Always check your local retro game shop

Saw these last week at my local GameXchange and passed bc I was already spending too much on manga, went back for them today! I actually thought it was the manga until I paid and realized they weren't in manga orientation lol. I've only watched the anime and listened to the audiobooks(up to halfway through book 2) but I'm excited to get some reading done

Reflashable carts?

I'm curious if the M64 cartridges are rewritable like the Gameboy/GBC cartridges? I've got a summer cart, but I'd like to make my own custom cartridges at some point. Considering getting a Joey to do so, but if I've got 4 rewritable cartridges on the way with the launch titles I can hold off on buying repros to program for a little while. In many cases the MR carts(gb/gbc) have been good quality are able to hold saves reliably, unlike a lot of the cheaper Chinese repros

Order pending shipping info, and my cope

My very first order from about a year ago (which I received) is still pending on both Shop and the MR website with my list of orders so maybe, just maybe, my M64 shipped day one also and will be here in a few days..? 🥲

But for real, I'm super excited. Been putting off playing my 64 for a few months so I can savor the experience. Really hyped to see what titles are coming, especially since they were talking about the untapped potential of 2D platformers.

My dream is we get something in the vein of Paper Mario, that's my aesthetic, lol. Play Bug Fables, by the way, if you like Paper Mario/TTYD. Demon Tides looks cool too but I haven't tried it myself yet

Thinking about an upgrade

I've gone through a few devices, I started out with a Miyoo mini and I've currently got the rg28xx and rg35xx 2024. The 35xx is my main device, I like the Gameboy form factor and with knulli the video-out works great for those times I want to play on the tv. My only real issues with it are the d-pad and the lack of wireless/Bluetooth capabilities for scraping, updates and controller support...

I'm thinking about getting a new device, I like the Linux environment and am not really worried about playing games past ps1 or Dreamcast, I mostly stick to puzzle games and RPGs on it anyways though I've recently been messing around with Port Master and it would be nice to dive in to some more of those titles if possible. Do y'all have any recommendations for a step-up in hardware? When it comes to these handhelds I don't really know much about the hardware differences and get lost when I'm looking at specs lol

3D or 2D?

Downloading the ps4 version now, I've only played the 2D games(1&2, 3 and Monsters all on the GBC, and 4 on the DS)... What does the community recommend?! I've heard great things about this game

Revelations the Demon Slayer

Another JRPG conquered 💪 There's just something super charming about the Gameboy RPGs. I've gone through Dragon Warrior 1-3 and Infinity, any other recommendations?
