So hanks been licking his paw for the past few days. Looked this morning and he licked it raw. At the vet waiting for them to start treatment. He’s getting a steroid shot, pills to take home, a spray and they are going to clean it up to make sure nothing is there. I feel terrible for not noticing it earlier. They said it’s not infected yet but glad I brought him in.
Update: at the vet now. They are going to give him a steroid shot, steroids home, clean his paw up and send home a spray. They said we caught it early so that is what helped him.
I’m going to be one of those people and ask if I should take our beagle to the vet. He’s been licking his front paw and now in between two toes he’s licked it red. I went ahead and put pet safe neosporen and attempted to wrap it(he had it on for about 30 minutes before figuring out how to get it off). I feel like a horrible dog mom for not noticing it. My gut says to take him in just for confirmation there’s nothing stuck or infected but also I’m like what if my pregnant mind is going crazy.
Recently I was doom scrolling facebook and someone asked if they should take their dog to the vet for what was a worm in the dogs eye. I was thinking well yeah that’s obviously not supposed to be there and it reminded me of a lot of pet owners asking on Facebook if they should take their very large amount of blood dog or cat to the vet or it has obviously a broken leg. Or their cat has a broken leg or tail that you can tell.
I don’t know maybe it’s just me.
So yesterday I asked my mom “does July 25th work for everyone for the baby shower?” I thought my sisters told her their plans for the summer or she would say “let me double check with your sisters”. Instead she goes yes that works. So we tell my MIL and SIL and husbands best friend (who all live out of state. They would need to put in a time off request and we wanted to give them plenty of time to do that or say hey that doesn’t work for me). I also told my best friend who works for USPS and she would need time to request off. I submitted my time off and so did my husband (husband was going to take off Thursday to Monday to spend time with his mom and put away things. I was going to take off Friday and Monday).
Well today my mom texted saying hey actually that day doesn’t work. We need to do the 18th of July instead because your sister and her kids are going up to Wisconsin (we live in Tennessee) the 23rd to 27th of July. I legit got so mad. I told my husband who texted his mom and sister. His sister was super understanding and said it worked better because her daughter starts a camp July 20th so they could leave the 19th and make it back home. His mom is furious with my mom as is my husband. I am too.
I told my husband if she tries to move the date again I’m saying no we will rent out a space and if you make it, great and if not it’s okay.
I just needed to vent. I’m almost 16 weeks and my mom was dragging her feet telling me a date so I just took it to my hands. I almost told her it’s okay if my sister and her kids can’t come but I knew that would start a bigger fight.
So we spoil our boy. He’s a rescue and he’s been ours for over a year. Because I’m pregnant we are going to try and still spoil him after the baby is born. What is one thing that is hard to explain to a sitter or how spoiled is your beagle now that you think about it? For us it’s covering him in blankets, taking him to daycare and having an embarrassing picture done after a nail trim.
When he gets a bone he will do this with his nose. We have found a bone in our bed under a pillow before. And a ball under some covers. He doesn’t dig outside.
