Customizing Brushes for Art WITHOUT DOWNLOADING BRUSHES

THIS IS NOT A QUESTION FOR FINDING THAT MAGICAL BRUSH BUT ABOUT BRUSH SETTINGS. I AM TRYING TO CREATE A BRUSH (customizing one, in fact).
Hi subreddit!

I used to be a traditional artist, but I recently switched to CSP for digital art. To help myself adapt better, I want to create a similar color and effect of my in-use Alcohol Markers and sharpies into CSP, but I do NOT want to download other brushes.

I use the Touch Markers (48 pcs) with ultra-fine Sharpies.
CSP version 5, Device is Windows Colorful X15 with Huion Tablet+Huion Pen (Kamvas)

  1. Is there any way to customize the existing pens in CSP? All I see in CSP is watercolor stuff, but not really markers, so I was wondering.
  2. Can I create a customized Color Panel so I can only use some colors that I want (Like, other colors are locked or something) ?
  3. How do I adjust an existing brush to create a similar brushstroke as in real-life markers? (This wouldn't matter much, but if there are any solutions, please tell me)
  4. how do you change the settings of the paper to make it seem more realistic?

If anyone have experiences of coding their own traditional pens in (or just know the settings too well), please help!

Thanks!

Edit: I am FULLY familliar with all the settings of CSP, but I just need help creating the brush settings for Alcohol Markers and sharpies. I also have NO idea of what color codes my markers have, so I also need help on that.
I really wasn't asking for how to change settings, but more or less on how to costomize it so it LOOKS like markers.

Can't Draw "Properly"

I'm really just a beginner teen artist, but recently I realized something during projects: My school projects ALWAYS, whether put into thought or not, have a BETTER art style/technique/look than the ones I draw at home (which I draw with purpose). I don't know what I was doing when doing my art projects, but I really just skipped this and that, and it just turn out amazing overall. I really want to improve, but my hands won't let me.

There are a pair of example of my most recent drawings. I am VERY sorry for the bad quality of the pictures.

In case you didn't know, the first was my homework (excuse me for scrubbing on my name)
Second was my first digital, third was kinda my most recent one.

What differences do you notice, and why do you think have caused that? Is there a mindset change in doing those two stuff? How do I bring the strengths of my school-project art into my personal art?

About JYPE Using AI in Skz's MV(s)

As in title.

What do you guys think of JYPE using AI in skz's MV (Divine) and Teaser (ThisNThat Album tease)?

Edit: From what I know, Stray Kids themselves haven't been using AI, but the company JYPE is using AI more and more frequently. Personally' I don't have ANY strong opinions against their act, butI wish companies would at least discuss it with the artists before making decisions like this. Yes, AI is useful, but I hope artists have a say in whether and how AI is used in their work.

People definitly use AI nowadays everyday, but for producers such as 3RACHA, I think the world haven't (and would never) collapse if they don't use AI in making of songs. MVs are fine (as long as its NOT mostly AI and is so bad that I start to hate the song bc of AI) in my opinion.

I posted this just to ask about other STAY's opinion and to express my own.

Please stop sending comments such as "I hate AI" without explanation and "asia as a whole has embraced genai ". Please keep the discussion focused on AI usage in music and the company’s choices. I am not trying to attack AI users, JYPE, Stray Kids, or any group of people.

Can't Draw Faces/Heads

Hi everyone!

I don't have a style currently in drawing, but I really want to start in a realism / semi-realistic style and work it through (when drawing humans, ofc). Currently I can do a little bit of basic body, proportions, clothes and other stuff, but I just can't seem to figure out how to draw a complete head. It happens SO often with a weird but okay body, full clothes, background sketches, and no head.

My heads don't have volume at ALL and is just 2D paper (when my coloring of everything else shows that it clearly have volume), and I can't figure out HOW to draw them right either. Can anyone help me with probably pictures or drawings to help me understand a head and help me on how to draw?

