I did a few track days..
I really enjoyed it. This was a few years back. And it's true what they say, you learn so much. 2010 RR

My son and I stopping at the Temple near Mulholland, great place to unwind and see some beautiful architecture.
Pic of the day I dropped it off at my "friends" shop...never saw it, the new engine, seats, tires, and body work and $1400 ever again..
My son sitting on it the day we purchased it, and the final result, DR. Pepper colors, with new everything..it caught fire 6 months later and burned half of the bike..It screamed.
My son worked for BMW and was able to ride the coolest motorcycles. He rode this for a promo shoot for LB BMW.
$900/sat for 6 years, because the owner thought he blew the engine (Cam Chain Tensioner) $80 part, 30 minutes labor. This was the 2nd K1200S I purchased because of Cam Chain Tensioner issues...I painted it black and put a 2 Brothers Shorty exhaust on it...sounded like a Ferrari.
My late son and his 2nd ever bike (bought by himself). I have his bike now "Hanny" and it's hard to ride it because of emotional issues., but I'll never sell her.
I saw Marco Andretti in an Albertson's doing promo during the 2013 Long Beach Grand Prix, just sitting there, people walking around him...they had no idea who he was...he was at a Soft Drink booth setup...his handlers and industry people were all around him...and he's just sitting there waiting for peopIe to get a picture with him.. I was like "Hey man, wanna sign my bike?" he jumped up and didn't know I had the coolest K12100R in Long Beach and was like "I really want to ride this bike bro!" His handlers forbade him, so he just sat on it and revve'd it..
The K1200RS and helmet was signed by my Musical hero Josh Haden/Spain at an album release, and at concerts around Los Angeles...he drove a BMW car as well..His sister is married to Jack Black and Johnnie Cash covered a song written by him. Great slowcore to ride to.
My sons bike, she was stolen by the mechanic hired to put a new engine in her.
I commuted on her for 5 years in So Cal. ABS rules on the 405, 605, 101, 1, 5 etc. Lost a drag race to a Viper and had to get a new engine. I found a K1200R Sport engine with 15K miles.. and she has been perfetc until I got my GS and let her sit too long..now she awaits rebirth. That pipe on the 1200 is so damn throaty, people heard the Bavarian Symphony.
Birdy and my K1200R, Birdy is wearing a Rare THOR leather jacket for street riding.
1997 F650ST Barn find for $500 LB BMW did $800 worth of work and she was road worthy again...I repainted her and put on new shoes, so torquey. I crawled through the hills of Calico with my wife on the back, never had to stand up, just crawled up and down everything..
1997 R1200C, 2005 K1200S, 2010 S1000RR, 2007 K1200R, 1997 F650ST, 2007 R1200S, 2017 R1200GS Rallye. My son's bikes were added to this quiver after his passing The R1200S and the 2017 GS. I 'd rather have him back then his bikes, but I care for them as if they were my own.
This was my late son's bike, she was a 2010 with 75K miles on her when I got her, she was a steal at $6K. She ran like a top for 3 years as we neared 100K miles...RiRi was always maintained well. Then one day she just stopped working...After my son passed (paragliding accident) I secured an engine with 20K miles from ebay and my good friend (Racer/Mech/confidant after divorce) was going to put it in. I gave him new body work, the engine, new lights, tires, $1400 cash...he stole everything and moved back to Cambodia to avoid child support issues here in the states. It destroyed me as this was my son's pride and joy and envy of all his riding friends, just last year I found out what happened to it, 6 years of searching, following dead leads...he destroyed my confidence in trusting anyone who is eager to help with anything...I miss RiRi, but of course I miss my son much more.
I widened the seat by 12" so two adults could sit comfortably, wanted to do some desert winter camping but a guy offered me too much money for it..The tire covers are actually traction pads for if you get stuck, but of course you could just lift the cart out of any issue, but they doubled great as storage areas. I also put a head pad for the back of my head to bounce off of.
The first pic is the CL ad. I was looking for a less than high end car, my son wanted a BMW because we rode BMW motorcycle's together.
Then this popped up for $3700 and was in great shape "But we took it yearly to Mexico." Rust was an issue under the 27" thick mat and carpet. We did cut the carpet down the middle and made some repairs where it was the worst. The seat removals were a 3 day affair, I'm not that bright.
Lights to illuminate small countries, Jerry Cans with my son designing and cutting the metal and bolting together, snorkel because Land Rover, solar to power his laptop, mesh base for the lower part of the rack, and a hood accent with Barbeque paint, perfect paint to use for water /heat everything, it was almost self-leveling applying it, and lasted until I let it go.
