Eyeliner

Is it actually impossible to sharpen an eyeliner pencil. I've tried everything and just end up buying a new one.

Is there a trick to it. I've tried a knife lead falls off, I've tried a pencil sharpener which just rips chunks out of wood. Help!

Just got these at home bargains

Have dry lips so decided to get a lip balm . Wanted something mild. I've never bought any lip balm before so just wanted to know if its good for keeping the dryness away and prevent chapping

super strong eyebrow glue recs

hi all, looking for a strong eyebrow glue. my eyebrow hairs go down the way, so i need something strong to make em stick.

i've tried nyx's the brow glue and the brow grip by w7. nyx doesn't stick at all, and the glue sort of... congeals into glue balls whenever i brush through it or whenever i fill in my brows. the w7 works a bit better but same issue. i'm looking for something affordable.

was thinking of the got2be eyebrow glue? has anyone tried it? was also wondering if those glues you put on the loose hair strands on the top of your head would be stronger than regular lash glue

Reccs for black liquid liner that stays?

Hello!

I've recently been doing winged liner again and I'm noticing that my Stila liquid liner is just like **disappearing** it's not migrating or smudging or anything. I'll just do the wings and an hour later, I won't have wings anymore.

What are some liquid liners I can purchase that will stay?

Many thanks!

Wedding trial makeup (in France)

Hello! I’m getting married in France in 2 weeks time ahhh (I’m from London) and I had my trial with a local french MUA who is lovely and very open to feedback and guidance from me, except I am fairly inexperienced with explaining how I like my makeup (and how I ended up asking for something I don’t like in the first place!)

Perhaps the language barrier made me less confident in explaining how I wanted it done. Her English is very good, but I am such a pleaser and left it up to her to just do what she thought was best. I wonder if there’s some specific French MUA terms which might help me on the day?

I’ve posted a few pictures of my face, 1 + 2 are of me and how I usually do my makeup, very hydrated and natural. I wear serums, very light cream foundation, lots of moisturiser, bronzer and blush, and usually brown eyeliner and mascara.

I do like a bold lip and individual lashes (not too long) and would consider a small black wing to make my eyes stand out.

Makeup tends to stay well on my face, even in the heat.

I didn’t love my trial, it felt very heavy and matte and didn’t let my skin glow through. You can see my trial photos in various lights and times of the day in 3, 4, 5 and 6! I really dislike contour and lots of layers of powder on my face, and I really don’t like lots of highlighter either.

I understand an element of powder/concealer is necessary for photos but for me, the most important thing is feeling my best so then I am actually happy and present on the day!

What I really want is me, but elevated. Hydrated sun kissed, warm and blushy. With my eyes accentuated but not with lots of eyeshadow or concealer.

Can you please recommend some phrases that I need to use to explain what I want? I’m very open to suggestions on what you think would work for my face too!

Thank you ever so much, I just want to go in feeling confident and to look and feel my best! 💖

EDIT: I have booked to go to a MAC counter for a 60 min session next week to ask them to do my full face, and if I love that I’ll take pictures to bring for my wedding day the following week!

Has the Mac foundation changed?

My birthday is coming up and I want to treat myself to a new, full coverage foundation. In the past, I have used the Mac Studio fix (I think??) foundation and I absolutely loved how thick and full coverage it was. People would compliment my skin all the time when I wore it. However, I have read online that they have reformulated it and it now has more of a lightweight finish, is less mattifying and has more skincare ingredients.
To be honest, I love the thickness of the previous formula and how matte it was for when I want those really full coverage days.
People who have used the new formula - how does it compare? Is it less coverage? If so, any recommendations for something similar to the old formula?

does prep make the biggest difference with Wonderskin lip stain?

hii lol, finally had a full workday where the color still looked even after coffee and a sandwich and it was only because i prepped the night before

been using wonderskin for a couple weeks after seeing it all over my feed. when i lightly exfoliate, wipe my lips clean, and wait before the top layer, the stain sits smooth and i basically forget about it until evening. skip those steps and it grabs on dry patches by lunch. thats on my rushed mornings i think not the formula randomly failing

the peel step still slows me down when im already late, which is annoying. worth dealing with on days i do the prep right though

is the night-before exfoliate plus blot routine the whole game for even wear, or do certain shades just need less fuss on you

Westfield White City makeup services

Hello beauties,

I'll be in London (from Australia) in November for an event. I'll be staying with my in-laws most of the time but for the night of the event I'll be in a hotel, and near to that hotel is the Westfield at White City. I know there are a few makeup shops and services there and I'd like to get my makeup done for this event.

I'd be wanting a light, soft glam look, am mid-50s so needs to be somewhere where the MUAs are versatile and knowledgeable (ie. not just for beautiful wrinkle-free young skin!).

