Rate the Character: Android 16

Rate the character overall in terms of how much you like them and their character portrayal.

Android 16 was a good dude, stuck to his programming with his real only deviations being his friendship with 17 and 18 and no longer on constant "Kill Goku" mode after Bulma and her dad modified him a bit. His love for animals and their bond with him and of course helping to motivate a doubtful Gohan. 16 was a ride or die, genuinely unique android.

16 gets an easy 8/10

Favorite Goku Voice Actor

  • Masako Nozawa: Original Japanese VA

  • Sean Schemmel: Primary adult Goku for Funimation/Crunchyroll (DBZ, GT, Super, Kai, Daima, and games)

  • Ian James Corlett: Early Ocean Group/Saban dub of DBZ (episodes 1–37)

  • Peter Kelamis: Ocean Group dub of DBZ (episodes 38–53 and later Cell/Buu saga segments)

  • Kirby Morrow: Ocean Group dub of DBZ (episodes 160–291)

  • Stephanie Nadolny: Child Goku in the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (Funimation dub)

  • Colleen Clinkinbeard: Young/child Goku in specific flashbacks in Kai and media segments

  • Barbara Goodson: Child Goku in Harmony Gold dub

  • Lex Lang & Philece Sampler: Adult and child Goku in the Bang Zoom! dub of Dragon Ball Super (Toonami Asia)

Nozawa all the way when I'm in the mood for the Japanese audio. She voices Goku so profoundly unique and befittingly. Sean for English adult Goku and Nadolny for kid Goku.

What Sports do you Think the Main Cast Would Like Competing in?

Watching the NFL Pre Season games tonight and just wondered what sports certain characters would like to play/compete in?

Obviously Yamcha for baseball is an obvious one but what about everyone else? What sports do you think Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, etc... would prefer to participate in?

I think guys like Goku and Vegeta would like things like UFC and other martial arts tournaments like the actual Tenkaichi.

Krillin seems like he'd be good at soccer maybe.

Tien would like Volley Ball.

Piccolo would like DODGE ball perhaps... Lol

I dunno, silly, stupid, but interesting to ponder....

Worst Villain? (Franchise Wide - Doesn't Have to be From the Pics)

Which villains were the worst, most boring, least interesting and least entertaining antagonists in the entire franchise?

u/Successful_Bird_7086 — 8 days ago

Goodies or Baddies?

Do you prefer the good guys/gals or do you dig the villainous vibes of the bad guys?

I've always gravitated towards the villains in most fiction. Freeza is my favorite character in DB for example.

I love Goku and co. but I always get far more interested in the villains.

I'm such a villain whore.

What about you?

Theory Analysation: King Cold Had More Forms

The fandom seems to be split between two camps when it comes to this topic.

One side believes King Cold had other forms and only held back because he believed Trunks' sword held most of his attack strength and gravely underestimated his enemy.

The other side believes he had no other forms and that was his true self. Believing that had Cold had other forms, it would be flat out shown/stated or at least vaguely implied and that his gamble about Trunks' sword was just that, a last ditch effort to try and save his skin.

What are your thoughts?

Favorite Freeza Voice Actor?

For me, nothing beats Nakao Sama. His voice is just perfect for Freeza and every other character he voices in and out of DB (Like Mayuri Kurotsuchi in Bleach). He is just a talented VA even though it's always the same voice basically.

  • Ryūsei Nakao - Original Japanese VA

  • Daman Mills - Current English Freeza VA

  • Chris Ayers - English Freeza VA pre Mills (RIP)

  • Linda Young - Original Funimation Dub VA

  • Pauline Newstone - Ocean Dub VA

  • Derek Stephen Prince – Dragon Ball Super (Bang Zoom! dub/Arcade games)

  • Jennifer Bain – Dragon Ball GT (Blue Water Dub)

  • Apollo Abraham – Creative Products Corp. Dub

  • Ed Marcus – AB Groupe dub

Rate the Character: Vegeta

Rate the character overall in terms of how much you like them and their character portrayal.

Vegeta is a great character because of his depth and transition from villain to good guy. Through all of Z he was always teetering on the edge, but as time went on he became a decent person who calls Earth his home. He went from an uncaring, ruthless, murderous villain to a grumpy good guy who retains his trademark attitude and bravado.

Vegeta gets an 8.5/10

Theory Analysation: Goku Gave Senzu Beans to Those he Thought Were Worth Redeeming

Many fans trash on Goku for giving Cell a Senzu bean then again with Moro. However people rarely speak of him giving Piccolo one in early DB or Vegeta on Namek despite them being enemies technically speaking.

