Scanned my headphones with the Pika

Wanted to make a perfectly fitted case for my over-ear headphones, so I started with a scan using the Creality Pika at 0.3mm resolution.

Honestly, I went with 0.3mm because it felt like a good balance for this kind of object – fine enough to capture the overall shape and the little details like hinge areas and ear cushion contours, but without creating an unnecessarily heavy file. The built-in screen made the setup pretty quick, which is handy when you’re just doing a quick test.

The scan itself turned out decent. It's not flawless, the seams didn't come through great and cleanly. Had to fill a couple of small holes, but it's absolutely usable for designing a case around the headphones. I'll share the printed case once it's done.

Beer Cellar Statue - Creality Sermoon P1 IR mode

This statue is part of a beer cellar entry. Only noticed it by chance when going for a walk.

Scanning

Scanning was done with the Sermoon P1 in large IR mode with geometry tracking. I moved around the statue in circles and in a second pass after checking for coverage I filled in gaps for the overhangs. With initial firmware versions the P1 only could do 5-7fps in IR mode standalone, with the latest version it reaches a stable 19-20FPS. With the increased speed the scan only took roughly 5min without any tracking problems.

Post-Processing

For post processing I first transferred the scan data from the P1 to my workstation. You can either do it by cable where a nice import menu opens or over WiFi where you select the project on the scanner, join the hotspot of the scanner with your PC and send it to the PC (option I chose, simply less cables and quite fast with up to 120MB/s from testing). I then fused the scan at 1mm with 25% noise removal to retain detail (default noise removal tends to be a bit high) and meshed it with default settings. Quicksurface was used to align the scan and reduce triangle count.

Result

Best have a look at Sketchfab, quite content with the result. Finally IR mode is a joy to use standalone, hope they will bring hybrid geometry and texture tracking at some point.

Sketchfab

Sketchfab is like printables for 3d scans with a nice integrated viewer in browser and you can also download the scan, just look at the scan yourself.
Reddit sadly blocks the short links to Sketchfab, you have to search for the title instead: "Beer Cellar Statue - Creality Sermoon P1"

PC Specs

Since a lot of people ask for it:

  • AMD Ryzen 7950X
  • 128GBGB DDR5 RAM
  • RTX 5070Ti Desktop
  • A few TB of NVME storage with PCIe Gen4 interface

Is there any way to get the raptor to work on Windows 11?

Just got the raptor about 2 weeks ago. From Grainger and have tried all of the options available on the creality wiki. Nothing is working. It will not sink. It will not be detected by Windows or by creality scan. Reality scan is running at version 4.22 and the scanner was just updated.

No laptop today… so I improvised and used my phone as the display for scanning.

Setup used: Creality Raptor Pro + Scan Bridge.
For this project, I performed a 3D scan of the hydraulic pump housing from a single-engine aircraft. Even without a laptop, I was able to monitor the entire scanning process in real time directly from my phone.
This is one of the biggest advantages of having a Creality scanner: mobility and flexibility to work in different situations without depending on a complete setup. I completed the entire capture process in the field using only my phone as the display, and later, when I got back to the office, I transferred the scanned data to the computer to continue the reverse engineering process for manufacturing the gaskets. 🔥
A simple, portable, and highly efficient workflow for engineering and manufacturing applications.
Has anyone else tried using the Scan Bridge this way?

Tried Pika’s Blue Line Laser scanning WITHOUT MARKERS

No markers placed , just a quick scan test on this small toy.
Real-time point distance and fusion point distance were both set to 0.2 mm.
I love this mode so much!

New scan with the Pika!

Hi!

This time I used the blue‑light mode.

The Pika was connected to the PC via USB.

I took three or four different scans of the remote control, then used auto‑alignment before generating the mesh.

I did the same for the battery cover.

Once the models were computed, I switched to Blender to smooth the plastic surfaces with a basic tool. That last step took me less than five minutes.

You can find my other test scans and more on the dedicated Facebook group :

Markerless blue laser scanning on Raptor

Before I bought the raptor after tried to scan stuff with ferret pro, I thought since raptor also has NIR, it could know where it is by using it's cameras and scan without markers. Turns out, it needs markers like everywhere.

So sermoon also has markerless blue laser scanning. Turns out it wasn't always like this. They got this with an update. Do you guys think it'll come to raptor with an update? Hardware is enough I suppose.

Engine Scan

Engine Scan

I scanned this engine in cross line and Infrared scan mode without marking or spraying with scan spray to compare the results. The details are clearly better along the cross lines.

Scanner : Sermoon S1

Unboxing the Creality Pika 3D Scanner

Just got some hands-on time with the Creality Pika, so I filmed a quick unboxing video.

The package is pretty compact, and the overall setup feels beginner-friendly. I’ll be testing it with a few real objects soon and sharing more about the scanning experience.

News about the Pika !

