I was reading a review of some web novels and noticed one thing. A lot of people hate "fillers" in webnovels, like things that don't contribute a lot in the plot, like let's say there was a small dungeon arc which did nothing but give a minor boost to MC, added nothing to the plot. People hate that stuff.

But I actually like these random adventures, like it makes the novel more free and alive for me. That's why I read wns cuz this doesn't happen in trad books. They have limited word count so they try to compress only important things in it. While I also like that, it often feels... restricted for me.

Not saying the people who don't like these "fillers" are bad or anything. They have their preferences, but it made me realise once again what I actually love about webnovels that I keep coming back to them even after reading many good trad books.

It's just so addicting.

Anyone who have same preferences as me?

Alright, so I like litrpg and also wanna write it. But the problem is, I simply cannot keep track of numbers and feel a headache just thinking about it, so how do authors go around it? How do they keep track of everything, make sure everything make sense and the numbers don't just go brrr?

And do the readers care about it?

Like, if he can enthrall NMCs, then why the heck did he put humans against Mordy? He let thousands die for what? Weren't we told the reason everyone is alive (reason for plot armour) is because Asterion wants humans in his domain for Apotheosis? So the same guy who values humans so much that he keeps those who disobey him in prison instead of killing them, suddenly throws thousands of lives away even though he has a better option?

As usual, it's about the Shadow Bond and how people are reacting to its return. We understand why Sunny chose it. We understand everything and just don't like it. Like genuinely, we are getting edgelords for being against slavery? The hell? You're all insulting others for having an opinion.

Yes, we can't reduce the whole shadow bond to just slavery but it isn't much different either. It's just "I'm a better slave because I chose my master and she's benevolent". Everyone has a single problem and that's Sunny being unable to refuse Nephis's command.

People use Kai's speech or Effie's one to defend but both are fundamentally different. Yes, both signify trusting someone else with your life and all, but you all have the choice to refuse. If I'm married to someone, I can argue with them if I don't like something, DIVORCE them if we are not compatible any longer. I chose that marriage by choice and I'll still have choice in it. What about Sunny? He has no CHOICE any longer. He is giving it up. Once again, we understand why he's doing that and I'll say G3 did a wonderful job portraying his character with the Shadow Bond stuff. But we don't like it and that has nothing to do with us being an edgelords.

Like, if Nephis says bark, Sunny will have to go on his knees and bark like a dog in public and there's nothing he can do about it. He has no choice left.
