Hello! I've been starting on my written event and have wrote some stuff. I wrote everything by myself, and AI detectors are still flagging my work. This is my first time doing a prepared event and I dont have resources from my school so please help. Do they scan for AI at provincials? Will I have to rewrite it to make it more human?

Title. This only just now starting to occur to me. I should have noticed earlier but it doesn't matter atp. For context, Im a sophomore who goes to a pretty small school (3 debate teams total). One of the pf teams other than us are sophomores and my friends so this is mainly about them. Because of this, we have to do all our prep by ourselves. This doesn't bother me much. However, it's completely unfair because I do all the work essentially by myself.

This basically started when our seniors (who taught us everything) told us we had to start doing prep by ourselves. I wasn't too mad. We all chipped in and did our part. Next month, however, we were really rushed. Our coach signed us up for a tournament last minute, so we were supposed to lock in. What ended up happening was I did all the work by myself and my partner cut a singular card (and pretty terribly too). This part is without the other sophomore team. I spent a ton of time getting the block doc and cases ready while my partner did little to nothing. I didn't really think too much of it at the time tbh.

The next month, my partner and I were competing again. The same thing happened. I prepared a shit ton of stuff and still got basically no credit. This happens during rounds too btw. I basically write his entire speech while he just copy and pastes blocks. He doesn't even read any warranting unless I explicitly write it. This is all while juggling my speech too. He then tells me after round that he cooked during final focus. Well no shit. I wrote the entire fucking speech for you. At that same tournament 2 rounds later, we get back our RFDs for the around after. In one of them, the lay judge said that he couldn't understand almost anything in FF. In response to this, he didn't even try to improve himself. He just played it off by saying the judge was lay and didn't know what he was talking about. I talked to him about it, and he said he'd try to improve. After that though, he kept basically doing the same thing. Its like he doesn't even want to improve.

I only came to realize this a few weeks ago. We had to do this assignment where we had to make 2 theory shells. The other team and my partner then had the audacity to tell me that they had tons of work and basically made me do it. I was actually baffled by this. Do you think I dont have a ton of work to do, if not more than you? This is not even considering my other extracurriculars. I did it anyway (it only took me like 30 minutes). I told them about them needing to do more work and they said they would lock in next year. I highly doubt this though.

Later, I asked them to simply cut a card for me. They thankfully did it, but it was cut so terribly I had to redo the entire thing. I dont think they can cut a card correctly, let alone make a case. And this is after my and my debate coach's repeated lectures on formatting and how to create cases.

Im just tired of this. What should I do? Should I just wait it out and see if they get better? Should I confront them? I don't wanna be rude since they're my friends. Maybe im being too harsh on them. Or I can just switch to LD. Any advice is appreciated!

Title. My school is pretty small so I have no one to tell me, and everything online is just making me more confused. If im writing a theory shell (ex: disclosure theory), should I do competing interps or reasonability? And should a counterinterp be CI or reasonability?

How competitive is EIP (innovation plan)? Is independent biz plan or esb more competitiv? I really want to make it to icdc and i’m from texas so i already know that every event will be competitive.

Hello! I’m really confused and no one does written events in my chapter. Can someone tell me the difference between startup and independent business plan?

Title. I was looking over each event I am still confused about the difference between independent biz plan and startup biz plan. Does independent have to be an already established product or idea. Is startup solely predicting how feasible a startup idea is? I want to create an app for my business plan. I've heard that startup business is very competitive, so I was leaning more toward independent. Thanks for the help!

Do you think that AI is fine for coding apps? Im only considering AI since I honestly don't know how to code in the slightest. Im mainly doing this for an extracurricular project, but it would still be cool if the app could get some downloads. Thank you!

Hello! Next year will be my first time competing in a written event, so I wanted to get a head start. I’m doing independent business plan for context. I know this may sound dumb, but what is the pitch deck? Like, do we have to present exactly what we submit for the pitch deck, or can i do a poster board? And does the judge receive a copy of the submitted pitch deck beforehand? Will they get confused at district if i present something that isn’t what i submitted for the oral presentation?

For context, I will be a sophomore and my school doesn't let us take a higher math in grade 10. I've heard many different things about the classes so I just wanted to see your opinions. Hello! I will be going into sophomore year next year and wanted some help with my extracurriculars. I want to go premed (neuroscience or biology) in college. I am a kinda high income Indian male and my high school is semi-competitive (sends very few ivies and T20s). Over my HS career, I expect myself to take take 7 IB courses and 6-8 APs. My school doesn't offer many AP classes because of IB & DE and we're also pretty broke. My rank is 5/512 with a 4.0 UW. My current extracurriculars include tennis (hopefully varsity next year), UNICEF co-prez, DECA state competitor, varsity debate (prez next year maybe), HOSA, Octathlon 1st in state, key club (almost 100 hours volunteered). Im prob gonna do something with Unicef like raise a ton of money. I feel like my extracurriculars are too general to set me apart.

And, will having an IB diploma help my application in any way?

For context: I am a kinda high income, Indian male wanting to go premed (either neuroscience or biology). I will be taking ~7 AP courses and 7 IB courses (projected over the course of my hs career). Some of my current stats include DECA state competitor, HOSA, UNICEF co-prez, tennis, almost 100 hours volunteered, full IB student (will get my IB diploma). My school doesn't send many people to T20s and is kinda broke lol. My stats are pretty strong (not worried about that). What do you guys recommend for my extracurriculars or overall college apps. And, does being from a smaller, less competitive school help me in any way

Hello! What summer program does everyone recommend for premed that I can do in the summer of sophomore/junior year that look good on college apps? Btw, I won't be eligible for financial aid and am not a minority (sorry if I phrased this badly). I would prefer something that is in Texas. Price doesn't matter too much. I just need something that would like good for applying to top colleges under premed (specifically neuroscience or biology).
