UK Beauty Brands?

I’m from Australia and heading to London for 4 days later this year. Aside from the usual tourist stuff, I really want to do some beauty and fashion shopping while I’m there.

What UK makeup, skincare, beauty or clothing brands/stores should I check out that either aren’t available in Australia or are hard to get here? We’re pretty slim pickings sometimes 😭

I already love Lottie London and would love recommendations for similar brands, hidden gems, drugstore finds, cool department stores, boutiques, pharmacies, etc.

Would especially love:
- makeup
- skincare
- haircare
- perfume
- clothing/accessories

Any insider London shopping tips would be so appreciated. Thank you!🙏

How do people afford to keep up with every new collection that drops?

A new palette, a new blush, a new lip liner finish- every single week there's something new from someone. Started writing a list of things I actually want versus things I just want because they're new and it's been a very revealing exercise. The list of actual wants is much shorter.

Budget BB, baby!? For a fair & cool toned elderly lady

I'm a 5 mins max makeup applier and the right BB cream can improve my life, but I've only found 1.5 of them that match my skin tone and blur a bit without seeming to emphasise every hair and wrinkle on my middle aged face (peach fuzz lol, if I found a peach with hairs this long I'd buy it some cat food). I'm fair cool/neutral. Absolutely cannot do foundation, don't have the budget to seek a holy grail by trying 100s/ taking someone's recx for Clinique or something.

The recent BBs that *didn't* work were Nivea light (too brown), and an elf one that even after an extensive online colour matching quiz went on like yellow paint.

What worked was a Lacura thing from Aldi, not orangey at all, nice pore blur, neither too matt or too shiny, and the .5 is for a Rimmel colour corrector which would be fine if it worked on its own, but being green left me looking a bit pale.

Aldi aren't doing theirs any more. I don't mind it not being right if it doesn't cost much to try. Any surprising finds out there?

Is this real or fake Huda Loose Powder?

I bought this Huda loose powder from Vinted, and the buyer said they usually buy their makeup products from either Boots or Amazon, but I’ve seen online that the old packaging is usually with a black lid so I thought it was fake? But I don’t know for sure, can you guys help please?

Is there a tactful way to tell someone their foundation shade is genuinely wrong?

Asking for a friend but also kind of asking for myself about a friend. It's quite far off and the difference at the jawline is noticeable. Do you say something or is that one of those things you just leave alone to protect the friendship?

Can anyone find the new drugstore launches in the UK?

I've been looking for particularly the new essence concealer everywhere, I found one in primark but it was used and most of the shades are out, i just got a swatch before having to chuck it out. I check online boots, lookfantastic, justmylook, etc. All the time because they have the rest of the range so surely the concealer should be there. I was looking at trying their foundation as well, so maybe just the website is just the best place to get it and get a few bits?

I'm surprised because essence, catrice, kiko, etc. They're all european brands I'm pretty sure, so I feel like the new launches should be way easier to get than they are but I tried my area and when I visited family and nothing but that used one. I find that the new stuff I see everywhere on reviews I cant find in any store or website other than the company itself.

I know people in different areas so if its something i desperately wanted, I'd paypal them some money to find it but that's last case scenario if it was really worth it and I'm not sure if it really is for just a 2 pound concealer unless it was a list if a few bits

Can anyone vouch for which new launches are genuinely worth me going on a search for and where I might be able to find them?

Powdered foundation for oily skin

For 10 years I have worn Mac studio fix powdered foundation.

I went to Mac today to repurchase but they've changed the formula and the shade ranges so NC15 no longer suits me and neither do their alternatives :(

I also have very oily skin so need a recommendation for a powdered foundation that will suit this skin type.

I'm so gutted. I've almost used all of the last of the old formula. Please help!

Found this old lip crayon in my makeup stash and now I’m emotionally attached again..

I’m obsessed with this MUA Satin Sheen Lip Stylo shade but I can never seem to find this line in stores anymore. Does anyone know a similar creamy nude-brown lip product that’s easy to find in the UK? Maybe from NYX, ELF, Maybelline etc.

Can anyone please help with my undertones?

I always feel like I'm cool toned, but my rosacea throws me off and has me doubting myself. It's very mild at the moment so hopefully this picture shows my 'real' skin off better.

I'm trying to perfect my base layer and don't really know where to start.

What would you say?

(No products on my face here to give a more true picture)

Fav long wearing neutral pink blushes

I’m doing my own bridal makeup and I’ve been using the same blush for years - tarte Amazonian clay blush in blissful. But when I say years, I mean roughly 15 years, and I still have the same one (I know it’s time to retire it). So I need to expand my horizons a little. I’m looking for a cream and powder combo I think, something soft and natural.

Makeup needing new homes - UK

I am an ex makeup artist and I have a massive amount of makeup I need to part with. Lots completely brand new, or just swatched. Would anyone be interested if I listed everything on here with pictures or is that not allowed?

If not allowed….What’s the best place to list it all?

Thank you

UKLash Serum - is it worth it?

Recently my eyelashes have become brittle. When I take my mascara off, a good 3 or 4 lashes fall out from both eyes. Wondering what I can do to make them a bit stronger. I've read about UKLash serum but can't make up my mind about whether it's good for your eyes not. Is there any alternative to help brittle lashes?

Tubing mascara recommendations please 🙏🏼

I have recently bought the Maybelline sky tubes tubing mascara. I love the way it makes m lashes look, but it just doesn’t hold the curl in my lashes quite like a waterproof mascara does. Can anyone recommend a tubing mascara that holds a curl?

Many thanks in advance!

Help me spend £250 on my wife for our anniversary

LHi everyone,

My anniversary is coming up and I’m planning on getting my wife a big Huda Beauty gift set since it's her favourite. I've got about £250 to spend, but if I'm honest, I have no idea what I’m actually looking for when I see all the different boxes and bottles.

I want to get her a proper collection of the best bits so she can do a full face. If you had 250 quid to spend just on Huda stuff, what would you actually put in the basket?

I keep seeing that Easy Bake powder mentioned online, so I'm guessing that’s a safe bet? Also, which of the big eyeshadow palettes is the one to get right now?

I'll probably just head into Boots or Sephora to grab it all. Any advice on what to pick so I don't look completely lost would be a massive help.

A list of products would be great as I'm completely clueless!

Cheers!

Compact case for Sculpted by Aimee Cushion Foundation

I bought a foundation from Sculpted by Aimee this week. But when it arrived I realised it was a refill and as it is my first purchase from them I don't have the compact case for it to go in. I reached out to the company but they said they don't have spare cases. I was wondering if anyone had a spare case or knew of a generic compact foundation case that I could buy from Amazon or somewhere to keep it clean and tidy.

Any advice appreciated
