• Dragon Ball - Piccolo Daimao Arc: 8/10

Featured the first serious death of major characters in Krillin and Roshi, Goku's first real growth spurt in both stature and power progression, character development, a great villain and amped up action from previous arcs. This arc was really the start of the fast paced fighting/energy blast stories we associate with DB beyond it's adventurous/comedic roots.

• DBZ - Freeza/Namek Arc: 9.5/10

This arc has everything you could want really. Intergalactic enemies, supportive cast impact, adventure like early DB, SSJ, Tactics, arguably Vegeta's best role, tyrannical end, etc... it was really the pinnacle of DB criteria wise.

• DBGT - Baby Arc: 7/10

An artificial production of the race the Sayains took over centuries ago taking it back in an aggressive assault over their strongest (besides Goku) race and a crazy evolutionary path within Vegeta's body and Golden Oozaru/SSJ4 Intro and a bad ass blasted into the sun villain death? It's by far GTs best arc tied to its worst (Grand Tour) arc.

• DBS - Moro Arc: 8/10

Moro is by far the greatest arc in Super. Moro is a great villain, great struggle and improvement for Goku and Vegeta especially, Dai Buu, Uub, Forced Spirit Fission, Susanoo Goku, Merus' whole deal, etc... It had a bit of everything you'd want in a DB arc.

• DB Daima: 6.5/10

Expanded the lore of Buu arc characters (Buu, Bibidi and Dabura) as well as the demon realm and races (Namekians and all of the multiverse) with a very early DB-esque adventure plot. The plane always needing repairs got old quick and the non use of fusion bugs and treatment of GT concepts like SSJ4 and contradictions to Super make it harder to swallow, but didn't ruin it for me. Gomah was an underwhelming main villain but right up early DBs alley really. Daima to me felt like an early DB/Later DB/Z attempt that felt both better and worse than GT.

Try not to blow off a finger tonight!

Man, I wish I could make dirty fireworks like Vegeta.....

I used a 1-10 scale and only rated their signature attacks mostly.

#Krillin

• Kienzan (All variants): 8/10

I love this attacks because it is so powerful yet takes little ki to make comparative to other signature attacks. While it is implied other races already knew of that type of attack (Vegeta warning Nappa and Freeza having his own homing variant), Krillin is the first earthling to ever think of an attack that is a literal slicing disk that can cut through things/others magnitudes stronger than he is like butter. He can launch bigger and multiple ones as well.

• Scattering Bullet: 7.5/10

The attack he used on the Saibamen then on Vegeta and Nappa. It's a pretty sweet attack and I love the concept of a concentrated beam that splits off and targets multiple opponents. The fact each individual split off beam was strong enough to kill every Saibaman it hit means Krillin was able to concentrate his ki to a pretty crazy degree with that attack yet it didn't drain him very much after using it. I wish he had used it more.

• Solar Flare x100: 6.5/10

Tien created/first used the original Solar Flare but in DBS, Krillin created this variant that is far stronger than the original in it's blinding and even ki sensing effects.

#Tien

• Solar Flare: 6/10

Blinding attack first used by Tien that disorients the opponent. Very useful technique but never used to land a finishing blow and win a fight.

• Dodonpa: 6/10

Originally created by the Crane hermit and first used by Tao, Tien has used it a few times and I always associate it with one of his signature techniques. Pretty much the Earthling version of a death beam. Pierces flesh like a bullet or laser.

• Volleyball Fist: 5/10

Creative physical strike combo like striking a volleyball. Lol

• Four Witches: 6/10

Growing extra arms for more punchy punchy! Tien having an ability like this as well as his third eye always made people question if he was even human or not even before Toriyama ever mentioned his alien ancestry.

• Multi Form: 7/10

Very useful to fight someone near equal to you or weaker but skilled. Considering it also splits up his power among the clones makes it highly inefficient against a superior opponent.

• Kikoho/Shin Kikoho: 8/10

His best attack by far that carries a massive concentration boost because it also uses up life force. The Shin variant he used on Cell even far more so to the point Tien seemed to learn how to maximize said concentration boost whilst not taxing his life force so much, but still heavily dependent on using up life force reserves so that if overused can kill him if he isn't careful.

#Yamcha

• Wolf Fang Fist: 5/10

A physical striking combo that utilizes his ki into those strikes.

• Sokidan/Spirit Ball: 6.5/10

I always liked this attack for its controllability, but it wasn't used much.

I left out Kamehameha for all 3 because while it's a Roshi created attack, I associate it as a Goku signature more than anyone else. These three mainly only used the basic Kamehameha 99% of the time where as Goku created variants and upgraded the technique further.

As you can tell by this list alone, I rate their attacks as signature not necessarily based on who created it, but who used it first and who uses it most and upgrades it. With Solar Flare, Krillin arguably uses it more than Tien has and he upgraded the x100 version which I credited him for, but it would feel weird putting the original under his name rather than Tien, so it's a bit of a mixed bag of logic on why I chose them for who based on this criteria.

It can be a lil difficult assigning signature attacks to only one person considering so many characters use the same attacks in their skill set. For Kamehameha specifically I would credit Roshi for creating it under his name but I would also list it under Goku who has used/upgraded it far more than anyone else.

