Books written in vernacular Cantonese

Hi all, not sure if this is the place to post this (if not, feel free to remove it), but I will be visiting HK again soon and was wondering if there are any good bookstores where I can purchase books written in vernacular Cantonese? My family is Cantonese and I started learning Canto earlier this year (after learning Mando on and off the last couple of years). I'm already working through a series of textbooks called Hong Kong Cantonese. 多謝晒大家! P.S. Love the local food and hiking trails :)

Offering: English (native) | Seeking: Mandarin and/or Cantonese (native)

33M. Born and raised in Australia. Been learning Mando on and off for the last 6 years. Been exposed to Canto since I was a kid. Used to watch a lot of TVB dramas (武侠和修仙之类的). I also enjoy watching Chinese anime (haven't watched live action dramas in years) and listening to 民歌. Open to all forms of studying. I can read and write Chinese, my listening is ok but my speaking sucks haha. Happy to assist with your English learning. Mainly interested in fitness, ancient history, hiking and simple living. I don't really game much. Happy to talk about anything though!

Learning Chinese and Japanese or Latin at the same time?

Currently at an intermediate level in Chinese and was thinking of picking up either Japanese (started and quit a couple of months ago due to time restraints and my inability to 100% remember hiragana and katakana lol) or Latin. Whatever combo I choose, I will also end up continuing with later on with some uni courses. Anyone ever done this? If so, how did you find it? I heard knowing some Chinese helps with learning Japanese kanji? I know nothing about Latin, but I am very interested in ancient Roman culture and history. I heard Latin is more about reading and translation so I don't expect to be using it to speak to others about their day etc. Is this true? Happy to hear everyone's thoughts. Thanks.

34M - looking for long-term connections

From Australia. Good friends have all either moved away or are busy with married life/their partners. Just looking for people to chat with. No minors please. I've been trying to improve my Mandarin and Cantonese the last few years so if you can also speak Mando or Canto that would be an awesome bonus! It's okay if you don't. Interests: gym, calisthenics, ancient history, minimalism, and hiking. Down to chat about life or anything in general. If we vibe well, I'm open to hanging out in real life.

How to avoid stocking up on new clothing during massive sales

Long time lurker, first time poster. Dunno if this has been asked before, but recently I was downsizing my wardrobe and donating unwanted/unused pieces of clothing. I realised I had so many unworn tshirts (new with tags) that I had purchased in the last few years during times of massive sales. I had purchased them thinking they were a good deal (and they were/still are). I am a tshirt and sweatpants/shorts sort of guy so that is why I purchased them in the first place. The problem is, I normally wear the same set of tshirts every day to bed and then when going out for errands and working out. My clothes are all good-quality and normally last many years so there really isn't a need for me to buy too often. However, despite donating them, I still can't seem to shrug off that feeling of wanting to stock up on more clothing (because they're on sale and bitfl quality) whenever I see a sale for the brands that I wear. If anyone else has gone through something similar, how did you manage it? I don't consider myself particularly susceptible to marketing since I barely use social media, I'm not into fashion and am normally very sensible with spending. Thanks.

Offering: English (native) | Seeking: Japanese

Hi there, I'm a 34M from Sydney, Australia looking to connect with a Japanese native speaker or someone who is also learning Japanese. I am an absolute beginner. Was studying Hiragana and Katakana and working through Genki I a couple of months ago before life got in the way. Most likely forgotten all that though haha. Interests include: gym, calisthenics, hiking, ancient history, anime and minimalism. If relevant, I also know Mandarin and Cantonese. I am super laid back and am looking forward to making new connections (hopefully long-term ones haha). Open to meeting up as well if you prefer face-to-face learning (hiking in Sydney on the weekends? :D)
