I was offered a Sirio Elettra 1 today for free!
Little know obscure company made these in 1945, only about 7000 made.
A reminder of Rule 5…
There’s so many spam posts, low quality whinging posts, repetitive questions, crappy memes amended lacking originality…
Can we get some decorum amongst ourselves? We’re one of the top transport subs, we could be at the top.
Go, Nad!
My shiny serviced NAD 6340 arrived in the post today! Started recording some goth disco straight away.
Summer Evening at Wistanstow & Craven Arms
I do things the old, slow way - a roll of film in the Rolleiflex, walking along bridlepaths and planning meticulously for the photos I want. Here’s two shots from last week.
What’s the inverse of being bowled?
This would be perfect without the 153!
£80 for a brick of Phoenix II
Nipped into Cardiff Camera Centre looking for some film. Mentioned I’m looking for colour and I’m so happy we have a British made colour film being made from scratch - a market with a variety of film is a healthy film market.
Owner offered me a brick for £80. Didn’t even hesitate!
A cracking evening for photography on the Marches
Plomped a roll of Kodak Gold 200 in my Rolleiflex and off we went to Craven Arms. I’ll get it developed and share the outputs later in the month.
The whole ‘Europeans love Ranch’ is a ploy by Heinz to push more sales after the World Cup.
Hello, British guy here.
We’ve never adopted ranch in the UK. We don’t know what it is in it. However, Heinz has recently started a new line of sauces and condiments - like a whole barrage of stuff.
With the World Cup going on, the US has a golden opportunity to get foreigners in, get them to taste stuff before they leave and then sell it back to them upon return.
Red and Blue in Lisbon
Red is cast in Derbyshire but I don’t know where the blue is from - however I love the beer bottle lid!
Some of my photos from 19/20 years ago
47805 and 47815 on the Grand Central inter-feeder at Ryhope Grange at Sunderland. This ran between Sunderland and York, whilst the HSTs were running York - London.
37175 during the Xmas gala at Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway. We were preparing everything the night before. Had a few lemonades, found some vinyls. We named 37175 ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’, applied the ScotRail swoosh and an Intercity logo to it (just visible) before it went into service. It’s now owned and operated by Colas Rail.
National Express East Coast diversion along the Tyne Valley outside of Gilsland. NXEC scantily covered up the GNER red and only painted a few of the Mk3s into their colour scheme. This rake wasn’t fully completed - never to be seen again.
60038 at Hexham hauling the empty lime hoppers. It was a Sunday evening and you could hear this train from miles away. The train started in Hardendale and ran to Thrislington - both with slim traffic, the latter closed(?). 60038 is owned and stored by DC Rail.
One of two times I caught a shunter on the main line. This is 09017 at Newport, sauntering from East Usk to Alexandra Dock Jn and eventually to Newport Docks either covered wagons.
33202, 47714, 31452 and 31128 at Gloucester. Fragonset were creaking and finally bit the dust in 2006. Their locos were bought by Cotswold Rail from the administration of the company. All were parked at Gloucester between unplanned duties. Cotswold Rail were wound up in 2007. All locos are off the mainline but still existing in some form.
Freshly painted 47802 at the head of the Stobart Pullman (v1!) at Seaham. DRS were in partnership with Eddie Stobart for some time - and somewhere in 2007, the first branded Stobart Pullman service was brought into existence. The train didn’t last for long in this style, with a full repaint into Stobart colours during the following year. 47802 is owned by WCRC whilst 47501 on the rear is stored by LSL.
66428 and 66415 hauling 3S10 (RHTT) along the Tyne Valley during early autumn 2007. These locos were the second variation of the DRS colours. Both are still with DRS.
GNER HST at Stonebridge outside Durham. There used to be a signal box and junction where the rear power car is - my auntie worked it during the war.
Barnetby in February whilst the semaphores still stood.
Cheers!
