How to use corsodyl gel?

Hi, yesterday i went to the dentist for a routine Invisalign check up, they checked and said i had a bit of gum inflammation i think, and told me to buy corsodyl gel. They just told me to put gel on my finger and rub it on the inflamed gum a couple times a day but i didn't understand well, like, do i have to just leave it there and for how much time? is the weird taste in my mouth normal? can i put my Invisalign back on after using the gel?
