Wanting microlocs but apprehensive

Like the title says, I want microlocs, again, but I am worried about traction alopecia and thinning. Some of that is due to age, I'm 41 and I'm on a glp1 and meds for adhd and hypertension. I am working on my health and hydration and vitamin intake.

I also have fine strands and not a lot of density. My hair is mostly 4C, maybe 4B at my temples, and a loose but kinky texture at the nape, and prone to fragility in the center/crown. The majority of my issues are solved and my hair has grown in really well and continues to grow well in protective styles and when it's styled so that I don't have to mess with it often.

I'm becoming more and more active going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and going skating a few times a week. I work a professional client facing job so I'm drawn to the look of microlocs and interlocking. I like the grid for styling. I'm thinking of getting some minibraids installed and letting them lock up and doing my own upkeep and maintenance.

I've had microlocs and think I over interlocked them and didn't dry them properly. I had traditional locs but took them out after a lot of hair loss that I think was from under eating and dehydration. Any advice or suggestions or cautions? I'm including pics of my hair and an inspo pic for braid size.

Thanks!

Legality question

Hello!

So I live in Maryland in case that matters. My partner and I have done a spiritual commitment ceremony and want to do a legal process now.

She has one must and that is that the date on our officially marriage documents on 10/31.

Is it possible to do that if Halloween is weekend? I was thinking of a courthouse wedding which would mean waiting until Halloween fell on a weekday. If we hired an officiant could we have our actual documents that legally marry us dated for Halloween?

Thanks so much!

Makeup after LASIK

I'm back. Sorry. I am a smidge over a week post lasik to correct-8 in both eyes.

At my 2 day follow up I was told I didn't need to come back for any more follow up visits.

For people who wear heavy eye makeup, false lashes, liner in the waterline, mascara, and all that how long until you got back into wearing it? Did you buy all new brushes and liners?

My sheet said to wait one week before wearing makeup but I've seen other surgeons tell people to wait longer. After years of not really being able to wear makeup I'm so antsy to wear it but also anxious. I'm thinking of waiting at least another week for eye shadow and longer for safety's sake.

I was supposed to do a full on eye makeup look this weekend to celebrate seeing and got too sick. Maybe it was a blessing.

Emotional after

Hi

I had lasik done 6 days ago. I was -8 in both eyes and currently 40. I wore glasses from 11 until last week. I'm seeing well, I'm healing well. I can see!

I'm happy I did it but I'm also sat here crying because I can see. Part of me is also sad that I no l Ionger have that connection to Velma from Scooby Doo.

I'm honestly not sure why I'm crying.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Human hair for braids

Hi! I recently took out a set of box braids done with synthetic hair. It was a cute style and it went well but I want to try box braids with human hair. I don't want micros or boho braids.

It has been a long time since I've done braids regularly or worked with braiders. Is box braids with human hair known by another name? What is a good brand of human hair for braiding?

Thanks!

I had lasik 7/17 and so far things are going well. I am sleeping in the goggles the office provided me and wearing them when I'm awake to be sure I don't accidentally rub my eyes. How long did you sleep in your goggles? I think I was told the first few nights but I see some thing

Sleeping goggles

I had lasik 7/17 and so far things are going well. I am sleeping in the goggles the office provided me and wearing them when I'm awake to be sure I don't accidentally rub my eyes.

How long did you sleep in your goggles? I think I was told the first few nights but I see some things online suggest a week or two.

I will ask on Monday at my follow up but this is faster and I like gathering experiences of others.

Many thanks!

Refractive Eye Surgery

Hi so I live in the Baltimore Maryland Metro area and want to not be so reliant on glasses for my intense myopia.

I am 40, will be 41 in the summer. My prescription is OD: sphere -7.75, cyl +1.25, axis 180 OS: sphere -8.25, cyl +0.5, axis 045

Does anyone else here live around that area and have had vision correction surgery? Where did you go? Who did you see? How much was it?

Thanks in advance

Deep Cover helmet

Has anyone used the Triple 8 Deep Cover helmet? Does it absorb sweat as well as the Sweat Saver?

I have a big head at baseline and have been wearing my hair in box braids and kinky twists but my helmet barely fits and feels like it's squeezing my head and has the thinnest pads in already.

Considering a Deep Cover helmet since I don't see myself giving up box braids for a while.

Wheels and floors

Hi and thanks in advance!

I know every bad skater blames the floor or their wheels.

Currently skating on a wooden rink floor with Bont 92A wheels. Sometimes the floor feels wet in humid weather and I can feel changes in texture between sections of the floor. On an older floor we skated on I could feel tape on whatever mystery surface that was.

I'm told that I shouldn't be feeling those things but I am. Do I need softer wheels so I'm less bothered by the bumpiness or is it just something to get over?

Loving this creation so far

I finally have a spare Addy to get to play with. I got a braid wig and it looks so good on her!

Now I wonder if I should send her to a friend for a face up.

Thoughts
