Michael Parenti on revolutionary "violence"

“The very concept of "revolutionary violence" is somewhat falsely cast, since most of the violence comes from those who attempt to prevent reform, not from those struggling for reform. By focusing on the violent rebellions of the downtrodden, we overlook the much greater repressive force and violence utilized by the ruling oligarchs to maintain the status quo, including armed attacks against peaceful demonstrations, mass arrests, torture, destruction of opposition organizations, suppression of dissident publications, death squad assassinations, the extermination of whole villages, and the like.”

Plaza Beach Hotel owner believes he owns the beach - what kind of asshattery is afoot here?

*UPDATE from Comments:

It appears we need to get the City of St Pete Beach to enact a new code that specifically protects the customary use rights the public have in freely accessing the sandy beach and water as we have been doing for many decades. Thanks to everyone for making their comments, especially those from the legal profession who really understand the matter.

It appears to me that we need to take action with the city commission. I personally believe contacting them with a draft proposal of the code would be the next steps.

Here's the Commission's website with each commissioner's contact information:

https://www.stpetebeach.org/222/City-Commission

Another course of action to take would be to collect signatures from beachgoers, which should not get too much resistance since I'm pretty sure people don't like what that dude is doing. If anyone else has suggestions, feel free to post them.

My original post:

I did some digging on pcpao.gov and looked up that property, which you can see parcel number 07-32-16-00000-210-0100 here:

https://www.pcpao.gov/property-details?s=163207000002100100&input=4506+Gulf+Blvd&search_option=address&start=0&length=10&order_column=5&order_type=asc

It is my understanding that the limits of the property are defined by the parcel dimensions, which are 400 x 136 (see slide 2). However, this property has a red lines defining the property extending it to what appears to be the low water mark. And that's the only one like it (see slide 3).

The post that got me curious is this one here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/StPetersburgFL/comments/1uev4fe/st_pete_beach_hotel_owner_tells_beachgoers_dont/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The reality is that the beach is part of the Public Commons. What the owner of that place is doing is what pricks like him have been doing for a long time and that's enclosing the commons to deny the masses what is rightfully all of ours. These assholes think they even own the sky...

I guess I am posting to get some more attention on this situation because it can't continue. I mean, hell, even the Don Cesar Hotel doesn't even do this.

Note to mods: The owner of the hotel has made this a public matter and declared domain over public property with their signage on public property. pcpao.gov is the Pinellas Co Prop Assessor's official site where all real property records are freely accessed as a matter of public record.

How to carry SLV, SLF and SRV on one Anaconda?

So I want to refit my Anaconda to carry the new Nomad. How can I carry one of them along with my SRV and SLF? Does one of those need to be left behind for this? I have a fuel tank I can replace with the necessary hangar IIRC (500 jumps to nearest station lol).

Any help is appreciated! o7

In the "Trillionaire Age", let's not forget this...

It doesn't have to be this way. We can change it.

Movement Feature: Lean Left, Lean Right

So currently there is no "lean" function in original DMZ. However, the ability to lean has its value. I'd like to see it in the new DMZ.

Support Post: Variable Zoom - Laser Ranging - Night Vision Binoculars

Banshee should offer the basic binocs at Level 2, the ranging one at level 3, he should scrap the ones without the crossharis altogether and at Level 4 offer the AGM GLOBAL VISION ObservIR LRF binoculars. These binoculars combine laser ranging finding, VARIABLE Zoom AND night vision into one package. *they do have thermal, but MGF can just not include that feature*

Binoculars in GZW lack variable zoom, a very useful function for anyone who regularly uses binocs, which i am sure many of you do. These AGM binocs have the following functions:

  • Dual-spectrum thermal + digital night vision (GZW would just not have thermal)
  • Integrated laser rangefinder
  • Variable magnification

Since these are premium optics, they should require Banshee Level 4 to purchase. These are real binoculars and both Cabellas and Bass Pro sell them. They're about 1500 bucks. I'd expect Banshee to charge 5-6k for them.

I am new. The other binoculars are ok. A variable zoom set would be great. I don't have Banshee to Level 4 yet. Do those above have variable zoom?

So the volume of sound decreases inversely proportionally to the square of the distance from the source; i.e. v = 1/d^2. This means that a sound making V decibels at X meters decreases 6db as the distance doubles. For example, 80db sound at 10 meters is 74db at 20.

Gray Zone seems not to model this volume drop off when it comes to hearing the enemy when they shout taunts, and many times gunfire sounds literally on top of me but the source is many meters away. It's like there's just one volume level no matter the distance, and that's just not how sound works.

The other issue is that enemy voices and gunfire are not as refined as they should be when it comes to detecting the originating direction. Perhaps it's the lack of volume drop off at distance? Dunno...but the sound is "off" to me. And note, I don't use the electronic headphones or earmuffs ever, and those can change sound characteristics (the former actually amplifies sound ever so slightly when not on the latter, the yellow ones, muffle out everything)...oh, and I have ears like a dog, so sounds are important to me.

Anyhow, since I am new, is this a known thing?