Critiques, long "essays" and pictures appreaciated. Beginner learner, needs visualizations to best understand advices!

P.S. Would it be cool if I draw with no heads for a while? hehe

Edit: I was told to put pictures of my previous drawings, so here is one (and the only digital). It's a screenshot from one of my "considered bad" drawings, and you can clearly see that its really bad

I feel disgusted from this head.

I really hate the eyes and mouth, for I have no idea how to draw it. I dunno about the nose, but since I want to change my style anyway, I might just delete this type completely.

Strange Pose Perspective

Picture found from Pinterest.

My interpretation in CSP.

As you can see in the two pictures above, there's a weird perspective in the original reference and I can't figure out how to draw the legs correct.

My questions for this pose:

  1. Why is the body so small seen in my breakdown?
  2. How to draw the left (to us) leg's thigh?
  3. How do I draw the legs to make it seem like the picture (all 3d and such) but not leaving a feeling that the thighs are too small?

NOTE that I'm trying to break it down like a roblox character to understand and draw the character. Dotted lines are the "supposed" middle line of the front panel. The circle on shoulders represent shoulders, literally.

Question about Mind Maps and Flashcards

I started using mind maps recently when studying (I'm trying to learn a brand new subject/area) , but I can't seem to remember what I've drawn after and cannot visualize the connections. I had thought of redrawing those tables and bubbles and such, but am worried that I cannot remember it all. I could remember some basic stuff, but not the whole thing.

In this case, should I start to use flashcards to help me remember the connections and nouns? What should I do to help myself remember more? If the solution is to redraw it again on another page, how should I do it?

Making Frames Longer

I'm trying to make the "making ____ a game manu screen" trend and am trying to animate the trend. Now I'm faced with short frames and (as you can see in the video) whatever I try to make it longer, it just won't listen to me. What's wrong? Or can frames only last 4 blocks?

Animation Smooth Help

8FPS, 33 frames in total

This is a part of my CSP (Clip Paint Studio) animation. The stick figure on the left feels a bit off when the animation plays, but I'm having trouble identifying exactly what's wrong. Since the animation is fully hand-drawn, I'm also not sure how to fix the issues I'm seeing.

Also, if anybody can, please help me make this animation smoother! Does it look unnatural or awkward?

This is my first time animating as well, so any critique or suggestion is okay so I can improve.

Edit: I just rewatched the video and realized that it is laggy. Quality is bad, sorry....

How can I better blend anime/Donghua and realism in my faces?

Hi!

I'm trying to develop a style somewhere between anime, Donghua and semi-realism.

Currently comfortable drawing clothing and character design, but I struggle a lot with faces.

Some issues I keep running into:

  • Eyes often end up looking too manga/anime.
  • Noses become either very anime-like or fully realistic, with little in-between. Do not know how to pick something inbetween
  • I have trouble designing mouths unless I commit to a specific style. Same: cannot pick an inbetween
  • Hair tends to look either completely anime or completely Donghua, or practically "ugly" when inbetween (on digital looks worse, am adjusting to drawing digital)

My goal is a style that sits between manga and realistic, but right now the facial features feel like they're coming from different art styles and don't fit together. I also cannot fit a lot of realistic inside to make my art look good.

I've attached some examples of my recent work. What specifically makes these faces feel inconsistent, and what should I focus on improving? Other than styles, is there anything I could improve on?

Critique is appreciated.

Below are recent art. (I'm extremely sorry if the picture quality isn't good)

Most recent unfinished drawing, left is my try on my OC and right is \"copied\" from an reference. Chose anime style for the nose and mouth but feels like the mouth and nose could be more realistic. You cans ee how my hair and overall face looks werid. (Especially my OC. This is Digital)

The reference in question (See up)

Part of my traditional recent art. You can see that the clothes are fine but the face shape and hair straight out look weird and unnatural. Mouth is also a problem...

Need help in drawing human/human faces

Yep, this is the overall question.

