Considering ID.4

I currently own a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport and drive to work four days a week 23 miles one-way in stop and go traffic for at least an hour . I will be starting a new job requiring commuting five days a week even farther in the Greater Houston area for the suburbs 28 miles each way.
I am considering an ID.4 yo replace the Atlas.
Looking for feedback from owners in terms of reliability and tech.
However, a starting MSRP over $45,000 makes me wonder if I should consider alternatives such as the Tesla Model Y which starts at about the same price.

1026 mileage

We own 2022 and 2024 Tiguans and generally I am pretty impressed with the mileage we are getting, however, this week I had a 2026 rental and got 32 mpg driving all over New England.

2022 Tiguan Front Sensor Cover

I noticed a crack in the front sensor cover of our 2022 Tiguan. There is no other damage so I can only assume a rock.
Does anyone know if the cover alone can be replaced and the part# ?

Water pump class action

Just received a letter in the mail about a proposed class action lawsuit about 2018-2022 VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport with 3.6L V6 engines.
I haven’t had any issues with mine.
Has anyone had to replace the water pump or worse, the head gasket, if damage was cause due to a faulty water pump?

Textbooks

The current tuition statement includes $222 for textbooks. Is it worth it? How do I know if the professors even use or require these textbooks?
They are for two Animal Science classes and a Communications class.

Rehoming adult?

We have this axolotl that we got from a neighbor about 2 1/2 years ago. It is between 5-6 years old.
Due to work and our daughter being away for college, I am wondering if there are places in the Houston area that would take them in or someone who knows how to take care of them doesn’t just want a pet.
PS: I know the tank needs cleaning.

2024 Tucson CPO

Just bought a 2024 Hyundai Tucson SEL Convenience with only 11,400 miles. It was advertised as pre-owned but all I got from the Hyundai dealer was a printout of the 173-point inspection. They said that is all I needed but when I checked online there are two forms:
- Certified Used Vehicles Ownership Warranty Details
- Certified Used Vehicles Warranty Provisions Detail

I called Hyundai Warranty service and they didn’t show the vehicle as CPO.

What else should I do?

2024 Totaled value

My daughter recently got into a wreck with our 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Wolfsburg Edition with 31,000 miles. It was raining very hard and the car was hydroplaning and she spun out and hit the wall on the freeway. Fortunately she is ok and didn't hit any other vehicles.

The visible damage didn't look too bad but all four curtain and two seat air bags deployed. Not the front airbags. Apparently replacing airbags is very expensive and can cost $10,000-15,000.

GEICO totaled the vehicle and gave a value of $20,347. They will subtract the $500 deductible from that. Fortunately we are not 'under water' since we made a large downpayment. They claim the value is based on 'Third Party Value' which if I understand correctly is what I would get when selling the car to a private party. However, Kelly Blue Book shows a range of $21,530 - $24,430 with an average of $22,930.

I asked if I could appeal and they said I would have to hire an independent adjuster and they would also hire an independent adjuster.

I am not sure it is worth it but for I only see 2022 and 2023 Tiguans with much higher mileage for around $20,000.

Any suggestions?

If I give my 2-week notice in Texas (a work at will state) and the company says I have to leave right away, is that considered quitting or termination?

Would they owe me severance?

I am posting here since I have asked many times to be allowed to post in the AtlasCrossSport subreddit and no one ever responds.

I am trying to find out how much payload my 2020 Cross Sport SEL R-Line V6 4Motion can handle.

Internet searches suggest between 1.091 - 1,200 lbs which I assume also includes the driver.

I need to take about 1,350 lbs of tile (25 boxes) and I weigh about 250 lbs.

Is it safe to carry this for about 10 miles or should I make two trips?
