Some days I do wonder

I had a Rev G Dual Rectifier years ago I modded with a lock, for shared band practice spaces, and a theft deterant. The amp wouldn't turn on, if it was locked, and would have to be rewired to bypass it. I wired it before the "on" switch.

Funny story on the road, we had just finished a gig, and our roadie was looking for my amp? Rest of the band said "he handles his own gear, don't touch it". "So where is his amp?" My girlfriend at the time points it out to the rest of the band... "That's his amp!" "Well how can you tell?" "His is the only one with a lock on it!"

Years later, I sold my Dual Rec, in favor for a Laney GH50L at the time. I gave the kid I sold it to, the key to the lock. This was 15 years ago now?

Every now and then, I look through reverb, and marketplace, looking for a Rev G Dual Rectifier, with the front drilled out for a lock....

Anyways, enjoy your day and a silly story!

Barracuda Flanger

Went on a tone quest journey, based on recommendations of this subreddit. It was mentioned the Flanger pedal behind the famous riffs of Howard Leese and Roger Fisher on "Barracuda" was a custom made pedal.

Toadworks made a recreation of that pedal called the "Barracuda" I searched the used market, where it's a hard pedal to find, or expensive when you find one.

In my searches, I found an article from Guitar World "Toadworks rebrands as Ten Effects". Ten Effects still makes the Barracuda, just like they did as Toadworks! So? New pedal day for me!

The Barracuda is definately a bit different compared to a normal flanger. It almost seems like a phaser, and barberpole flanger mixed into one unit. For those classic Heart riffs though? It delivers the goods in spades! A very resonent flanger, and can get some other odd unique sounds.

Anyone else pick up a Toadworks or Ten Effects Barracuda?

Modified Model 2

Few years ago, I bought this guitar, because I had a rare red EMG Super 77 kicking around. Needless to say? Was a perfect match, and a good excuse IMO.

I was able to trace the history through reverb, where an owner in Spain decided to have the guitar refitted from the stock Kahler trem to a Floyd Rose, refinished in this off center bullseye paint job. Another owner added a James Tyler pickup, direct mounted poorly, and called it his "Jtal custom"... I bought this guitar, had to sand the cavity so the tremelo would sit right, and "float", fixing a few other things, while working on it.

Since going through it? It's been a killer guitar to go to, with a neck that still makes me miss my old Model 3 I had, and sadly sold 20 years ago.....

My #1 Modded Charvel Model 6

Jumping in the Model 6 train, here's mine. It was refinished by the previous owner and modded to be like a Model 5FX. I fell in love with the greenburst when I found it around 2011, that I just had to have it. Last photo is from 2011ish, when I recieved it. Had a Seymour Duncan pickups then, and the original JT-6 trem

These days, it sports a FU-Tone bridge, with a Tungston block to replace the old JT-6 tremelo. Pickups are an EMG Fat 55 and Maverick 5 in the neck. This has been my go to player for many years now, and somehow survived a divorce with me.

Have an awesome day!

Kramer "Shittop"

This is a Focus Mutt with a lefty Kramer USA neck. My first attempt at a veneer, that I messed up badly. Over the years, the top has turned orange in places adding an even more odd vibe.

Electronics are EMG 57 and SLV, with volume, 3 way, and a switch to bypass the volume knob. I have the switch, so I can roll the volume for cleans, and flick it for full volume again. Then switch back to those cleans as needed. Or a kill switch, if the volume is rolled all the way down.

Either way, enjoy a funky home modded guitar that was a learning experience for me.

My 1997 50's Standard in Ebony going on 20 years with me. I called it Lilatu years ago, sharing stages, and quite a bit of life events.