I'm trying to get a style that is stuck between anime ( as well as DongHua and manga) and realistic. I'm currently okay at clothes and hands and stuff, but I cant draw faces with both styles: it always happens that I can draw realistically or cartoony, but I just can't get them to be here at the same time.
Ex: The eyes might be too manga, nose might be way too anime, mouth is just at annother dimension (I just can't get the mouth right, can't even draw it without choosing an specific artstyle)

And also hair. It seems I can only do anime style or Donghua Style, which is a pain.

The whole face is just literally a mess and bad mix of Asian artstyles. I can't even get the face angles right without choosing between the two/three artstyles.

Please help!

P.S. Have men's 3d model always a cone??? I saw that in a Donghua and am confused

Book Rec For Picky Reader

Hi! I am a 13 yo female who thinks that fantasy/dystopian/mystery is my taste, but honestly my taste is all over the place (if including chinese books. I'm Bilingual) . Sometimes I love darker psychological stuff, sometimes sci-fi, sometimes fantasy. But please give me more books that include a amazing plot and unique characters.
Give me blood, killing, violence, love, schools, whatever. However, make sure its a book that can't be put down after picking it up (fast paced, good story plot) and do NOT make romance a complete full line in the story.

Have read lots of books including Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson (series trio), Last Hope School for Magical Delinquents, The Giver (As well as Gathering Blue and Messenger), Keeper of the Lost Cities, The Housemaid, Promised Neverland (manga) etc.

I read both chinese and english, so if you found any books that I might also like in another language, please THROW IT OVER (Chinese readers: 已看过斗罗大陆,民调局异闻录,哈利波特,十日终焉等)

Which type of studying/making art is unforgivable to you?

I've seen a lot of people saying that you should use references to study, some sketching over their loved drawings to learn how to draw lines, anatomy, color, clothes (and more, but these are some that I use when studying), and some just tells you to make your own art and do not "copy" other's art.

I'm extremely confused at what's going on with art society here, but I'm curious and want to know which method do you use and what you use it for. Also, which method (it can be not from the ones I just said) is the most unforgivable to you?

For me I use the "draw over" method ^((I'm traditional, but use digital when studying)) and use that to study clothes ^((Ty to that one animation poster that taught me about folds and now I'm better at it)), anatomy ^((I hate it when it goes 1:2:4)), lighting, lines ^((my hands shake too much, but I think the pictures I've drawn over helped me on this problem)), and also used a poster and used that to figure out my own way of representing figures (anatomy).
To me, unforgivable is that you trace someone's art, change a teeny bit, and post it and say it is your own art.

How to Color w/o Tracing Sketch

I use alcohol markers when coloring my drawings, and often trace my art with either a pen or a Ultra-thin Sharpie before coloring so I can see what I am working with. However, the sharpie often get bleed through (or got wet again out of no reason) while coloring, and I'm seriously thinking whether I should give up tracing completely.

Right now I think I shouls work on how to color without borders, but if I erase everything I won't know where details and other stuff belongs. How do I make my drawings just visible for my to color?

(P.S. How to use alcohol markers for extra small details, only have the fine tip and block tip)

Seriously Needs Motivating

I'm a student who just can't set my mind into studying. I really want to get into Harvard in the future, but can't get myself to even start a SINGLE bit of studying ahead of my current classmates (I'm kinda at the top of my class) to outrun them.

I don't have a phone, but Youtube and everything else I need for studying are on the same laptop. I can't convince myself to stop wasting time and I think I need someone to help me bend this situation. Every bit of my day is just "wasted" "wasted" "wasted" :-(

I'm not sure whether it is motivation or displine I'm missing, but the happiness (or the feeling) when I achieve my goals and learn something new had disappeared into thin air. I also have a bunch of other goals but just can't seem to remember them/forgets to talk to my parents about them/forgets to research. Doomscroll is seriously messing with my memories.

Edit: I can't pull myself to make my yt acc full of motivation vids...sometimes when I'm bored or something else I would delete a lot of these videos.

Please help!
