Im a little worried about applying to MSTPs, I know there are non MSTP programs that are great but ideally I would love to be at an MSTP. Im applying to both MD and MD PhD

MCAT 505->512 (~90th percentile on everything but CARS #ESL ✊😔)

3.6 GPA (upward trend 3.4->3.9)

ORM, SES disadvantaged, TX resident

~7000 hours of research across 3 labs, dev biology, and 2 cancer biology labs

5 posters all first author (1 at national conference others at home institution research symposiums)

2 pubs, one mid author, one 2nd author

150 hours shadowing internal med, radiology, neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, heme onc

1000 hours of non clinical volunteering

250 hours of clinical volunteering

Hobbies: creative writing, oil painting, and former semi pro volleyball player

Really good leadership experience 3 years as a president of a volunteer organization

6 strong LORs from PIs, professors, Physician, and mentors

3 competitive research scholarships/awards

1 prestigious federal fellowship/award

Im hoping my ECs can make up for my mid stats

Honestly apart from the admin’s philosophy for wages I think Mbappe would be a better fit in Bayerns side than Olise at Madrids. Madrid is a lot of drama and to me does not seem like Olise’s vibe, plus Madrid fans have spent the last year complaining about Mbappe when hes been electric for them. Idk makes more sense to me that Mbappe should leave Madrid probably wont but that makes more sense to me

Im doing the secondary for UTMB and they ask “please provide a research statement, giving further detail regarding scientific interests, publications, past research and research you hope to do.”

The prompt before this essentially asks “which programs are you interested in and why would this program be a good match for your future endeavors?” So im finding it hard not to overlap the “research statement” prompt with this secondary, and both essays for MD PhD in my primary application. Does anyone have some insight on what exactly they are asking?

My current lab is in oncology also but it is very toxic and stressful. Im thinking of leaving but Im worried about how that would be viewed by adcoms

Basically title, looking for 2-3 other applicants to have a group where we exchange secondaries to pre write, proof read, edit etc. if others want to start their own groups in this post also feel free to comment/reply to comments!

Kind of a rant/seeking for advice.

For some context, I joined this lab about 9 months ago and initially it was fine. I was doing a lot of work and the PI seemed to be happy I was taking over a lot. The lab is small just the PI and a staff scientist, so me joining took a lot off of their plate. Randomly after a few months I was called into my PIs office and I had assumed it would be like a monthly check in type thing where he asks me if everything is going okay etc. but instead he spends an hour telling me Im essentially not meeting his expectations and that if I dont change fast I would receive a bad evaluation and subsequently get “let go”. I was honestly shocked because I have been pushing all the projects and have generated lots of data at just 2 months in. Its been even more stressful since then with the PI constantly lauding the potential of firing me over my head while I work extremely hard. Im exhausted and just want to leave but to transition within my workplace Id have to work here for 1 year total. I just feel really alone in this, the staff scientist isnt really helpful in lab or for advice. It just feels really toxic and every day feels like a dredge to get things done because every interaction with my PI eats at my motivation to do anything for this man. At the same time I want to do a PhD and my PI has worried me by saying if I do leave it would be a red flag and affect my chances of admission or even finding another lab job.
