PGY4 applying for Rehab Reg Position
Hi Guys,
I'm currently a PGY4 at Ipswich Hospital and am planning to apply for the Rehabilitation Registrar position next year.
I've completed three rehabilitation rotations and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The specialty has really appealed to me, and it's something I'm very interested in pursuing as a career.
I've spoken with two consultants who have kindly agreed to act as referees. They've been encouraging and feel that I have a reasonable chance of securing a position. My main concern is that a number of Advanced Trainees are also planning to apply. I completely understand that, from a recruitment perspective, Advanced Trainees may be viewed as particularly strong candidates.
I was wondering if anyone has any guidance on what else I could do to strengthen my application and improve my chances. I've already completed several courses that were recommended by my consultants, but I'd be grateful for any additional suggestions or insights from those who have been through the process.

How does the enemy always have more troops?
Played 5 games of Clash of Nations - the top player always has a 20+ troop advantage over me. All games happened to be played by Turkey.
My Day by Day strategy
Build Artillery and take out nearby AIs and then build infrastructure. Then build Planes + Light Tanks. But by this time the enemy hasnt taken out anyone but has a considerably huge stack of ships, medium tanks, and strategic bombers like wth? Any advice is preferred please.

Should I spend an extra $300 on a 7800X3D or put it toward a better GPU?
I'm building a gaming PC and have about $300 extra to spend.
Current plan:
- Ryzen 5 7500F
- RX 9070 XT
For the same money, I could either:
- Upgrade to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and keep the 9070 XT
- Keep the 7500F and upgrade to a RTX 5070 Ti
I play mostly at 1440p.
Which option would give better gaming performance and be the better choice for the next 3–5 years?
Would the 7500F hold back either GPU, and is the 7800X3D worth it for future-proofing?
Anything else I should consider?

Planning on buying this hillside land advice please
Hi everyone,
We’re looking at a block of land on the hillside in Townsville and would really appreciate some honest advice before we make any decisions.
From the address and layout, it looks like access would likely need to come from the top of the block/house rather than the bottom because of how steep it is. The block has been sitting on the market for a few months now, which has us wondering if there’s something we’re missing.
We’re first home buyers, so we’re trying to understand whether this is actually a reasonable opportunity or potentially a very expensive mistake.
A few questions:
- What sort of extra costs did you run into?
- Would a split-level or pole/stilt home be the only realistic option?
- Roughly how much should we budget for retaining walls, excavation, drainage, and engineering?
- Are there issues with cyclone requirements, drainage, or access on steep blocks in Townsville that we should know about?
- Is there usually a reason blocks like this sit unsold for a long time?
We’ve read that sloping blocks can add anywhere from 10–25%+ to build costs once retaining walls, drainage, engineering and excavation are included.
Some of the retaining wall estimates we’ve seen for Townsville are pretty eye-watering too:
- around $7k–$30k+ for retaining walls depending on height and access
- and people online mentioning six-figure site costs on very steep blocks
We’re also wondering if difficult site access (only being able to build from above) makes construction significantly more expensive.
Any advice, experiences, regrets, stories or things you wish you checked before buying would be massively appreciated.

Golden Retriever developing black spots with hair loss — anyone seen this before?
Hi everyone,
I have a 2-year-old Golden Retriever who has recently started getting black patches on the skin with little or no fur growing on them. They seem darker than the rest of the skin and are noticeable through the coat.
A few details:
- It has been there
- He’s otherwise acting normal (eating, drinking, energy all okay)
- I only recently noticed the spots
- They look more like dark skin patches than wounds
- Some areas seem to have thinning hair or no hair at all
- I haven’t changed food recently
I’m planning to book a vet visit, but I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with their Golden or another dog.

Received the PSPs for my Neverfull Inside Out from God Factory and figured I’d get some feedback before giving the final GL.
At first glance, everything looks pretty solid to me. The bag’s proportions and overall silhouette seem well done, the stitching looks tidy and even, and the hardware appears polished without anything obviously off. I’ve compared it against the auth photos, but I’d appreciate some additional opinions from people with sharper eyes for details.

I’m getting a PC quoted by PLE for $1440, while Part Picker comes out around $1700, so it seems like a solid deal. Just wanted to get a second opinion on a few things before I lock it in, I already have a second hand 5070.
My main concerns are the motherboard being B650 instead of B850 for a Ryzen 7 CPU, the RAM being 6400MHz instead of the usual 6000MHz sweet spot, whether the power supply brand is reliable long-term, and the fact it doesn’t include an operating system.

Hey everyone, hoping someone with some experience here can clear up a few things for me. I'm currently making personal contributions through RemServ to try and take advantage of the First Home Super Saver Scheme, but I've got a couple of questions I can't seem to get a straight answer on:
- Is the $15k annual contribution limit pre or post-tax?
I'm making personal (after-tax) contributions and claiming a tax deduction to make them concessional. Does the $15k cap refer to the amount I contribute before or after the 15% contributions tax that super funds take?
- Are Australian residents on a work visa eligible?
My partner and I are currently on work visas and in the middle of a PR application. Are we still eligible to use the FHSS scheme, or do you need to be a citizen or permanent resident?
- Can two people withdraw under the FHSS scheme for the same property?
If both my partner and I have been making eligible contributions, can we both make an FHSS withdrawal and put it toward the same house together?
