What was the siren song ?

"All the things you want it to be ... then all the things you never wish for; it was the delicious itch you go to scratch to find it's under the skin. You can't reach it, so the delicious itch becomes unbearable. Told you what you most want is what you most can't have, and what you most can't have is what you already had... and lost...

It was the song of all the promises I failed to keep ... And it told me I don't really wanna go home... "

When I heard this dialogue, I felt the weight; it left me thinking about my life for a while.

As bones fan i am impressed by castle

So after completing my Bones marathon, I was on the hunt for a new show along those lines, and I started watching Castle.

At first, I had low expectations for this show as it seemed more light-hearted and fluffier than Bones, which had a more gritty nature.

But I have to tip my hat to the writers of Castle; they have managed to impress me. I have completed the whole run of Castle, and I have to say the writing, the tension, and the maturity of relationships and events are much better on Castle compared to Bones.

The end in the end

So, I have completed my first watch marathon of Bones. Here are some of my thoughts I wanted to share:

  1. The first six seasons are the best seasons of the series; they have intrigue, great writing, and curious cases.

  2. Booth and Bones are the heart of the show. After season 6, they tried to give other characters some space, but in my opinion, it did not work. Bones and Booth are the heart; everything they do on screen is great.

  3. Season 8 is the most boring season that I watched. It was difficult to get through, and I skipped most of the Arastoo storyline. It was just too childish writing. The writers in this season could not hide their own political views for the sake of the characters. It felt like it wasn't the characters talking, but the writer doing the talking; the invisible hand became visible.

  4. Seasons 9 to 11 are an improvement, but they are nowhere close to the first six. I think that is because the focus is not on Booth and Bones in those seasons.

  5. For Season 12, I like the ending. It left the door open for more seasons and movies with Booth and Bones. Season 12 worked for me because it focused on Booth and Bones' dynamic, which is what makes this show, and I wish writers had realized this before.

  6. Moving forward, if there are new seasons or movies, I wish we get to see more of Booth and Bones solving more crimes and having fun.

I feel bittersweet at the end because I spent the past few months with these characters, and they became a part of my life for some time. I want to re-watch, but I can’t, maybe just the first four seasons after some time.

What is your all-time favorite Booth and Bones dialogues?

On season 9, Episode 17 ("The Repo Man in the Septic Tank"), and the scene in the SUV reminded me of just how incredible the writing for Booth and Brennan's relationship really is.

Bones using a marine biology metaphor to deliver one of the most profoundly romantic declarations of love in the entire series is just peak Bones.

Bones: "The new intern thought that he and I would be having sex."

Booth: "Whoa... whoa. What?"

Bones: "Sex. He thought we would have sex."

Booth: "Wait... the Cuban guy? He flat-out told you he wants to have sex with you?"

Bones: "Yes. He was quite brazen. Although I imagine all my male interns want to have sex with me."

Booth: "You do realize that you're talking out loud, what you just said right there?"

Bones: "You're upset. You know I'd never sleep with him."

Booth: "Well, you did tell me once that you thought that monogamy was unnatural."

Bones: "Yes. That's true. Before I realized that we're symbiotic. Like a clown fish and a sea anemone."

Booth: "What are you talking about? Nemo? That doesn't sound very romantic."

Bones: "I disagree. You and I, we're bound to one another. So much so that I don't feel I could survive without you. You nurture me, you protect me. You're my home. If I were to damage that by a meaningless dalliance, it would be like killing myself. Something I would never do."

Booth: "That sounds a little better."

Bones: "I would never let anything compromise the life we share, Booth. I love you."

Booth: "Okay, that's romantic."

For a woman who spent her entire life behind emotional armor because of her childhood abandonment, hearing her call Booth her "home" always hits so deep. She didn't have to change the way her scientific brain works to show how much she loves him.

It got me thinking about all the other incredible lines they've shared over 12 seasons. Whether it's funny, heartbreaking, or incredibly romantic , what is your favorite Booth and Brennan dialogue? Drop the quotes below!

Anyone else annoyed by Arastoo’s lack of accountability in the Puppeteer storyline? (Season 11)

I’m watching Season 11, and I just finished "The Monster in the Closet" (the introduction of the Puppeteer).

I can’t stop thinking about that specific dialogue between Brennan and Arastoo, and it really frustrated me.

When Brennan asks Arastoo if he feels guilty for failing to find the Puppeteer link while she was away for those six months, Arastoo basically shrugs it off and says his "conscience is clear."

Brennan is clearly deeply bothered by this, and she ends up taking the entire burden of guilt onto her own shoulders.

Am I the only one who thinks Arastoo completely deflected responsibility here?

She cannot do this job forever. She has every right to step back, raise her kids, and trust that the people she spent a decade mentoring can handle a skeleton without her. If a world-class institution collapses because one person takes six months off, that is a failure of the team, not the person who left.

Wipe that smirk of your face

"Boy, you got rights... and lefts. Ups and downs and middles. So what? You don't get to instruct anything around here! [...] WIPE THAT SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE! [...] I'm gonna take my witness' testimony whether the hell you like it or not!"

This is pure cinema i remember seeing this dialogue and jumping out of my seat .

Season 8 is boring

I have been on a *Bones* marathon for the past few months. I just got done with a season 8 and I was wondering, is it just me that felt that the 8th season was such a drag?

Especially the Arstoo and Cam storyline. It is so out of place .
