leading for most people that would normally bolster and strengthen the CSA to not be able to. Disease, death, etc. Also, most states pass more progressive legislatures. Robert E. Lee moves to SC after Virginia moves to be more liberal, and there he meets governor Francis Pickens. The two share common sentiment and eventually independence.

No other states secede though, also thanks to Lincoln sending some US military soldiers to patrol. Needless to say, South Carolina quickly loses the war after getting their hopes up with early ambush victories at the start. Due to there only being one state, only the Bonnie Blue (yes that's the name) flag is used as the Confederate flag is never invented in this timeline. The state rejoins the Union and that's that.

Also i just realized I probably should've changed the name of the war itself, though it makes sense that in the years following the war they would want to call it that to make it seem more equal of a fight. I'd imagine it's just called the Carolinian Insurgency outside of that. Beyond the war, a brief reconstruction period happens from 1861-1863. The state votes in the 1864 election and goes on like normal though. The government is completely changed. I know it's not all realistic but eh.

EDIT: I made a shocking amount of errors. I forgot to update the US army size among one of them. I acknowledge this and the others now stop buttering up my comments thanks El Reddit

I had, conceived in liberty, an innocuous query which was regarding the shifting in the lingua franca commonly referred to as English, and it's status in EmptyContinents centuries after the Vanishing. The Big Dissapearance if you will

Sorry for title lol

How has English changed between 2028 and 2378? Id imagine the world being more connected in the 23rd century onwards with new technology would keep language slow to drift, like how the television slowed down North American accent shift.

But how has the English language changed? Are there equivalents to Afrikaans that offshooted out? What's the difference between American and British English?

At the time of her death, Calment was alive for most of America's history.

Granted, she wasn't American, she was French. But it's interesting to think that if she died today she would've been born on February 11, 1904.

Colonel Sanders coexisted with civil war veterans, founding fathers, and possibly someone reading this.

EDIT: Sons of founding fathers*

If we extend this further, there were people born in the 1680s who coexisted with people coexisting with Colonel Sanders, who coexist with people alive today, who in turn coexist with people who will be born in the 23rd century.

Back at it again with the new larp

This is based on that one image of the second most spoken language in every state with stuff like "linear b" "trigonometry" and "sumerian"

There's no limit to the larp, we MAY as well call this larping continents

Had Washington clutched 15 more days, he would've seen 1800.

EDIT: 17 days, not 15

EDIT: 18 days

He still would need to clutch another year to see the 19th century (1801-1900) because there is no year zero: the 1st century was 1-100, second was 101-200, and so on

Gotta Sweep Sweep Sweep! What if Mondale lost even harder?

I kept DC because there's no way Reagan could win without me being even meaner. Aren't I such a nice guy?

Essentially, the votes in Beltrami County are changed from OTL so that those who narrowly chose to vote for Mondale instead choose to vote for Reagan. The total ends up the same but the county switches in votes, plus some other stuff leading to Reagan winning the state as a whole.

I chose to round the percentages to the nearest ten percent for aesthetical reasons, but it would probably be closer to 58.9% Reagan. If you don't understand what I just said, imagine if Minnesota was D+17.9 instead of D+18. From there i just started doing random stuff to try and make this not look empty