A popular theory is that Goku learned not to kill unless necessary during his training with Kami aka God and learning more compassion/morality/insight if you will. After all, he killed a lot as a child (most of the RR Army for example and many past villains) and directly after his training with Kami is when he gave his first Senzu mercy with Piccolo in the 23rd tournament after Piccolo got close to killing him.

Then we have Goku giving Vegeta a Senzu during the Ginyu debacle, because of what he learned about Vegeta's actions after reading Krillin's mind.

Then we have the shit storm that is Goku giving Cell a Senzu. Majorly criticized yet seemingly misunderstood as Goku was again giving Cell mercy. Absolutely thinking Gohan would clear him at full strength but also a likely gesture that he thought maybe once outclassed by Gohan would make him give up and retreat, which did bite him in the ass, but the intentions are clear for a character like Goku.

And lastly his Senzu for Moro, which much like Piccolo I feel he legitimately thought Moro could be reformed. Whether you agree that Goku is dumber in DBS or not, this Senzu pattern isn't something that is new for him or DBS exclusive.

So with those points in mind, the question is, what are your rebuttals, counter arguments or comments on this theory?

Rate Their Attacks: Movie Villains

I used a 1-10 scale and only rated their signature attacks.

#Garlic Jr.

  • Deadzone: 9/10

The ability itself is insanely OP and anyone else with more competence along with immortality to boot would yeet most opponents into that void and that would be that. This attack/ability is so OP they had no choice but to make Garlic Jr. lose and get sucked into the void himself.... By the same person.... Twice.... Lol

#Turles

  • Kill Driver: 7/10

A concentrated explosive blast in the form of an almost fiery ring. Works like most other signature concentrated ki blasts but the shape and way of forming it is pretty cool visually.

#Super Android 13

  • S.S. Deadly Bomber: 5/10

The big red swirling ki ball blast he does. Not much special about this attack other than a concentrated ki ball that does heavy damage. Form/pose and execution of it are pretty standard.

#Broly

  • Omega Blaster: 7/10

The way Broly launches it as a tiny ball of ki that grows massively large and annihilates very quickly is a crazy ass attack in the way that it flows from the moment he creates it, launches it and just massive expansion and power from there taking extreme effort to defeat.

#Bujin

  • Psycho Thread: 8.5/10

The little guy on Bojack's team with the turban that kept trapping Gohan and others in his thread like binding ability that kept them unable to move and sapped their energy. Pretty awesome move that could surely defeat anyone who isn't strong enough to break the binds like SSJ2 Gohan did. It also seems to be combined with others like when the whole group tried holding it against SSJ2 Gohan, but Bujin seems to be the one who needs to initiate it.

#Janemba

  • Warp/Portal Strike: 8/10

Punching/Kicking/Striking where you stand and the fist/feet/weapon emerges in a portal next to the opponent striking them as if you were close to them and attacking normally. Very disorienting and difficult to counter for most I'm sure. It surely made Goku flop around for a minute.

Rate the Characters: The Ginyu Force

Rate the characters overall in terms of how much you like them and their character portrayal.

Guldo: 5/10

He was a weird lil fat frog dude who could stop time but not much else. His bind ability he almost killed Gohan and Krillin with was more useful than his time freeze really.

Recoome: 8/10

He was a sheer tank and a goofy, fruity brute that showcased Toriyama's goofy style perfectly. That fruity pose he did after Vegeta's Final Crash.... Lmao

Burter: 7/10

Despite being contradicted later, his bravado about his speed and his overall arrogance and overconfidence made him a perfect side villain and the resident cocky shit of the team. I liked his personality.

Jheese: 6.5/10

He was a mostly laid back guy with some cool and funny scenes (Goku sucker punching him in the nose) and he had a space Aussie accent in the dub. Lol

Ginyu: 7.5/10

He was a great leader type and his personality, bravado and cunning was excellent. It always struck me as hilarious that he survived all those long years as a frog yet as soon as he steps out from the shadows again and takes over Tagoma's body he is killed by Vegeta of all people making Vegeta the one who killed the entire Ginyu Force.

Team Rating: 9/10

One of the best teams in Dragon Ball period.

Theory Analysation: Tree of Might is Related to Kaio/Glind Tree Fruit (Details in Post)

Preface: This movie was made before the Kaio lore was even remotely established in canon.

However people often theorize that this mortal planet eating tree and it's fruit are akin to the tree's that sprout Kaio's and that's why the fruit grants such a massive power up. An imperfect tree sapping all of the mortal planets resources to create fruit that isn't quite Kaio quality but very close.

What are your thoughts/rebuttles/debunks about this theory surrounding a non canon movie mixed with future author revealed revelations in interviews and later expanded upon in Daima?
