The story of how ONCE ARCHITECT changed the game for me

I've been playing Once Human since day one. In fact, I started as a mobile player and was determined to play even before the mobile version existed. I ended up using GeForce NOW just to stream the PC version on my phone because there was no way I was going to miss launch.

Before Once Human, I spent countless hours in games like LifeAfter, Undawn, Earth Revival, and other survival games. No matter the game, I always found myself spending far more time building than fighting.

At first, Once Human was no different. I'd design my own bases, experiment with layouts, and proudly show them to friends. Some of them were amazing builders too, but most of the time it still felt like I was building alone.

Everything changed when I discovered the Once Architect community.

It all started with the Wild West project on the SEA server. Instead of one person trying to create something impressive, dozens of builders were working toward the same vision. I learned new techniques simply by watching others, discovered building ideas I never would have imagined on my own, and pushed my creativity further than I ever had before.

Building in another region had its downsides—I didn't have any of my cosmetics there—but it made me wish we had something similar in Europe.

At the time, the EU building community had struggled to get large collaborative projects off the ground. When Jess suggested I apply for the Rising Star program and host an EU custom server, I was honestly conflicted. I wanted it more than anything, but I'd led gaming communities before, and they often came with stress, drama, and burnout.

After thinking about it for quite a while, I said yes. My love for building—and for creating something together with other people—was simply stronger than my fear of the responsibility.

Then I discovered custom servers.

Five territories per player. Overlapping structures and furniture. Unlimited building materials. For builders, it felt like paradise.

But the biggest surprise wasn't the custom server or even becoming a better builder.

It was the people.

Building together naturally turns into conversations. Voice chats become brainstorming sessions. Someone is always helping solve a design problem, sharing techniques, or making everyone laugh after hours of building.

Today, my favorite Once Human memories aren't boss fights or rare drops. They're walking through cities we built together, stopping to admire tiny details someone added, taking screenshots with friends, and knowing every building has a different creator behind it.

Projects like Stonehelm , Everbloom and Andromeda wouldn't exist without that teamwork.

Once Human stopped being just another survival game for me.

It became a place where creativity brings people together.

And that's the reason I still log in every day.
