Bill has interesting taste on horror so he's kind of a wild card, but I feel like Sean and CR are fans of the original? Craig/Rob probably? Van 1000% would be down, same with Mallory

Yes, this movie is kinda trashy and pulpy, but I also think its awesome and highly rewatchable. If it's on TV in October I'm 100% watching at least some of it. This movie just oozes late 90s early 2000s spooky aesthetic and I fucking love it. I think its at least in the conversation with Blair Witch, The Craft, Scream, etc in that era

Half assed internet research: The concept was supposedly a rejected X-files episode, and I think it was a neat horror premise (that they obviously milked for like 25 years) that has a genuine legacy. I'll never look at nose scisssors, a log truck, a tanning bed, or laser eye surgery the same away again.

Apex mountain Ali Larter, maybe Devon Sawa? Immediate post American Pie Sean William Scott in a kinda Bill Paxton Aliens-esque role?? Was this his Apex mountain? Most rewatchable: either the opening plane scene or the scene where the teacher gets excessively merc'd from the leaking mug, exploding computer, and then the whole butcher block falling on her and then her house explodes. Prestige TV version? Obviously theyve done sequels and prequels.

What do you say?? I'd listen to this pod

I love chewing gum. My personal favorites are trident mint bliss and trident tropical bliss. It gives me a sweetness kick, probably helps my teeth overall, and its just something I enjoy.

But now I'm super worried about microplastics. Given that I love gum and chew it frequently I feel like my brain is just all plastic now. :(

https://www.acs.org/pressroom/presspacs/2025/march/chewing-gum-can-shed-microplastics-into-saliva-pilot-study-finds.html

To be fair, gum is literally made from petroleum/plastic. It does make sense and its probably not good. Are we all cooked? I'm considering switching to like sugar free hard candy or just giving it up altogether.

Does anyone else worry about this?

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade episode : Sean hates the holy grail myth (????) and then they spent like 20 minutes talking about blimps/zeppelins as a mode of travel lol. Absolute golden episode

I just moved here in June, and now I've seen a skunk in my backyard pretty much every night and sometimes early in the morning. I'm sorta near carpenter/packard. Is this a thing? Is it a season? When does it end? What should I do? We sorta just mildly surprise each other and stare down for like 30 seconds and then each go about our respective business.

I suppose its harmlesss (I haven't been sprayed), but they do kinda dig up my backyard looking for grubs. Thoughts and prayers?

I forgot to label some of my dishes yesterday but I knew they all looked so different (HeLa, HEK293T, and MDAMB231). It was a piece of cake to identify them.

Had me thinking, you could probably make a flashcard/computer game of trying to identify the cell line just by a basic microscopy image. Would be interesting to see how many I could identify, almost like their "face". Suspension cells would probably be impossible lol. (oh look another group of spheres)

As a fun aside, what cell lines do people find most striking, identifiable, ugly, etc? For example. HEKs are just so small and you turn around and they are confluent. HepG2s look ugly and gross to me. BT474s remind me of rocky jettys or some sort of turtle phalanx. Other fun thoughts? I'm down the rabbit hole now

Looking for a new show and these have been on my list. I'm currently watching HOTD and loved GoT and KOSK. Just finished Widow's Bay (love) and enjoyed Wonder Man. Previously loved LOST, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, etc. I tried to start Counterpart and couldn't really get into it, and similarly with Star City it was just kinda slow and depressing (in spite of me really liking space stuff and I enjoyed For All Mankind.

Thoughts? Other recommendations? Lucky (appleTV) is also on my list. I'm good at giving just about anything a chance.

I've noticed the past two years at least they seem to air a Back to the Future movie marathon on TV during fourth of July weekend. Not saying I mind it, but what do people think? Certainly has summer movie feel but was just curious about this pattern. I was too young to see any of them in theaters but I remember watching them a lot during the summer months for some reason

- Social Network is honest to god my favorite film. Huge Fincher fan, the score, the writing, the acting, its exactly 120 minutes. perfection. This was a theater experience where after the first scene and then the hand covers bruise intro and then the coding scene I was like holy fuck this movie is operating on another level. This was one of my first feelings of wow how could they have not given best picture for this

- Sean's pretentiousness about inception blech, much much better than 6/10

- Shutter Island is definitely well crafted and I enjoy rewatching it, but I remember seeing this in theaters and being completely unsurprised by the ending and kinda disappointed

- I thought MacGruber was funny!

- Black Swan for best original, love that movie

- True Grit was so boring

- Can't believe Hot Tub Time Machine wasn't a hot pick?

- Frozen/Tangled/How to Train Your Dragon I'm shocked these werent picked earlier
