did any of you do work experience in a school before deciding whether to do a pgce? (i’m thinking of secondary teaching)

have any of you worked in a school you were a student at, specifically secondary? this would be around 6 years after leaving with many of the same teachers still there, if so how did you find it?

hi all! i’ve signed up for the access to humanities, english studies pathway with east sussex college. i’ve got an onboarding call wednesday and the start is august.
is there anything i should do to prepare, skills to brush on or things to read?
also they said if i have my gcse certificates to send them over, but im pretty sure i dont have them. should i reorder them?
last question, they said if you want to go to uni sept 2027 you would need to start before june because of certificates taking a while to come.
if you don’t take the full year to complete, do you think you could still attend next sept? thanks everyone!

i’m aiming to study a degree in english lit with the aim of doing pgce to teach at secondary school. however all i see is how no one recommends you go into teaching, you will never have any free time etc. did any of you have the same concerns and what do you think once you’ve actually started the course, placements or finished it and started teaching?

what actually happens when a child turns three? do you have to start working 30 hours straight away?
i’m hoping to start attending university sept 2027, my son turns 3 the start of july 2027. i do work 13 hours a week currently but i cant get more hours.
i dont think ill get any uc at university (i do have housing and 1 child element) because of student finance.
i dont really want to have to find a full time job and childcare for the sake of two months, but i dont know if theyre going to be on my case straight away about it

hi everyone, i’m 22 and i want to do an english lit degree with either politics or history. i need to do a degree because i want to teach english at secondary school level. i had bad mental health, traumatic events etc etc in school and didn’t finish my a levels, i hardly wrote on my english exam so i only got a d (i promise i am actually capable, i wasn’t engaging with the course or attending school)
i have a full set of gcse’s with 9 and 8 in english and 8 in history, but im struggling to find an access course that would be accepted on an english lit degree.
i have a child so i was hoping for an online course but the local college offers access to education with optional graded credits in history and english and access to humanities (but its psychology, sociology and criminology) which aren’t super relevant to the degree i want to do
has anyone used an online provider that you could recommend to do an access course? or any other advice? thanks

the huda powder is my holy grail, it is best one i have ever used as a combo girl
but since march it’s making the corners of my eye water everytime and messing up my makeup, ive seen it is highly perfumed and im nearly out of it so i need an alternative!
i’m stressed because it is so good, i need something equally good. i’ve considered laura mercier, one size and the benefit one. does anyone have any experience of these or suggestions? x

i’m on a rewatch and i’m just at the part where arizona is back from africa. i don’t think callie has a reason to be as angry and mean to arizona as she is. she was never happy about her getting the grant or moving to africa, yes she decided to go with her but she moaned the whole time and made it very clear she didn’t want to go. i understand why arizona told her not to come, she knew callie didn’t want to go and would be miserable the whole time while arizona also had to focus on important work out there. it was better for callie and their relationship not to go.
arizona went out there and realised she couldn’t do without callie, so she set it up and found a leading peds surgeon to oversee everything
her camping out on callie’s doorstep and moving into her apartment to try and make callie talk to her again was too much, but callie couldn’t see that it wasn’t a big betrayal, arizona made a hard choice because she knew callie didn’t want to go and wouldn’t be happy. neither of them was 100% right in the whole situation

i have been having mental health support from a women’s support centre in my city who work with a psychologist and i’ve been referred for trauma therapy. i don’t know the specifics until i meet the therapist but has anyone gone through this and could tell me what it’s like? thanks
