Lucky’s cage deep clean and redo is officially done + lucky sleeping in the temp setup while I cleaned!
+ a little GBB enclosure tour lol. So happy with how it came out and I cant wait for more webs!! Cypher has slowly migrated for just under the cork to above as well, which is very exciting! Im always seeing her out now.
My P. irminia Ember doing a happy dance. What a cutie!
Got two beautiful pictures today! My OBT Cypher, and my GBB Kuma were both out. Kuma has been doing some web building after their recent rehouse!
First time owning “roly polies”. I previously only owned P. scaber. These guys are very active and just as cute!
Setup is currently a 14L sterilite bin with cross and top ventilation. Theres about 3in of a topsoil and sand mix, with a light layer of decaying leaf matter. Theres some bark, a peice of cholla wood, and lots of oak and maple leaf litter. Theyve got a few pieces of cuttle bone scattered too and one side was misted.
Im gladly taking any feedback too. This is a similar set up as my P. scaber who are breeding like crazy, but please let me know if I need anything else!
It’s an 8x8x6in Neptonion! My GBBs about 2in in DLS. Hope this gives some ideas for other GBB keepers!
First molt with me (right) and final molt (left). 3 years of growth sitting right next to each other.
Aaravos just molted and I have just found out it was his final molt. He is the T that got me into this hobby just 3 years ago.
I dont have them yet but I plan to add some more cork to climb, and some more leaf litter for the isopods (P. scaber). This is a 10 gallon (20x10x12in). Substrate is a mix of reptisoil, cyphrus mulch, and sphagnum moss. Humidity stays around 60-70% and the temp is around 74-80F.
No, im not actually blind, thankfully. Just near sighted with astigmatism ☹️
u/alexxxia16 wanted to know if 50% of ppl on this sub were heterosexual. Someone suggested making a poll, so I decided to take up the task for them!
Sadly theres no retrieving it without completely destroying his enclosure and stressing him even more. Thought I crushed the head good enough before dropping it, but nope. It scurried off before Aaravos could catch it, and my failed attempt to grab it just stressed him out. Luckily hes not showing signs of premolt, so hopefully it resurfaces and im able to get it, he catches it, or its crushed bodies kills it underground.
Both my T. albo Billy and my M. balfouri (taking name suggestion) got an upgrade!
Unsexed M. balfouri who would also appreciate a name! Name suggestions anyone?
4 out of 7 of my Ts have molted between June and July this year!! My H. ecclesiasticus (last photo) also molted but its a true spider not a tarantula.
Zoro my C. albostraitus had been in premolt since mid November and finally molted in early June. They have FINALLY decided to emerge from their burrow today and took their first meal in around 8 months. Zoro’s only around 1.5in or so, but very resilient. This is once again a reminder that in most cases your T is perfectly ok on their hunger strike!
