Anyone else feeling this way?

I’m currently taking care of a sick parent after a period of emotional burnout. I was away for a few months trying to recover, and when I came back my parent suddenly got sick and everything fell on me.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love my parent and I’m grateful I can be here. But I’m also realizing that even while I’m working on myself, I have absolutely no patience left for nonsense.

We all make mistakes. We apologize, we fix what we can, and we move on. I don’t have the energy anymore to argue, convince people, or explain myself over and over.

I’m annoyed by every little thing right now. The bureaucracy. The forms asking for information that feels like the government should already have. The people knocking on my door at dinner time. The constant friction of everyday life. The people who are rude, inconsiderate, or just seem completely unaware of how their actions affect others.

And I hate admitting this, but I’m also tired of feeling like I’m constantly trying to be patient and understanding when I don’t feel like that same kindness is being extended back.

I’m angry. Really angry.

I’m posting this because I don’t necessarily need advice right now. I think I just need someone to understand what it feels like when you’ve been carrying too much for too long and suddenly your tolerance for everything drops to zero.

Tell me I’m not the only one who has had a season of life where every little thing makes you want to scream.

Vancouver sketchers meetup next weekend?

I'm on a kick to socialize these days. What better way to do it than silently drawing with a group of people.

Anyone want to meet up at the new west quay next weekend and sketch? Get some coffee, I may bring cookies depends on how they turn out (they never turn out right).

Let me know if you're interested!

37F — Looking for someone to camp with, stargaze with, and keep each other company

I’m into stand-up comedy, music from most genres, 90s and early-2000s references, reading, painting, and debating the logistics of whatever imaginary society we’ve decided to build that day. I avoid crowds when I can and tend to prefer cozy nights in over noisy venues.

Give me Spotify, dim lights, incense, and a good conversation over a packed concert any day.

I’m learning to cook, so expect food. Some of it may even be intentional.

I enjoy being outdoors as much as I enjoy being indoors, so I’m equally happy with a weekend camping trip or a quiet evening at home with a playlist and a book.

I communicate because I don’t expect anyone to read my mind. I’m self-aware enough to know I’m still doing the work, and independent enough that I genuinely enjoy my alone time too.

If your ideal date involves a campfire, a great playlist, some laughs, and a conversation that somehow ends with us redesigning society, we’ll probably get along.

If any of this sounds like your kind of company, send me a DM. Let’s talk about Baldur’s Gate.

Ukelele players?

Hey!

I'm finding I have a lot of time these days and want to socialize more. I would love to meet other ukelele players on sunnier days maybe at a park or by the water. I'm still a beginner btw.

Hippo - watercolor / crayon / ink / charcoal

Hi all!

I wanted to share this with this community because I find the people are generally nice and supportive. I am also an aspiring urban sketcher so I hope it's okay that I'm sharing this.

I saw a cute hippo on some YouTube channel and felt like drawing it. So I did.

I'm still trying to figure out what I like to work with...

Questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer.

  1. with watercolor do you get the color to be what you want and then paint that on from very watery to less watery or do you build one colour after another until you get your desired color?

  2. cross hatching. Why does it look so simple yet is anything but!? Any and all tips are appreciated.

  3. charcoal. I love doing large sketches with charcoal but this little one sucked hard. No question just a statement.
