DL re-instatement

Express lane says that in order to get the amount of a fine for lapsed insurance, a person needs to show proof of current insurance, but doesn’t say exactly what suffices. A relative let his lapse back in May, and says he got re-insured the very next day. What particular documents does he need to bring to show proof of insurance was obtained next day? He’s thinking he’ll print something from his company and bring that. Would that suffice? I don’t want to have to bring him multiple times. We’ll be using one of those places that charge more w/o having to go to DMV. Does he need a letter from the ins co on letterhead? Thanks!!

3 Across in 2023 Ford Edge?

Looking for probably needing to purchase 3 new seats. Daughter has to fit 3 across & we are, due to budget, looking at the Edge. Anyone who can share their set up in an Edge?
Child 1- backed booster 6 years old
Child 2 & 3 both forward facing, harnessed seats.
3 & 4 years old.
Seems 2 Graco Slimfit3 LX and a slim backed booster may work? Looking at the Diono backed booster. The seat belts are rigid and recessed.

Is induction or radiant best for me?

UPDATE: After all your great comments I decided to do induction. I’m getting the Frigidaire Professional. It has KNOBS! That will be easier and less frustrating. I never cared if was completely flat. THANKS everyone!

Coming from a 19 yr old Jenn-air radiant glass cooktop. Still looks decent - the glass was high quality for cleaning. It died and our home appliance insurance is sending a check for $818. They will cover induction if we get that.
We can go a few hundred over the $818, but I’m unable to do 2k. I am 67 & hubs is 73. He does not cook at all. If I asked him to cook an egg or something simple on a cooktop he may not make friends with induction. Hell, just my wall oven took him a while to learn the steps to quickly pre-heat.
I’m just the everyday southern cook. Bigger on holidays but pretty basic fare otherwise. I do sear steaks etc. Faster boiling sounds great. My cookware is a set of non stick All-Clad plus a 12” SS All/Clad pan for searing/browning. I replace the non sticks one by one. Not sure if they were D3 but I’d imagine so. They do take a magnet, but I’m hearing they aren’t great with cheaper induction which have a smaller element if that’s the right word.
Today or tomorrow is the last day of the Labor Day sales which are good. Should I just stick with radiant or go induction? No Bosch, Meile, Wolf or Thermadore due to cost. Definitely avoiding Samsung. I hate the thought of the uneven cooking. We are taking a big trip this fall and need to keep money for that. Is the Frigidaire that bad? Is there another one better for around $1200 sale price or just save money and go radiant? Not many stores here have more than a couple on display especially in 30”. Help please!!

$18.5k limit for used-help an older lady please!

I’m a 67/F. My husband doesn’t know enough about cars, and he can’t get on the ground to inspect. We flooded bad here in ‘16 so I want to start with ‘17. We don’t know any mechanic to take with us. Can’t afford $150 to go look at every potential car.
CPO is not happening for that price. Car will be daily commuter. Paying cash, we will not do new with a note. This is a purchase for my daughter who absolutely needs this and soon.
Buying limit is 18.5K before TTL and dealer doc. In South Louisiana all Corolla, Civic or Mazda is priced way higher, even w/wrecks. I’m being told only buy one of those three - no rentals and no accidents. That’s proving impossible. Then I read Carmax doesn’t do ANY sort of inspection at all anymore besides walk around the car. I know so many younger folks don’t like dealing with our generation, but if we could get past that & get some ideas that would be great. 🤯

One day post op & near vision is off 8”

My surgeon and I agreed to using ORA with Clareon monofocal toric lenses set at 20” near/intermediate vision in right eye, which was done first. In 2 weeks we do the left, set for distance. Today I went for re-check & all was well, no shifting. I went home, and discovered the 20” is blurry. Sharpest vision is at 12”, causing me to have to lean over my sewing machine as before, which causes a backache.
He said he was glad we used the ORA because they had to make a change to what had been predicted. My card says +23, sphere is 1.5. Is it too early to say I’m stuck at 12”, or should I expect some improvement? 8” seems a lot off to me. It won’t be that big a deal to have to wear glasses just in sewing room, but damn.

Cataract surgery Decisions with special considerations

My surgery is scheduled for 11 days from now, and go for my 2nd measurements in a couple of days. Any insight or thoughts are welcome.
I had both crossed eyes corrected surgically as a young child, and at 40, same for one lazy eye. I’m 67 now. Here are my last years exam results.
Right: sphere -2.25, cyl- +1.25, axis 20
Left: sphere -.25, cyl- +1.5, axis 175
I’m aware that the sphere number will not be accurate as this is for glasses.

Toric lenses recommended, left eye for distance, right eye for near. I do not have binocular vision, so that configuration may not be a bother. Maybe because I always rejected glasses, my right eye vision got worse & worse so I learned to depend on the left, and now that eye is dominant. I did use contacts off & on when I was younger, but glasses became easier as I aged.
I worry with one eye for distance and the other for near, what happens to intermediate vision for sewing, laptop, etc? Might I need glasses for that? I get a backache from having to lean over more now to see the needle area of my machine, and also for cutting fabric, as I’m having to get closer these days).
And, does the toric even make sense for me? Doc said I didn’t have to spend the additional $4k, but I wouldn’t need glasses after. Without, I will still need glasses. I failed to ask about intermediate vision. I want to see well at between 20-24” away from my eyes. I’m sooo tossed about this.

Travel in 4 mo - TSA or wait for GE a bit longer?

Husband and I are traveling end of Oct overseas. He’s gotten conditional approval and mine is still pending. He will do his interview but how close to our trip is it safe to just go for TSA pre-check? August? Sept? Is it faster?
Had I known people get declined for something a roommate did 30 years ago I’d have not spent the money. His ex has a felony, and I forgot to include my maiden name as a name I used.

Delta operated KLM flights - Italy

I went on Delta.com website to change a flight to Italy, (need to arrive earlier to join a group), and all flights I wanted showed sold out. (BTR-ATL-FCO- PMO). I called Delta for options. The agent got me KLM flights operated by Delta. They appear to be the same flights I was looking at on the site - exact same departure/arrival times, and seat maps showing seat availability choices the same. The agent gave me entirely different DL numbers - but the app only shows KL flight #, operated by Delta.
Is there any reason Delta would show sold out but KLM is available? The only difference seems to be plane type on first leg. But if they added flights why don’t they show on Delta.com? Please excuse my ignorance - first time intl traveller, and I just wonder if I should be concerned about anything.

Inflatable seat pad?

Going to Rome in the fall. I have a bony bottom, lol! I want to bring one of those self pump seat pads like Sondur, which inflates pretty easily just pumping one of the pockets. Has anyone successfully used one after lift off or are they super strict & take away?

Flying Baton Rouge-ATL-Palermo Italy in the fall. Main Extra, we have boarding zone 5. Classic would be a lot cheaper, but zone 6-7. I’m mainly worried about bin space on the overnight leg, since my husband is tall and putting items under seat is going to diminish his leg room. Do the zone 1-4 folks typically take all the bin space? We will book a window & aisle seat on (for the ATL-FCO part), Airbus A330-900NEO. Same for return flight. Thanks!
