Engagement Nails

Getting engaged in the next couple of weeks and wanted to make sure my nails were done.

I've never done tips up until now as I always have very short nails.

I'm hoping the color will go well with my champagne gold ring.

I did dip powder with a nail tip. 1 coat of OPI Funny Bunny & top layer of Bubble Bath

Large, Square Painting Advice Needed

I'm attempting my first diamond painting with square drills and my largest so far at 37" X 25" (I'm relatively new, under a year). I wish I could stop, but it's part of a theme of gifts for my family.

TBH I've hated working with square drills! Some tips I've picked up from this amazing community:

  • Not using my light board which has slightly improved my experience
  • Zig Zag Rulers. It was great for a bit then it started looking wonky
  • Checkboard approach
  • The rolling tool (not sure it's working as well as I had hoped)
  • Praise V Pen (which I've actually really liked!!!)
  • Art Dot Putty (thanks for the corn starch tip)
  • Starting from the right has helped line up some things a bit better
  • Canvas tube

But now that I've been able to accomplish a bit more, what do I do with the what I've finished?

Does it just hang over my desk towards my lap?

Will some of the drill fall of or get damaged in any way?

Basically, any additional tips?

I have a long way to go with this one.

Feedback on Design

I could really use some advice on my custom ring design.

My original hope was for something cleaner, basically a cathedral setting solitaire. I like the profile of this design.

What I’m struggling with is the middle picture where those two diamond areas are on the side view. They may be there for support, but visually they feel busier than what I wanted.

From the top view, it also looks like the shoulders V out pretty widely from the center stone before becoming the band. I was hoping the design could come together more cleanly so that from the top view it reads more like a simple solitaire band leading into the stone, instead of seeing that wider V/wing shape on each side.

I really wanted a hidden halo but she said that it was not structurally sound. She's more about being an artist than meeting me with what I want.

My main questions are:

  1. Are those diamond-shaped side structures necessary for support, or could they be softened, narrowed, or blended into the band differently?
  2. If the shoulders have to stay wider like this, what kind of wedding band would even pair well with it?
  3. Anything you would change?
