Testing the Sirui 35mm f/1.4 on my Lumix S9 around Sun Yat-sen University

Finally got the Sirui 35mm f/1.4 for my S9 and decided to walk around Sun Yat-sen University to test it. The campus is super green and has lots of nice details to shoot. I grabbed some close-ups and some wider scenic shots.

Honestly, the sharpness surprised me, it’s a really solid little lens. The f/1.4 is fun for isolating subjects, and it’s still sharp enough for landscapes when you stop down. Overall a great match for the S9.

I scanned my scanner… and made a case for it

I wanted something a little more convenient for carrying my Creality Pika around, so I scanned it with P1 and used the scan data as a reference to design a protective case in Fusion.

I printed it in gradient PLA and made it as a two-piece design: one shell for the Pika itself, plus a separate lens cover to protect the cameras when I’m not using it.

I also added a small loop for attaching a strap, so I can just carry it with me instead of putting it back into a bag every time. Feels especially useful for travel or outdoor scanning.

Really happy with how this turned out. The strap loop is probably my favorite part — makes it way easier to just grab Pika and go.

Model here in case anyone wants to print one:

I made a custom case for my friend’s headphones using 3D scan.....

I scanned my friend’s bose headphones and turned the shape into a custom 3D printed case as a small gift.

The idea was pretty simple: one slot for the over-ear headphones, and another little slot for their wireless earbuds. I wanted the case to follow the actual shape of the headphones as much as possible, instead of just making a generic box with foam inside.

My original plan was to make a soft TPU insert, but of course I ran out of TPU right when I needed it. So I printed the whole thing in PLA instead.

Honestly, I’m not mad about it. The fit is still really nice, and at least there’s no separate insert that can fall out or get loose over time. Not the fanciest build, but I like scan the real object, design around it, print something that actually fits.

Pika IR scan + AI re-texture test on a parrot sculpture

I tried Pika’s IR mode by scanning this parrot sculpture, and the scan result was honestly pretty good.

But what surprised me more was the AI Re-Texture feature in CrealityScan.

I took photos from different angles with a camera (of course captures color more accurately than the scanner camera) , and uploaded them into CrealityScan, just clicked the AI re-texture option, and it generated a much more accurate textured model.

The color result looks way closer to the real object, and I really like this workflow.

I’ll put the before/after comparison images in the comments.

Scanned my headphones with the Pika

Wanted to make a perfectly fitted case for my over-ear headphones, so I started with a scan using the Creality Pika at 0.3mm resolution.

Honestly, I went with 0.3mm because it felt like a good balance for this kind of object – fine enough to capture the overall shape and the little details like hinge areas and ear cushion contours, but without creating an unnecessarily heavy file. The built-in screen made the setup pretty quick, which is handy when you’re just doing a quick test.

The scan itself turned out decent. It's not flawless, the seams didn't come through great and cleanly. Had to fill a couple of small holes, but it's absolutely usable for designing a case around the headphones. I'll share the printed case once it's done.

Tried Pika’s Blue Line Laser scanning WITHOUT MARKERS

No markers placed , just a quick scan test on this small toy.
Real-time point distance and fusion point distance were both set to 0.2 mm.
I love this mode so much!

Unboxing the Creality Pika 3D Scanner

Just got some hands-on time with the Creality Pika, so I filmed a quick unboxing video.

The package is pretty compact, and the overall setup feels beginner-friendly. I’ll be testing it with a few real objects soon and sharing more about the scanning experience.

Early test scan with Creality Pika

Got a chance to try the upcoming Pika 3D scanner a little early, so I tested it on one of my favorite Iron Man figures.
The result honestly surprised me. The armor details came out better than I expected, especially for a scanner expected to launch at around $699.
Still need to test more objects, but for collectibles and small figures, this first scan looks really promising.