Anyway, in case people were wondering why I list them the way I do, that's an explanation into the logic I use, agree or disagree, feel free to rate your lists however you wish.

Some fans have trouble getting through early Dragon Ball because Roshi was such a pervert including some Epstein file shit with minors compared to his more adult natured shenanigans in Z and beyond.

I was never personally bothered by it but I also never took it seriously and understood toilet humor of the time and country it was made in and the fact they are animated fictional characters and not representations of real life.

• Vegeta and Goku swapped places

• Raditz defeated Goku and Piccolo and took Gohan with him instead

• Freeza turned into a good guy

Rate the character overall in terms of how much you like them and their character portrayal.

Dabura was a pretty decent side villain with a great demonic design for a literal demon king. His strength and stone spit ability were admirable even if he would have been fodder to SSJ2 Goku or Majin Vegeta. I feel like for a demon king he should have been a bit more prominent and harder for Buu to defeat.

Overall he gets a 7.5/10

Top 3 Fighters who Deserve a Transformation

My tier list of all DB transformations in terms of aesthetics, abilities, and the aura they project.

Tamashii Nations is releasing a series of figures with the first set being this cool little set of capsules containing capsule houses and vehicles inside of them that expand a little bit creating a cool little collection of your own capsules.

This sub doesn't post about merch very often, but when I come across merch/figures that are unique to the usual figure lines, I can't help but share.

I used a 1-10 scale and only rated his signature attacks mostly.

• Galick Gun: 7/10

A big, grandious beam that rivals Goku's Super Kamehameha, the beam struggle with it between him and Goku is legendary and I wish he used this attack more often.

• Final Crash: 6/10

The "Final Flash" like attack he used on Recoome, a precursor to the Final Flash really. I like the pose/build up for the attack and it was also a very grandious beam like most of his attacks but seemed a little less chaotic than Galick Gun.

• Big Bang Attack: 5.5/10

It's a big ass ball of concentrated ki with a massive explosion as shown against Android 19. I agree with Moro that it's such an intimidating name for such a "basic" attack, which some fans think Moro meant it's not a concentrated attack, but clearly is, otherwise it'd just be an unnamed energy ball, Moro was just mocking him.

• Final Flash: 8/10

His best attack imo, a culmination of his most concentrated ki from the precursor Final Crash and scared the shit out of Cell and shook his bravado for a second. The pose/build up for the attack was top notch in a fight where you knew Vegeta would ultimately lose like he did against Recoome with Final Crash, but in such better fashion.

• Final Impact: 7.5/10

This attack was small and quick, but had a cool pose/build up and shot straight through Buu with hardly any effort and would decimate anyone at that time who couldn't regenerate easy peasy like Buu.

• Final Atonement: 7/10

The story build up for it was nice, and it was basically a self destruct on SSJ steroids when comparing it to Chiaoutzu's little self destruct against Nappa. I also liked how he was able to utilize it in the ToP without killing himself in the process however made it less impactful overall because the fact it killed him against Buu made it a last resort type attack.

• Final Shine: 4/10

Very underwhelming for Vegeta and only used in GT. The pose/build up was also very weak compared to his previous attacks.

• Forced Spirit Fission: 8/10

Loved this technique as an attack that would force those absorbed free from the one he attacks and/or the power they gained from it. It's such a cool idea that works as a physical strike the only drawback being he has to be able to hit them of course.

• UE Hakai Ball: 7/10

Him using official Hakais (unlike Goku's mock version) was pretty sweet, and against anyone else weaker than Granolah would have erased them on the spot.

Do you sometimes miss Dragon Ball before the massive power creep and countless transformations and insane universal feats and all that stuff that makes us overthink and analyze and need to do literal DB homework to figure out?

I love DB as a whole, have since the late 90s, but sometimes I do agree with fans that later portions (mid Z to current day) is a bit much. I also love it because all the forms and feats and stuff definitely amp up the excitement and action if you turn your brain off. It seems the longer DB goes on and progresses it just gets more and more convoluted, which says a lot for a shonen franchise that started out so simple.

Dragon Ball has certain charms to it in regards to complexity and simplicity.

In some regards it can be somewhat complex what with established lore facts (Including later retcons), religious/afterlife themes, what inspired Toriyama when he created it and its characters and some fighting/ki/race theory and info. Other times it's completely silly and loose with it's lore and progression, Toriyama making it up as he went along, his forgetfulness in some aspects, etc...

Sometimes fans overthink things and try to make it way more serious than ever intended by Toriyama and Toei. Other fans never take anything seriously and don't retain certain facts or lore established info.

Me personally, I take some things seriously and pay attention to facts and how they have changed over the years through retcons and interviews, but other times I either don't take some things seriously or understand that sometimes an in universe fact/explanation just doesn't exist and the only answer is the writing/author out of universe reasoning.

Some fans enjoy overthinking and attempting to understand and rationalize every little thing while others feel like turning your brain off makes a franchise like this far more enjoyable.

What kind of fan are you?

Whether a full fledged master/sensei who teaches many, or a mentor/teacher who trains a select few, these are the many masters/teachers of Earth.
