I am in no way a reptile expert nor do I own snakes at the moment (I hope to someday). But I thoroughly enjoy watching ball python and Boa clutch hatchings and seeing all of the different morphs and beautiful colors the snakes can create.

Though, I’ve noticed that almost every person that breeds them has their female snakes in these rack shelves where they lay their eggs in a box like enclosure. I am just curious and would like to know if this is a temporary thing for the mother snakes to lay their eggs or if they stay there full time. I would also like to know if keeping the females in standard pet enclosures (like a 4*2*2 enclosure) would affect it. I assume they often do it this way so it’s easier to collect the eggs, but I wanted to know if anyone who breeds pythons or any other reptile does it differently.

My partner’s mother has been struggling with housing for the past few months. She has these two beautiful dogs that have been with her for years, and have been my boyfriend’s childhood dogs. He and his family were homeless before, and had paid thousands of dollars to have the dogs boarded while they stayed in shelters until they got proper housing.

Fast forward to now, my boyfriend is living with me, but his mom is in another predicament. She is going to become homeless if she doesn’t surrender the dogs. She has no money, no car, and no support from anyone as well as a diabetic child to care for. She was offered a place but they are refusing to let her bring the girls even though she’s explained their situation. No choice but to surrender them to a shelter or post them online In her area, which is a few hours from me. The thing is, her ex-husband (man who abused said dogs for the first few years of their life) is in the area and will find out if these dogs end up at a shelter near him. The shelters are also at full capacity.

My boyfriend is heartbroken, as am I. These babies mean everything to us. But I am in a situation as well where taking the dogs in means I’ll be kicked out of my home where I stay with my parents. I have called every shelter within a 2 - 3 hour radius, sobbed on the phone, begged rescues to take them in. But everyone is at full capacity except for the places that will euthanize dogs if they’re full. These are the sweetest dogs in the world and I cannot fathom them ending up dead due to no fault of their own. I have tried everything, but it feels as though I’ve reached a dead end. What can I do?
