Non-romance dramas featuring a side of happily married, disgustingly in love with each other ML & FL?

Any dramas where the leads’ relationship is not the main plot and therefore we don’t need constant conflict on the romantic front to keep the tension going?

I just want the occasional fluff and partnership between two equals but without the incessant back and forth, meddling from third parties or whatever else a true romantic drama might throw at us to keep us glued to the screen.

Has any idol ever deliberately sabotaged themselves?

Are there any known or open secret instances of an idol deliberately sabotaging themselves? E.g. wants out of their contract but company won‘t let them go so they get into a dumb scandal to get the label to drop them, hates doing variety so they deliberately get on the bad side of producers to not get re-invited, hates the concept of their new comeback so tries to make the promotions / performances as dull as possible in order to flop and never have to do anything like that ever again.

Not sure if the idol doing this would be smart or dumb because acting willful like this is probably how you get a company to shelf you or if the behavior is extreme enough even blacklist you, but I can totally see a teenager or young adult with no other leverage to re-negotiate their contract try something like this.

Manipulative FLs?

Just realized that I need a full-length drama featuring FL who never really lifts a finger and instead gets other people to do the (dirty) work for her. The type to appear harmless and demure but really with every small action she’s quietly manipulating everyone around her to become her chess pieces.

I’ve seen some verticals with a FL like this and they were a blast. From what I remember Ming Lan at least occasionally fits this too.

Modern dramas featuring mature FL x mature ML

Preferably not angst galore, plus I‘d appreciate if both leads have their own lives.

A few dramas I can think of right now that match what I‘m searching for

  • Stand or fall
  • Fake it till you make it
  • Meet yourself

Strong FL who is written like a real woman?

Say what you want about what it reveals about my own internalized misogyny but at this point I gotta roll my eyes when dramas present a strong FL but are actually delivering a vessel for wish fulfillment. Not that this is a problem unique to dramas lead by women but recently every drama I‘ve tried watching feels like FL stepped out of someone’s teenage daydreams. Like you know the archetype — inexplicably good at everything (unless the plot requires otherwise), any flaws she may have only serve to make her look better or drive us to the next cliché plot point and of course the whole male cast is lusting after her.

Please recommend me some dramas starring a believable strong FL with true depth and complexity to her strength.

Cultivation novels with a relatively small cast?

Maybe I’m getting old but recently cultivation novels have been giving me a headache because there are just too many characters.

Why does a novel need 80 recurring cast members? Who tf is keeping up with all of them?

Is land truly worth it for F2P long-term?

Obviously land is a great source of power and intimacy early game. However, I’m at a point I have to invest so much to barely get enough produce for +1 during CS power (not even the regular, I actually keep collecting during those) that I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually worth it.

Is investing in land a good deal for F2P or would my ingots be better spent on other things than land skins and building prints?

Please recommend: FL x SML who are 100% platonic friends?

Recently I’ve been getting annoyed by CDramas’ tendency to have basically the entire male cast fall hopelessly in love with FL.

Any examples for dramas where FL and SML are just friends, i.e. neither has ever had any romantic interest in the other, not even subconsciously?

▲ 40 r/CDrama

There are loved CDrama characters, controversial characters, forgotten characters and then there are characters who are universally despised.

In many instances I find myself kind of agreeing. ML’s mom in Go ahead? I applaud the people involved for being able to create such an infuriating character, CDrama has seen plenty of worse mothers but none of them come even close to enraging me quite like she did. But there definitely have been times I have been taken aback by or simply disagreed with people’s reception of a CDrama character.

Who in CDrama, do you believe, does not deserve all the hate?

I’m gonna start strong and say FL’s mom in Love like the galaxy and Love and Redemption’s FL. Judging from the online reception to these two, you’d think that these women are satan himself. However, while they’re obviously deeply flawed characters, I never truly hated either when watching the dramas.

The mother-daughter relationship in LLTG was honestly one of the more interesting parts of the drama to me, since I felt like it for once showed a failed relationship between MC and their parent without turning the parent into some irredeemable monster. Throughout watching I just felt sorry for the mom bc her whole relationship with her daughter was a tragedy, which is why I was kinda surprised when I saw that people almost unanimously loathe LLTG’s mom. Everything about the mom from the blatant favoritism of FL’s cousin to her helplessness towards FL’s behavior felt like normal flaws to have and while her attempts at parenting fail, given the social and cultural context, none of her methods seem like anything too extreme. Plus, some criticism honestly felt unfair. Like was she supposed to know that her mother-in-law would allow her own granddaughter to be neglected in her household? Do you think she tried to criticize her daughter after ML requested marriage because she looks down on FL and just can’t help herself talking negatively about her even in front of the emperor?

Love and redemption’s FL? The hate she receives seems to be almost exclusively about her not reciprocating ML‘s feelings for the better part of the story and being undeserving of his affection and self-sacrifice. And honestly, I hate this type of conversation. It reminds me exactly why I feel uncomfortable whenever I learn that someone has romantic feelings for me bc so many people just really don‘t know how to be normal about their own feelings. What other people feel or voluntarily do for another person is not that person’s business. Nobody owes anyone their love for anything, ever. Besides wtf does it even mean to be undeserving of someone’s love? ML did all of that voluntarily. He is really not FL’s victim or whatever people make him out to be. That’s not even getting into the fact that FL is legitimately neurodivergent and isn’t even capable of responding to or even understanding ML’s feelings to begin with.