Hi everyone! I’ve had the chance to try out the new Pika, and I think it’s incredible!

Compared to my Ferret Pro, the smoothness, the tracking, and the overall result quality are all a step above.

The setup is great too! You insert the rechargeable battery (I have two of them, super handy for swapping even in the middle of a scan). There are removable lenses for infrared scanning, which makes it possible to scan even when backlit. You mount it on the mini tripod or a selfie stick, connect it to your phone via the Pika’s built‑in Wi‑Fi, and you’re ready to start scanning!

The processing on the mobile app is already great, but you can transfer your projects to the PC app just by scanning a QR code, which opens up even more possibilities, like aligning multiple scans and accessing more fine tuning settings. There’s also an AI‑assisted texture recalculation option, even though the texture application is already excellent.

I made a video on the Pika Facebook group :

And there is blue light mode too!

Creality Pika and propeller

Another example how Pika can be accurate.

Some imperfection are my fault so please don't take this as some issues of scanner itself.

Technical data:
Scanner: Creality Pika

Tablet: iPad Pro M4

Resolution: 0.1mm
Average fps: 60
Mesh: 10M
Few minutes of scan

To be honest i wasn't ready for such good scan.
Of course this propeller can be better scanned but we are focusing on the Pika only.

I have a small turntable with small markers and 250mm of diameter, i think on bigger table with more markers can be even better.

60 fps in laser mode is really good. Capturing data are really good.
Sometimes because of setup some tracking issues but this is all related to count of markers in field of view.

I think that every scan makes this tiny pocket size box really GOOD scanner.

Wish o have tablet with more ram to process all on tablet not on desktop, but this is just a wish

Pika with every scan makes it more handy.
All 3D scanners have their limitations, the key is to know them and creatively overcome them

Early test scan with Creality Pika

Got a chance to try the upcoming Pika 3D scanner a little early, so I tested it on one of my favorite Iron Man figures.
The result honestly surprised me. The armor details came out better than I expected, especially for a scanner expected to launch at around $699.
Still need to test more objects, but for collectibles and small figures, this first scan looks really promising.

35 feet long and 11 feet high 3d Scan

An absolutely massive Monument 35 feet long and 11 feet high scanned in one go in under 10 Minutes,

scanned withe the Creality Otter Lite in texture mode

History of the Monument

Standing proudly on St George's Plateau, the Liverpool Cenotaph is one of the most moving and architecturally powerful war memorials in the country. While thousands of people pass it daily, the incredible detail cast into its massive bronze relief panels tells a profound story of collective grief, community, and honor.

The monument was designed by the celebrated local Liverpool sculptor Herbert Tyson Smith and was officially unveiled on November 11 in the year 1930.

Unlike many traditional war memorials of the era that glorified battle or focused solely on high ranking military leaders, Tyson Smith chose to focus on the civilian and human cost of the First World War. The two massive bronze relief panels, each measuring an astonishing 31 feet in length, are now celebrated as masterpieces of British relief sculpture.

The panels depict two distinct, powerful narratives that capture the reality of the wartime generation:

  • The Mourners: One side depicts a deeply moving scene of ordinary citizens, including widows, working men, and children, standing alongside soldiers. They are all bowing their heads or laying wreaths at a simple tomb, capturing the raw emotional toll the war took on the families left behind in Liverpool.
  • The March Past: The opposite panel depicts uniform columns of servicemen marching, capturing the scale of dedication, brotherhood, and mobilization from the local community.

Monumental Scale

The architectural design of the cenotaph is deliberately low and horizontal, ensuring it balances beautifully with the grand classical architecture of St George's Hall directly behind it.

  • The individual bronze panels are 31 feet long.
  • They are set into a central block of Stancliffe stone that measures 35 feet long and 11 feet high.
  • The entire monument rests on a vast Yorkshire Silex stone platform stretching 61 feet across.

Today, the Liverpool Cenotaph is recognized as a Grade I listed structure, which is the highest level of heritage protection available in the UK. This ensures that Tyson Smith's stunning tribute and the memory of those it honors remain preserved for generations to come.

New Creality Pika and small comparison between other laser scanners from Creality

I have an opportunity to play with newest scanner from u/Creality.
I will not show unboxing or review every detail of this scanner but i will show you all how good it is in compare to Raptor Pro and Sermoon S1 in standard mode (standard means 60fps, Pika can scan in 120fps wired to desktop)

Here is video from my test.

I wasn't focused on making whole perfect scan, but on this comparison you can see how Pika can scan.

3D scanning?

Does anyone else have a 3D scanner they just got and they have no idea how to use it like me? I 3D scanned a project, but I don’t know how to use the software once I have scanned it, to make a STL file. I tried watching some videos that creality has offered, but I still feel lost. Any tips or videos sent, I would appreciate it. Also, I have the Creality ferret Pro.
