What are the signs that she’s ready to be watered?

I got this super cool euphorbia mammillaris variegata a few weeks ago. Today I repotted her in a really nice gritty cactus mix (sol soils). Hopefully she’s cool with that. 🤞

She’s my first mamm and I want her to thrive!

What do you look for to gauge when she needs water?

Any other advice??

Thanks for your help!!

Would you say this is a White Butterfly? Or what is it?

Got it with no ID. The veins look pink-ish. Doesn’t look quite like the white butterflies I’ve seen, but not sure what else to call it. Any thoughts? TIA!

Mike the Micans needs help. Don’t let him down, Reddit!

Pics 1-5: taken today (8/9) while watering and looking the shittiest he’s ever looked. 💔
Pic 6: taken 7/19. this is his spot.
Pic 7: taken 5/24 just after moving him to this spot.
Pic 8: taken 3/5 in his spot in my old home where everyone was very happy.

I’ve had this beloved Micans, affectionately known as Mike the Micans, for four years. He started as a little 4” pot of cuttings and grew to be a real stunner. My plants all loved the conditions of my home: warm, phenomenal light (so lucky), decently humid, good airflow.

Then I moved and fucked it all up.

It’s a temporary move and I don’t have much control over the conditions. Our time here is now coming to an end THANK GOODNESS, and thanks to the help of grow lights most of my collection is unscathed… except my darling Mike!!! 😭

Here’s what he’s been dealing with:
- shit ass lighting
- shit ass lighting + grow light that was too close
- cold af temps
- uncomfortably low humidity (I don’t have the exact number but it’s bad)

QUESTIONS:

  1. What do you think this damage is from?
It’s appearing on all the new growth which makes me suspect pests, but I’ve been checking and checking and checking and checking and I haven’t found a single moving thing. I’ve started treating it anyway because I’m so paranoid.

  2. What can I do to help him?! 😭😭😭
We’re moving in about 3 weeks and all conditions will be dramatically improved. What would you do to help him limp along until then?? I just want him to make it!!!

Big but flimsy

My sister has this anthurium that has grown really big, but the stem seems weak/thin/flimsy, even at the base (second pic). We’re both new to anthuriums and not sure what to do about this, or if it’s even a problem. I thought I’d ask here to see if anyone can offer their advice—or their two cents! Thanks!!! 🙏

Resources for someone brand new to small tanks?

I’d love to join the party but I have zero experience with plants in water, or building and maintaining a beautiful tank like y’all do! I have a one-gallon tank I can use. Any suggestions for resources (books, videos, etc) to learn more and get started?

Thanks!!! ❤️‍🔥

Brought home a Home Depot rescue plant last night!

She was too pretty to rot in HD. Already looking better with a shower, some cautionary pest treatments, and fresh soil. 🥰 Anyone know which one she is?

Burtoniae bloom! 😍

I grew this Burtoniae from a single cuttings few years ago. I think she’s my fav for that reason! About a year ago she grew her first peduncle and this is its 4th or 5th (or 6th?!) time blooming. Never gets old. 🥰

Here’s hoping she grows another peduncle in 2026!

I also recently added a variegated Burtoniae to my collection and I’m hoping she’s as good of a grower as this one. She’s a grocery store rescue plant, so we’ll see! 🤞

My fav pot

She originally had a boobie cactus (second pic), which was just 💯, but then the cactus had to get top surgery. 😬 She’s still recovering, so now she has my first begonia.

Gollum Jade rehab - advice needed

A friend gave me this very neglected Gollum Jade and I really want to save her, if possible. I have lots of houseplants but this is my first jade, so I thought I’d ask y’all for your advice on how to best go about this. These pics are from today. When I got her 9 days ago I cleaned her up, potted her in fresh well-draining soil in this terracotta pot, and put her in a west-facing window. I noticed she didn’t have very many viable roots. 😬

Should I just leave her alone and see what happens? Do a big chop? A little chop?

I’m also conflicted about watering… I’ve heard you should water a jade when the leaves start to get wrinkly, but this isn’t a healthy jade, so I’m not sure how that changes things.

Lastly, do you think she’d be better off outside? These pics are from my north-facing deck that’s completely unobstructed and gets quite a bit of direct sun. I also have a south-facing porch, but it’s fully covered by a roof and surrounding trees, so it’s 100% shade. I’m pretty sure my friend kept her outside.

I welcome any and all advice! Thank you all so much!! 🙏

Will she ever bloom???

I’ve had this Krimson Princess for 3ish years. She’s grown SO MUCH but no peduncles in sight. She’s always been in great light—until a few months ago she was hanging in a SW window, and now she’s in an unobstructed NE window with a grow light (I moved and didn’t want to risk her dropping leaves, which I thankfully avoided!). Do I just need to be more patient?!