I would love your recommendations please 😘

NB. I don't want to travel far from the hotel as I won't have time, so although I realise the choice at Westfield will be limited, I really hope there's somewhere good.

Blush dupe request

Hi all, there was this blush that I used to absolutely love and wear everyday but has sadly been discontinued years ago (Makeup Revolution "Treat"). I want to make a new attempt at finding another blush with the same shade (pictured). I think it's rosy but with a hint of warmth, not super pigmented. When I look at other blushes I usually see no in-between, either pink or super bright peach. I don't mind spending a bit for a close match. Any tips welcome!

Dior Backstage Glow Maximizer – Is this normal or could it be fake?

I bought a Dior Backstage Glow Maximizer Palette in 004 Rose Gold Glow on Whatnot. Dior Backstage Glow Maximizer 004 Rose Gold Glow at Douglas
After opening it, I was honestly pretty shocked. The palette smells strongly like children’s makeup — definitely not what I would expect from a Dior product.
On top of that, the shades have almost no color payoff whatsoever. Even when applying them with my finger, barely any product shows up on the skin.
I also noticed that the packaging and overall quality/finish feel a bit strange to me. It just doesn’t seem as high-quality as I would expect from Dior.
Now I’m wondering: Is this actually normal for this palette, or could I have received a fake/counterfeit product through Whatnot?
Has anyone here bought the 004 Rose Gold Glowand can tell me what yours is like? Especially regarding the smell, pigmentation, and packaging quality.
I’d really appreciate any experiences or comparisons with a palette bought directly from Dior or an authorized retailer!

Wedding Trial feedback

This was my first full make up trial for my wedding next April. I feel like this combo works for my very oily skin but isn't very high coverage.

My biggest issue is that my acne marks show through and the foundation splits if I apply it any thicker. The last picture is the make up after a days wear and a gym session, I think I added to my eyes at some point during the day too, not sure I like them that dark.

I like it but I'm thinking I can probably do a bit more bronze. I'm also really stuck on my lip colour, should it be more corally or should my blush be more pink?

I'm also trialling my hair, I much prefer it down but that explains the difference in pictures. I'll also cut my fringe shorter for the wedding.

Products/looks for deepset eyes

I’m 35 and I’ve never really worked out how to do good makeup on my deepset and non-symmetrical eyes - can anyone help?

I find:

- winged eyeliner suits me but smudges in the crease at the corner of my eye
- I have big eyelids but colour is hidden by my browbone
- I wear concealer to cover my natural dark circles, but it cracks and creases when I smile and never fully covers them
-one eyelid is much more “tall”/puffy than the other which makes makeup tricky to get right on both

(Excuse the messy brows! I’ve been working too much and they’ve escaped attention!)

Recommendations for bridesmaid boxes

I get married in October and am looking to make some bridesmaid boxes with some key staple skin care/make up for my bridesmaids. I hate the personalised or poor quality shein/temu stuff that will just get thrown away but always gets recommended so I wanted to give them some useful items. I was thinking moisturiser, primer, some sort of skin prep, cleanser and maybe mascara or lip products. Does anyone have any recommendations?

32year old woman seeking help for my 10 year Wedding Anniversary!!!

32year old woman seeking HELP for Wedding Anniversary Trip Abroad.

I am a 32 year old woman & have been wearing make-up since I was a 15 year old girl.

I have recently been struggling with my make-up in a way I haven't before

For context - I take medications for health issues & as of late, my make up won't stay in place & just slides of my face due to to the side effects of my medications due to heavy sweating.

I do skincare, I use a mix of hydrating & grip primers, but nothing is working. it gets to the point where even my grip primer starts to separate under my liquid foundation.. i use powders, i use setting sprays.. i end up looking like a patchy yucky mess (Seriously, my make up looks like its cracking)

its my 10 year wedding anniversary in 7 weeks & over the last 6 months, I've bought brand new expensive makeup to take away with me for our holiday abroad (Going to a hot country)

i want to feel pretty.. not a cakey, sloppy mess!

Please help me!

Mascara recommended pls

I need a new mascara. With so many good ones I have seen online I don't know which to buy? I'd like an affordable and high end recommendation. My lashes are just normal. Need length and volume. Nothing that clumps. Like my lashes fanned out, not stuck together. One that isn't going to flake or smudge or run, especially as I can sweat alot and wear sunscreen. Thanks in advance. Also black, brown and any purple ones. Used the skyhigh in burgundy, wasn't overly impressed and the wand was too flexible for me personally. Anyone with insights on the Lancome Hypnose drama extreme??

I’m travelling to London soon! What should I get? I’m from Spain

What brands are there and not in Spain?

The ones I’m excited to look at are half magic beauty, glossier and tower 28. But what products do you recommend?

Also, is there places where for example glossier is cheaper? In Spain there’s beauty shops that have the pricey products less pricey than in Sephora.
