I’m 44 years old. Got married, got my doctorate, did some cool things but I have to share. Of all my years, being in a stadium in my hometown of Chicago after a crazy tornado delay, everyone singing ii Hands ii Heaven with Bey and it was magical. Easily one of the top 10 moments of my life. If you were there, thank you for being part of that experience with me.
More recently I’ve become very irritable after eating. I’m not sure what’s up. I was in a really good mood, then had lunch, and now am super irritated with no reason that I should be. Anyone else experiencing this and on Mounjaro? It feels like a reverse hangry.
For me, it’s definitely calling younger kids, “littles.” Some fun summertime thoughts to help clear our heads before the new school year.

I just got offered an Assistant Professor of Special Education role and the salary offered was almost $80k less than what I make now. I have no prior higher ed experience but 20+ in K-12. Two questions: 1. What is the best perk of leaving K-12? 2. How did you bridge the income gap?
I’ve been with charter schools for over 18 years in a multitude of special education positions including director of special education. Since I started in the charter world in 2008, I get next to no interviews for traditional public school districts at any level role. It’s gotten frustrating given my years of experience and certifications (20+). If you’re in a hiring manager or similar, do you pass up candidates with a charter school history? Why or why not?
I think it’s gone past advocacy at this point and I’m putting myself on the line for egos of Chiefs and still not seeing the necessary results for kids. I always knew there would be some political maneuvering in this role but currently for me it’s nonstop and completely driven by ego. Maybe I’m venting; maybe I’m hoping someone can relate; maybe I’m just trying to keep my passion alive. Thanks everyone.

I have a very close friend that will sacrifice all her wants and desires if her daughter doesn’t want to do something. Her daughter is 10 or 11 years old. She is a single mom so I want to be sensitive but also know she’s struggling to find joy because she will give in to her daughter if she doesn’t want to do what mom wants to. I acknowledge I’m not a parent let alone a single parent. Should I not even address the issue? I know my friend is sad that she is not socializing with other adults. Thoughts?
