WEED

Anyone else grow up thinking weed = ruined lives, and then find out as an adult it’s like ohhh wait,… it’s actually kind of amazing?

So I grew up around addiction, I have seen it up close, grown men getting completely dumbed down by it, losing themselves. Because of that, the perception that weed was evil was always in my head.

Fast forward to now and I actually tried it properly for the first time in a while, and man… it’s peaceful????? Like you could be stressed, mind all foggy, and it just kind of untangles you. First hit or two in and I already feel this little wave of happiness hit, and after that I just feel better. You’re not necessarily numb or checked out, just genuinelyyy betterr. Bonus point if you’re doing it with someone you fw. I’m not saying what I grew up seeing wasn’t real, because it absolutely was. But I think we’re quick to paint it as this one-note evil when it’s also been the thing that helped people actually function again, or get unstuck from stuff they’d been stuck in.
Not trying to start a whole debate in the comments, I just wanted to put this out there. If anyone’s had a similar change of heart, or weed’s genuinely helped you in your work or personal life, I’d love to hear it.

Also, does anyone have a go-to local stuff for the dry throat/cottonmouth thing that lingers a day or two after smoking? Trying to figure out what actually gets rid of it, or stops it from happening in the first place.

For those who have tried shrooms how different are they from weed, in terms of feeling?

2026 and I still need a visa to visit my neighbor’s house? Didn’t we fight for independence just to lock ourselves out of each other’s countries?

Small vent, bear with me.

I’m trying to plan a trip to Morroco and just found out I need a visa. A visa. To go to another African country. In 2026.

Meanwhile in Europe, you get one passport and you’re moving freely across a whole continent. No wahala. But us? We can’t even move freely among ourselves.
And the annoying part is, it’s not like there’s no plan for this. The AU actually wrote up a Free Movement Protocol back in 2018. Over 30 countries signed it. Almost a decade later, only 4 have actually ratified it. Four. Out of 54 countries.

So is it greed? Is it just old colonial-era deals nobody wants to touch? Or is it that some of these governments are just too comfortable holding onto control to actually let us move freely among ourselves? We talk all this Pan-Africanism, “Africa for Africans” energy, but when it’s time to actually tear down the borders between us, everybody goes quiet.

Someone explain the bureaucracy to me because this isn’t adding up. Are we the problem or am I just ignorant?

BURNOUT

Just wondering if anyone’s experienced this, like you get so worn down from work that you start chasing things that make you feel something. Drinking more, smoking weed, partying, doing stuff you don’t normally do, because you just don’t feel anything anymore. Like numb. No real satisfaction from anything by the end of the day.
Is this a burnout thing? A work-health thing? Or is this leaning toward something more like early psychosis that I’m just not seeing in myself?

PSYCHEDELICS

So I recently delved into the world of psychedelics and have been reading more about psychedelics lately, like psilocybin etc, and I’ve realized it’s actually helping people ,it’s kind of reshaping the mental health space in a few countries. It’s especially helped people dealing with alcoholism, and other forms of addiction, in clinical trials and studies. I’m just wondering ,with all the stigma that still surrounds psychedelics in our country ,is this something our medical professionals are even looking at? Is there any research happening here? Just want to open this up for discussion. I think it could really revolutionize a lot of things and help treat people if we do it properly.

PIZZAMAN CHICKENMAN🙂

I’m bored so…. I’m gonna rant about Pizzaman and you’re all gonna listen.

So I ordered Jollof from Pizzaman yesterday and it took SO many hours to arrive (ordered at 7 arrived at 9pm🙂).

And honestly, this isn’t the first, second or third time, this has been happening for such a long time to me. There was actually a time it took five hours to arrive. Five hours. I’m not even exaggerating. In all this, no one will call to explain the reason for the delay, nothing. Absolutely silence. More like sit back and relax till they are ready to bring your food to you

At this point I think I just need to accept that I’m the one allowing them to do this to me. (I’m too lazy to cook😔)
Their customer service is honestly one of the worst I’ve dealt with, same generic copy-paste responses even from actual human agents, and no resolution whatsoever, and it gets even worse if you order through the app. It’s genuinely wild that the only way to guarantee you get your food on time is to physically walk in and get it yourself or use a third party (BOLT FOOD).

What gets me is this company has such a huge name, running promotions constantly and paying influencers left and right, but somehow can’t sort out basic delivery and customer service? Like where is that marketing budget going, because it’s clearly not going into fixing this.
Even with Bolt Food, they still brought me a completely wrong order. (I got a refund, wink wink).

Am I the only one experiencing this?

DID I ASK FOR TOO MUCH?

Met a guy 3-4 weeks ago, hooked up the day after we met, and we’ve hooked up 4-5 times since. It’s not just physical though, we have really good conversations in person, talk about his work, his plans, swap movie recommendations. Genuinely fun, interesting dynamic.

When I got home after our first night together, we texted for hours and it flowed fine. But after that, I noticed a pattern: if I texted something related to a conversation we’d had in person, he’d just react to it (like, a thumbs up or heart) instead of actually responding.
I hate that in general, from friends, anyone, except my boss because obviously I can’t say anything there.(hahahaha)

I let it go for a while, but eventually told him, in person, calmly, that I don’t like reactions and would rather he just say “okay” or “alright” or something. He got defensive, said reacting is basically the same as saying “alright,” and that he didn’t know what I wanted from him.
…We just sat in silence after that. Neither of us said anything else. I ordered an Uber and left. I’ve decided not to text him again.
So,was I asking too much? Was it even my place to bring that up, given we only met 3-4 weeks ago? Maybe I don’t have the right to ask him to change how he texts when we’ve never defined what this is beyond hooking up and having good conversations.

Side note: I know I’ve caught some feelings because he’s smart, nerdy, exactly my type, but I don’t think I’m in deep enough that it’ll hurt. It’s more admiration than love I think…anyways

I NEED TO TOUCH GRASS

Hola everyone, not your usual TUESDAY conversation starter. Bear with me.

I don’t do casual. I always need some sort of emotional connection before hooking up with anyone, serious or not ,always have. (I know, I know…. BORINGGGG.)

But I’d been drowning in stress, and I hit that mood where you think you know what, this weekend I’m going to not care about anything and be someone I’m absolutely not. So at a party I see this guy I’d never spoken to but vaguely knew through a mutual friend, and I think: what’s the worst that can happen? Hook up, forget the stress, forget about him, move on.

The vibes were good. We talked, it was nice, we hooked up after the party, and then hooked up again a few days later (I initiated both times… sikeee 🤣).
And now, surprise to absolutely no one but me, I’m catching feelings. (Ughhh, I hate limerence.)

It’s not mutual. He still replies, but it’s the polite kind, and we all know the difference between someone texting because they want to and someone just being nice.
Then, because I was clearly on a roll, I got drunk while texting him and said another guy’s name. He probably didn’t even notice, because he doesn’t care that much (I also acted like I didn’t just do that and didn’t feel the need to apologise ,it’s not that deep, plus he didn’t ask about it, so…).
Anyway, the vibe and the conversations have just been off, and as delusional as I am, I know when it’s time to dip. So now here I am, daydreaming about him while he could not care less about me, and I know the answer is take the L, block, go touch grass. I know.

I just need internet strangers to confirm I’m not the only one who’s pulled a stunt like this. Be gentle.

Send help.

P.S. I’ve blocked him and started my moving-on journey. Just needed an avenue to share my FOR THE PLOT FAILURE. Gotta lock in now, if I can’t get my delulu love, I gotta make some moneyyyy. 💅
