Should I be concerned?
Bought the house one year ago and is around 100 years old. This crack has been there and I haven’t noticed any change in it. We did home inspection but I recall basement being full of stuff so not sure if inspector noticed them or not. I don’t see anything in the report. Should i worry?
CIBC Costco MC
Can I use this to pay my CIBC Costco Mastercard?
App down?
Can’t sign in this morning. Says : “Something went wrong. Try that again.” Is it down or is it just me?
How does Neobanc work?
I just recently found out about Chexy and Neobanc. I have also recently tried using Chexy for a payment that should go out in a few days. While waiting on that I got curious about Neobanc and I am still confused how it works lol 😅 With Chexy you pay bill, rent, insurance etc through bill payment or PAD option that get charged to a credit card for a fee. You get rewards on CC depending on the card and some aeroplan points on Chexy. But for Neobanc, you can even pay Credit Card with another credit card? Like I can pay a card that earns 2% on purchase with another card that will give me more? What’s the benefit? I have Scotiabank Momentum Infinite, Tangerine, Canadian Tire, CIBC Costco cards to pay? Can I pay rent, bills, mortgage, taxes with it? What’s the charges for using their services?
Need Suggestion for repairing a hole in Vinyl siding
I made a hole in the vinyl siding on the front of the house thinking of moving the electrical box a bit higher but later found the the wire coming frombasement and not top and is too short. I don't want to replace the wire. How can I hide the hole or repair it? I am fine with either.
Foundation Repair
Did we do this right? Any thoughts or concerns? I’m in southern Canada (GTA). Sealed the cracks and voids with hydraulic and anchoring cement to prevent water. Planning to do waterproofing in this immediate area. How good is flax seal liquid rubber bond with cement?
Savings Account
I am thinking of opening saving account with tangerine to get promotional 4.5% interest rate. How easy it is to transfer money between Tangerine and Scotiabank? Will I also need a checking account with tangerine to transfer money between the two?
More Problems?
Is this window in basement leaking? The insulation was wet when we cut it open. The sill is wet and dark. Concrete around the sill is crumbling.
Should I be concerned?
Found this under a membrane stuck to the foundation. How to go about repairs?
Should I be concerned?
Found cracks/opening on the exterior foundation wall hidden behind a membrane. No cracks inside the basement. Filled the voids on the outside with hydraulic and anchoring cement. Might parge above grade next year. Should I still be concerned and call a structural engineer?
Foundation issue?
This corner has been getting some water when it pours outside. Turns out the Eavesthrough were overflowing on this corner and water would pool under the drainage rocks. Fixed the eavesdrop and no water in the basement since. Have been running dehumidifier in basement since the beginning of summer 6 hours a day. Humidity remains between 50 to 70. Planning to regrade outside and remove the insulation at the top to inspect further. Any thing else I should do? Mold? Structural? Foundational?
Home Improvement Category
Looking to purchase Furnace filter online. They are special size so I can buy them from either FurnaceFilter.ca or Amazon. Wondering if I buy from FurnaceFilter.ca will I qualify for 2% cash back if I have home improvement category selected?
EPP Plan
I ordered an EPP plan last weekend with bell while also porting from Freedom to Bell. I choose June 8 as activation date but I still haven’t received a SIM card. What’s the timeline usually? What happens on Monday if I still don’t have the Bell SIM card?
Corporate Plan
I recently switched to a corporate plan with Bell Canada for $35/month with 60GB (Canada-only).
On paper it seems like a pretty solid deal, but I’m curious what others think.
Did I make the right call here, or are there better plans out there right now in the same price range?
If anyone has seen better deals or has experience with similar plans, I’d appreciate the insight.
Scotiabank Reimbursed Only Part of My Ultimate Package Fee – Can I Get the Rest Back?
I recently called Scotiabank to request reimbursement of the monthly fee charged on my Ultimate Package account.
During my first call, the connection was lost due to a network issue on my end. I called back immediately and, after waiting on hold for more than 20 minutes, I spoke with another representative who agreed to reimburse $25 of the $30.95 fee.
When I asked why the full amount could not be reimbursed, especially since this was the first time I had incurred the fee, I was told that the representative's manager had only approved a maximum reimbursement of $25 over the phone. For the remaining $5.95, I was advised to visit a branch and speak with someone in person.
I accepted the $25 reimbursement since it was better than nothing, and I may ask about the remaining amount at a branch when I get a chance. However, I am confused by the different responses I received. During the first call, the representative said they would submit a request for review rather than issue an immediate reimbursement. On the second call, the representative was able to provide a reimbursement right away after speaking with their manager.
Why were the outcomes of the two calls different? Is it still possible to have the remaining $5.95 reimbursed, given that this was my first time being charged the fee?
Account Fee
Does anyone know what the cutoff time is for the daily minimum balance requirement on Scotiabank accounts for the monthly fee waiver?
I keep the required $6,000 minimum balance in my chequing account to avoid the monthly fee. Last night, an unexpected charge was posted and my balance dropped below $6,000 sometime overnight. I only found out when I woke up because the low balance notification came around 12:41 AM today.
As soon as I saw it this morning, I transferred money into the account to bring the balance back above $6,000. However, the banking app shows the transaction itself as posted with yesterday’s date, even though the notification came after midnight.
I’m wondering if this brief overnight dip would still trigger the monthly account fee or if restoring the balance first thing in the morning is usually okay. Has anyone experienced something similar or know how Scotia determines the daily cutoff/closing balance?
Question About Affirm Loan After Partial Order Cancellation
I recently bought two items from RONA under the same order number and financed the purchase through Affirm. I later decided to cancel the order. RONA told me the order would be cancelled, but only part of it was actually cancelled.
At the moment, one of the two items is still expected to be delivered and I may return it in-store once it arrives. The other item has already been cancelled.
My Affirm loan is still showing the original approved amount for both items. Should I contact Affirm now about the order change, or should I wait for RONA to update the financing on their end? Will RONA automatically notify Affirm and adjust the loan amount accordingly?
