Stylish appearance, auto swing, good cost performance

As a portable air conditioner, it is designed for people who want proper room cooling without needing a permanent wall-mounted installation. That makes it a practical option for bedrooms, living rooms, flats, rented homes or home offices during hotter weather.

The F5 Series also has a cleaner, more modern appearance, so it does not look too out of place in a bedroom, living room or home office. For portable AC, I think that matters, because unlike a fixed system, the unit is visible in the room.

12K high capacity, fast cooling

The F3 Series is the highest-capacity portable AC model in this line-up, offering 12K cooling, meaning 12,000 BTU/h cooling capacity, for people who need more cooling power in larger or warmer spaces.

It keeps the same practical idea behind portable air conditioning: proper room cooling without needing a permanent installed system. This makes it useful for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices or any space where fixed air conditioning is not realistic.

It also includes a remote controller, 24-hour timer, Auto Mode and Sleep Mode, giving more flexibility depending on whether you are using it during the day, overnight, or while working from home.

For day-to-day use, the F3 Series also includes Auto Swing to help distribute cool air around the room, plus universal wheels so it can be moved between spaces more easily.

Maintenance is covered with an easy-washable filter, designed to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled. It also includes self-diagnosis and auto restart, which are useful convenience features if the unit detects an issue or if power is interrupted.

Another useful feature across the portable AC range is Wi-Fi/app control. Rather than always needing to use the buttons on the unit, you can control supported models through the TCL Home App, including changing settings, switching modes and setting timers.

That is especially useful during hot weather. You can start cooling a room before you go into it, adjust the unit from the sofa or bed, or manage it more easily while working from home.

During a recent photoshoot, we had the chance to unbox the A400U for the first time, alongside a few other products — including the FP2210SA0AMUK washing machine, RF442BSE0AMUK fridge, and TAC-FR12INV/R3 air-conditioning unit.

In true home appliance fashion, the model codes are incredibly easy to remember. Sarcasm intended.

A400U

This model brings TCL’s Wallpaper QD-Mini LED TV design into the UK range, with a very slim profile and a substantial improvement in dimming zones compared with lower models. The A400U offers 2500 nits (all sizes), an ultra-high contrast ratio of 25,000,000:1, and a higher dynamic range designed to deliver stronger highlights and deeper blacks.

This year there are a few different A400 options, and they do not all use the same panel or specification. Without going into every single difference, the key point is the panel type.

The Design

The A400 Pro and A400 feature matte HVA screens, while the A400M and A400U use panels closer to a standard HVA finish, so more semi-glossy rather than a full matte art-TV style panel. (A400U features HVA Pro)

Where the A400U sits in the range in 2026 is somewhere between the C6K and C7L. For comparison, the 65" C6K has a depth of 58mm, so it does not offer the same flush-fit wall-mounted design. The C6K also has lower peak brightness and fewer dimming zones.

So, if you are looking for a TV that offers a slimmer wall-mounted design, stronger brightness, and more precise dimming, the A400U becomes the better option. The set also stays very slim across the range. Panel depth is around 40mm on the 55", 65" and 75" models, 41mm on the 85", and 45mm on the 98".

The sound

The built-in sound system is Onkyo 2.0, so it does not offer the same level of bass as previous Onkyo models with 2.1 or 2.2 channel systems. This is partly due to the way the A400U is designed to sit flush against the wall. A deeper bass system would be more difficult to integrate into this type of slim design and could also be affected by the wall-mounted position.

For anyone wanting stronger audio, I would recommend looking at a slim soundbar such as the A65K, which features audio by Bang & Olufsen, a 3.1.2 channel setup, and a more complete Dolby Atmos experience.

The A400U also includes personal gallery features, allowing you to upload your own photos, artwork, and creations to display on the screen. It can act as your own home gallery, with adjustable margins so you can style the frame around your images.

There is also Ambient Mode, designed to help transform the room when the TV is not being used for regular viewing. With built-in scenes and sounds such as crackling campfires, gentle rain, and lapping waves, the A400U can create a calmer atmosphere in the room rather than simply sitting as a blank screen.

The air-conditioning units do not currently have a confirmed UK launch date, which is unfortunate timing with the current heatwave. I was hoping to have one set up myself by now.

As a gamer, the 27C2A will definitely be on my radar.

In terms of picture quality at 27 inches, with that amount of dimming zones, I honestly can’t wait to try this at home on the PS5. My PC is too low spec to really run 4K properly, so console use is where this would make the most sense for me. I've seen this model at the TCL Paris NxtHome -

The high DCI-P3 colour coverage is also something I’d welcome, as I do some design work as well, so having strong gaming performance and colour performance in one monitor is a big plus. (I use Macbook Pro)

The P2A Pro is more the kind of monitor I’d recommend to friends who are not necessarily chasing the most expensive tech possible, but still want strong performance for the price. For FPS players especially, it looks like it could be a really solid choice.

TCL has unveiled its expanded 2026 European monitor lineup, marking the next chapter in the brand’s continued growth as a full-range consumer electronics company and a trusted, professional name in display technology.

Among the products on display was the TCL 32X3A, presented in three distinctive colourways: Cloud Pink, Cloud Blue, and Cloud Gold. The standout for many was Cloud Pink, a bold and unique finish that brings a fresh design perspective to the monitor category.

The 32X3A has already earned major international recognition, winning both the Red Dot Design Award 2026 and the iF Design Award 2026. These accolades underline TCL’s commitment to combining advanced display innovation with refined industrial design.

These pictures show the difference between SQD mini-LED and RGB mini-LED backlighting, and why the way the light is controlled matters so much.

With SQD / QD mini-LED, the structure is very direct:

1 diode = 1 dimming zone

That gives SQD extremely precise control over brightness, contrast, and highlights. Because each diode can be controlled individually, the TV can manage small bright details more accurately.

With RGB mini-LED, each optical module contains three separate diodes:

• red
• green
• blue

In some models, multiple RGB optical modules are grouped together to create one dimming zone. So even though the number of individual coloured diodes may sound very high, the actual number of controllable dimming zones can be lower once those diodes are grouped.

For example, the 85RM9L has 8,736 coloured dimming zones, but because each RGB module is made up of red, green, and blue diodes, that figure needs to be divided by three.

That gives 2,912 real dimming zones.

Those zones are made up of 5,824 optical modules, arranged in a grid of 104 across by 56 down. Each module helps create colour independently, but two modules are paired vertically within one dimming zone.

The RM7L has 1,344 coloured dimming zones, which works out as 448 real dimming zones.

By comparison, the 55C8L uses 1,008 blue mini-LED diodes. Even with a similar or lower diode count, SQD can achieve higher control density because its structure is simpler and more direct.

Finally the 77X11L has substantially more with 11,520 dimming zones.

SQD can deliver more precise light control with the same number of zones - or even fewer because each diode directly corresponds to a controllable zone.

That means better highlight detail, more accurate brightness control, and a more efficient route to high-end picture quality.
