Oc drop, say hello to Serenity!

Short desc: Although she wears an uncanny smile, she acts more human than actual humans; Immortal blessed her infinite knowledge, which backfires and bestows her with debilitating sickness. Despite her illness and her environment being not so great, she uses her blessing to guide her to survival.

Fun facts about the design: I wanted her to resemble a queen just before her execution, as her blessing is her death sentence. I was heavily inspired by Anne Boleyn, as aside from her execution, she’s also known for her sharp wit and strategic mind. More importantly, her attire for her execution was riddled with symbolism that matched Serenity as a character, especially the crimson kirtle and white veil which both symbolize martyrdom. However, with there being mold on the veil, I wanted to capture how her idea of leaving an impact would be tainted. She also has a lot of science motifs, as her blessing is often used for creating medications before her illness became too severe.

Fun facts about her: She’s intelligent, cunning, witty, yet short-tempered and impulsive and protective of her brother. Due to her circumstances and her physical state, she’s quite cowardly, and would just run from any battle. She can handle herself in times of duress, yet is often taken care of by her brother most of the time, as exerting too much energy would take a toll on her body. Her blessing of knowledge is more or less limited, as she more or less uses her gift for more practical means rather than emotional ones. Additionally, she never stops smiling, so her other emotions are shown through other means like body language or exaggerated facial expressions.

For your villain ocs, what is their main motivation for their wickedness?

I love reading y’alls comments about your characters, especially their depth so I may pop in and ask these quite often, might even make it a habit lol

Adagio: His motivation is a mix of his ambition to keep his casino alive, his desire to seek disaster that contradict his blessing, and his drive to keep Kenshin alive. Elaborating on each, he’s worked his life to create financial security for him and Kenshin, with his efforts resulting him owning a casino which he’d want to keep. His recklessness comes from his blessing of luck, making him unable to die thus fully taking advantage of that. Lastly, he’s very dependent on Kenshin to stay alive in order to keep himself sane and grounded. Losing him would be worst case scenario, so he always puts himself in front of any horrifying situation that befalls him, even if he causes those scenarios himself.

I like asking these questions as it helps me flesh out my characters, gain inspiration, and most importantly, it tells me a bit about you! So please be as wordy as you like, I’ll read and respond!

(Also enjoy this sketch page of my silly guy, I was practicing lol)

Ok curious, do you believe your villain ocs deserve redemption?

Character creation says a lot about their creators, so I'm honestly wondering what YOU think!

Honestly, take this opportunity to explore your OCs a little more!

Kenshin: I believe so, but it'll take work. He believes he can't yet, but hasn't done as many misdeeds as Adagio. He's usually acting as an accomplice or guilty by association, but chooses not to leave (which makes him equally as damning). He has (a little bit of) integrity to his morals, but cannot cut ties with the person who constantly calls them into question.

Adagio: Not really, at least it's complicated. He provokes specifically to gain something or for the fun of it, so he rarely feels bad for what he does. However, he's capable of atoning for his sins if he ever crosses the line (ie. places Kenshin's well-being in jeopardy). Additionally, he has been actively working to find a way to relieve himself of his immortality, as he believes his death would provide closure for those he's wronged, but that is a paradoxical definition of atonement. Ultimately, the question isn't if he can; it's more or less about the extent of his redemption.

(If the flair is wrong I'm sorry)

Your Oc is tasked with entertaining him, what will they do?

I plan on drawing these so PLEASEEEE GET CREATIVE! Fight him, gamble with him, etc etc!

Ok I’m curious, for all your immortal characters, how do they feel about their immortality?

So Kenshin HATES his immortality, but still manages to live life with care and consideration in spite of the chaos surrounding him. He hates so much time he has and how people will inevitably leave him, he hates that life is boring with limitless possibilities, he hates that he’ll no longer have a legacy or that his legacy will never reach out being tarnished.

But I understand that people have different takes on that concept and often put those ideas into their characters, so I’m curious!

PLEASEEE HEAR ME OUT ON HIM

Short desc: Additive gambler that plays incredibly risky games in hopes of reaching the afterlife (which is not possible but he doesn’t really know that)

Fun facts about the design: pachinko and Japanese culture were essential to his design. I wanted to capture the chaotic of the designs in pachinko machines to emphasize the chaotic methods used to reach his goals. Wanted him to look casual and sluggish with a simpler form.

Fun facts about him: He’s rational yet lives off of crazy. He’s rarely relaxed, and relies on his friends heavily to keep him sane. He uses a pair of sickles, designed to look like sake bottles. He believes that he’s unable to bring honor given his upbringing and in spite of his successes thus seeking death as his atonement, but strangely, he cannot die.
