I thought FP&A was the “safe” path in Finance as Muslim. Now I’m stuck

I was pretty set on building my career in Finance.

But the more roles I research, the more I realize that a lot of finance jobs can involve things that I personally want to stay away from as a practicing Muslim.

Then I found FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis)

And honestly, I loved it

Budgeting. Forecasting. Financial modeling. Variance analysis. Business planning. Helping management make decisions.

And it seemed like the perfect combination of finance + analytical work without getting directly involved in banking

But now I have started looking at actual FP&A job descriptions and I have noticed something that worries me.

Some FP&A roles can also involve things like preparing or reviewing conventional interest-bearing loan documentation or analyzing interest expenses or financing options...Sometimes working with Treasury on debt/financing and supporting conventional borrowing activities

And that's where I'm stuck

As a Muslim, I try to be very careful about what I earn and what I directly participate in.

And right now I am thinking "If the main job is halal, but part of the job requires me to directly work on something haram, what does that mean for the job and income as a whole?"

So now I'm trying to figure out what a realistic career path looks like for someone who wants to work in finance without constantly worrying about crossing a line

I'm also about to move to Germany for a Master's in Finance, so this isn't just a theoretical question for me. I need to make a career decision fairly soon.

And honestly, I'm stuck. :(

So, if you're Muslim and working in finance/accounting in Germany or elsewhere, how have you approached this?

I would really appreciate practical advice from people who have actually been through this.

I am Fed up with this New AI job search feacture on LinkedIn :(

When I search for a job and apply, LinkedIn redirects me to the Chrome home page. Basically, the LinkedIn page I’m browsing suddenly closes

And when I try to use the old job search feature directly https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/search it just redirects me to the new AI search

+ the new AI search doesn’t even properly show hybrid roles and the keyword matching is way off.

What the hell are the developers at LinkedIn doing?

Don’t they test these features properly before pushing them to users?

I am really really afraid of starting a Business. And the reason for that is.....!!!!!

I have spent 4 years selling software development, infrastructure, cloud, automation and video editing services for companies.

Now I want to start something of my own.

I have technical people behind me who are willing to work, but there is 1 problem.

I am doubtful about my closing abilities and the reason for that is....

I feel most of the clients I work with are technical people. When they are on the call, they expect me to have knowledge about how to get things done.

And some even don't want to work with agencies as they consider it a hassle.

So, as a non-technical person, how do I deal with this?

In all my 4 years, I mostly used Upwork and LinkedIn, where owners would go on the call and usually close the deals. I was the one booking appointments.

So, any solution to this dilemma?

Guys I'm confused between 2 paths: Data Engineering vs Data analytics :(

I graduated in 2022 with a degree in Finance, and since then, I have been working as a Business Development Specialist. I was also using SQL and Power BI for data analysis, but to be honest, I really hate the dashboarding part....it just doesn't come naturally to me.

I really enjoy the technical side of things, such as data transformation and working with data pipelines.

Recently, I refreshed my SQL skills and built a complete data warehouse project. Now, I'm moving on to learning Python, PySpark and Databricks.

Is there anyone here working in the data field who can guide me? Am I on the right track, or is there anything I should be careful about along the way?

I am super confused between Data Engineering and Data Science?

So the context is: I have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, and for the past 3 years, I have worked in business development (sales)

Now, I want to move into tech because I'm really passionate about it.

So, I started learning SQL and Python. I have completed both, but now I'm at a point where I'm super confused about which path to take.

Some people say I should go into data engineering, but I'm seeing that the demand for junior data engineers is very low, and many roles require a technical background.

On the other hand, when I look at data science, I see many jobs, but people keep saying it's very saturated, which is demotivating.

So, what should I do?

Also, I'm the kind of person who, once he decides on something, goes all the way. But right now, I'm stuck and don't know what to do. :(

I have been in this situation for the past 2 weeks. Can somebody help?

Can I become AI engineer with my Finance degree?

For context, I completed a Finance degree in 2022, and since then I have been selling software solutions as a salesperson

Now, I’m really eager to learn tech and eventually work as an AI consultant in the future (I want to work independently, not with a partner)

So, is it possible for me to apply to companies and get a job so I can learn the stuff for a few years or do skills matter the most? (My gut says skills > degree)

Really eager to hear your thoughts :)

▲ 1 r/Upwork

How do I cover 2 skills under 1 Upwork profile?

As you can see, Upwork has removed the Specialized Profiles feature.

The problem for me is that I was doing well in both development and video editing, while my main profile was focused on development.

Now that the specialized video editing profile is gone, I'm not sure how to handle this.

Has anyone else dealt with this situation?

Should I create an agency, or is there a better way to manage both services under 1 profile?

I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I’m currently on the path to becoming a data engineer (hopefully)

I started with SQL and have completed a full data warehouse project. Now I’m learning Python and continuing to build on that.

I wanted to ask.....what should my next step be after Python?

I have already watched multiple videos and asked AI about this, but I would really value insights from people who are actually working in the field.

I want to avoid common mistakes and learn from what others wish they had done differently

I feel like I have already wasted a lot of time figuring things out the wrong way, so I would really appreciate your advice
