August 17: Four young Dakota men murder five white settlers near Acton Township, Meeker County. Fleeing to their village, they beg for protection. Leaders of the soldiers’ lodge appeal to Taoyateduta (Little Crow) to lead them in war on the whites. Reluctantly, he agrees.

August 18: Mdewakanton warriors open fire on white traders and government employees at the Lower Agency and defeat a relief force sent from Fort Ridgely. Dakota warriors attack isolated farms and settlements in Renville and Brown counties. More than 200 settlers are killed in these raids, and more than 200 women, children, and mixed-race civilians are taken hostage.

Aftermath: Of the more than 600 white people killed during the war, just over 70 were soldiers, and about 50 more were armed civilians. The others were unarmed civilians--mostly young men, women, and children who were recent immigrants to Minnesota. Historian Curtis Dahlin, who has extracted figures from public and cemetery records as well as from media reports, estimates that 30 per cent of the civilians killed were children aged ten and under. Another 40 per cent were adults between the ages of 20 and 40.

Are there any courses for refreshers in long gun safety for adults available anywhere Northern Washington County/Chisago County/Southern Pine County/Eastern Isanti County? Lots of handgun training courses to be found, but looking for rifle/shotgun in particular.

So, an update to my recent post regarding resetting the FC5000 Topcon Data collector (https://www.reddit.com/r/Surveying/comments/1v3x9je/zero\_out\_topcon\_fc\_5000\_on\_a\_unit\_to\_be\_sold/).

It sold. I did not do a factory reset as suggested here, but rather I called the rep we bought it from and asked his opinion (which thankfully was ALSO suggested here, and I am so glad I did). He said to simply go to the jobs and delete any identifying information, rather than a factory reset which would then necessitate a re-install of the topcon products.

The buyer has had it several days. Although it has Magnet Field on it, he uses Pocket 3D and wants to install that. He says he cannot upload Pocket 3D on it as he needs my Password. I have no clue what it may be, as mentioned earlier the fellow we bought to use the unit left in a bad manner. I said that he could always do a factory reset, as he needs to upload the pocket 3D anyways. Well, he called this morning after talking to HIS Topcon rep, His rep out of a town nearby him in WI apparently told him that that reset will "fry the board" what ever that means, and so he is reluctant to do so.

Buyer is now unhappy with product. Am I totally missing something? It is just a Windows reset issue to get it to a position to be able to upload his Pocket 3D, isn't it? Sorry to try and figure this out here, but without the password I don't know how else to help this guy out. I do have a call in to the rep we bought it from in Alabama, but have not heard back - I think he is out this week.

Our (small-ish) excavating company is going to be selling a Topcon Base/Rover with an FC 5000 Data Collector. I do not run the equipment, but need to "blank" it so that there is no info on the unit when sold. How do I go about this? Also, it has Magnet Field, and I have been told it has Pocket 3d. How to verify? Sorry, I know these are likely basic, but I would rather look dumb by asking than send it out as "clean" and have made a mistake. It has been sitting for several years (Please do not ask it was a really, really bad snafu) and so I am charging batteries to see what is what. I am likely going to need to update all the Windows stuff, but I am not even sure of the passwords; previous user is long long gone and left on very bad terms.

Looking for advice on post placement of the band care of the animal. Obviously watching for infection, but how about right at time of them dropping? Is there a wound that needs iodine or is the scrotum fused together at the point of constriction? Just looking ahead as I just yesterday banded my first bull (ahem, steer).

Wondering if Reddit has a heretofore unknown to me community where buying/selling of cattle takes place. Specifically show cattle, but I suppose anything would go. I've never seen anything to suggest that there is one before, but I know there are gold and silver buying subs here and I started wondering about the live animal arena.

It is NOT 5 gallons. FYI. It is now 4.5 gallons. One gallon is less than one gallon as well. Not a single notice to tell you, but preying on a customer's lifelong knowledge that paint comes in a five gallon pail or a one gallon bucket. Very, very deceptive, IMO. Cheap bastards.

I have a 100 foot or so 2 rail fence. 4 years ago I planted a ton of purple leaf sand cherry along it at a considerable cost. But sadly, the bunnies were hungry. With the bunny issue resolved, I wish to replant but cannot justify the cost to myself. Several plants remain and are vigorous. Am I able to take cuttings and dip into root powder to start them? With some plants this works well, but I am not sure about purple leaf sand cherry. Any help?
