More for the rest of us!
A couple weeks ago I made a post asking about overnight oats as there would be a planned power outage starting super early in the morning coming up. And that day is today!!
Overnight oats topped w/ apple, banana and flakes almonds, featured on my cats tower as that is the only place with suitable enough lighting.
3rd pic is the goop all mixed together (^ω^)
30g Oats
10g Chia seeds
50g frozen blueberries
125ml milk
100g Greek yoghurt
25ml SugarFree Maple Syrup
Vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, walnuts, and apple

Oats cooked in miso + green onion
Topped with Corn, chicken and a Mayak egg
So thick was so so good .. used 2 “big bowl” sashes of quick oats.. I thought they were regular sized sashes so accidentally made almost double the amount I’d planned … + mashed half a banana and covered with boiled water then cooked in the microwave for a few mins. Let cool down then popped in the fridge overnight to thicken.
In the morning I added a splash of boiled water and a big dollop of Greek yogurt and stored until creamy. topped with a “protein whey drip” and eaten with a side of more Greek yogurt and berries
Perfect fuel for a long walk in the rain
woke up tired of my summer breakfast (yogurt, cereal, and fruit), went straight into autumn bliss with this apple cinnamon oatmeal, topped with more apple, blue plum, almonds, vegan nutella, and speculoos. we’re so backkkkk
I had more food aversions than cravings during pregnancy, but one thing that always sounded good was fruit with coconut yogurt and homemade granola.
Then, I gave birth 11 weeks early, my baby was in the NICU for 2 months and I had to exclusively pump for 3 . Anyone who breastfeeds has heard that oats is one of the best galactagogues (foods that increase milk supply)…. so I started incorporating more oats into baked goods, smoothies, and just for breakfasts. Soon I didn’t even think about the milk supply factor, I was just obsessed with oats.
I don’t discriminate… homemade granola, granola bars, oat bars, steel cut oats topped with berries, nut butter, and jam, old fashioned oats pressure cooked then enjoyed with brown sugar and milk, overnight oats, baked oats, as a smoothie thickener, where does it end!! They’re delicious, versatile, affordable, nutritious and they make me feel amazing.
Things got real crazy when my baby started solids and we needed to focus on his iron… in comes fortified baby oatmeal. As a more nutritient-dense option compared to AP flour, I started using oat flour to make him oat pancakes, oat waffles, baby puffs, sweet potato crackers…. He loves it too!!!!
Dark chocolate oatmeal with torched sugar-free marshmallows, biscoff biscuits, and a drizzle of biscoff spread :)
My husband went camping recently with a big group of friends. Since we’re vegan and they usually cook eggs for breakfast, I sent him with a big pack of homemade instant oatmeal packets. I developed these recipes based on a few examples I saw online and in cookbooks (both for bulk dry mixes and for just conventional oatmeal). They’re as simple as the Quaker instant flavoured packets, but way more satisfying (~400-500 calories each).
Apparently this was the favoured breakfast for the trip since it was so easy to make and they’re genuinely delicious. There are no more camping trips in the schedule, but I’m going to continue making these and other flavours as convenient breakfasts and snacks to have on hand. I divided them into individual bags, but you could also make one big jar and portion out as needed to enjoy at home. The last photo is of the maple brown sugar … obviously the photo doesn’t do it justice, it’s instant oatmeal!
I made some dessert waffles last week with homemade chocolate sauce and peanut butter chocolate fudge (peanut butter, vanilla, salt, coconut oil melted together with a couple chocolate chips swirled in, chilled then cut into cubes). I had a small amount of both leftover but no waffles, so I used it to top my usual overnight oats, also with banana and raspberries. It was incredible. This is my go to oats recipe:
45 g rolled oats
8 g chia seeds
175 g unsweetened soy milk
1 tsp maple syrup (or 1/2 mashed banana)
Pinch salt
Hi everyone,
I am thinking of getting into having steel cut oats for breakfast. They can take up to half an hour to cook, so I'm thinking of just setting them up to cook, and then while they simmer brushing my teeth/washing my face/combing my hair, etc. They can cook while I get ready.
Anybody else do this? Instead of making them the night before/soaking/instant pot ? I'm speaking of a weekday morning
raspberry egg white oats with vanilla Greek yogurt and frozen raspberries on top
Title. Wondering if the oatmeal fans out there know anything about this.
I made overnight oats last night around 9 PM using:
• 1/2 cup whole grain rolled oats
• 1/3 cup OATSIDE oat milk
• 1/3 cup Chobani Honey Greek yogurt
• No chia seeds or other ingredients
I mixed everything in a clean jar and put it in the refrigerator right away.
This morning around 10:45 AM, I noticed that there were multiple small bubbles across the surface of the oats. It wasn't just one bubble.
The mixture doesn't smell unusual, and I tasted a small amount and it tasted normal. The texture also seems normal.
Would you eat this, or would you throw it away?
I'm mainly interested in whether anyone has experienced this with overnight oats made with oat milk and Greek yogurt.
So I’m fairly new with making overnight oats. It appeals to me as something I can make when my son sleeps the night before, take to work, and eat with my toddler. However, I’m having a hard time getting the consistency I want. I love a thick and creamy oatmeal texture and typically opt for instant oats to get the texture I like, but I tried rolled oats overnight with milk, and steel cut with milk (but didn’t see you needed to cook sleep slightly before so it was super gritty), and I’m not getting the right consistency. Any tips on what I can do to get a better texture?
