Welp, I got it! The camera hangs on ProShot LOG mode though, defective unit or broken app? Seems to do the same on OpenCamera.

I'm open to trying other apps if necessary. :)

It's been 3 months, how are your devices doing so far?

I'm planning on getting the Razr Fold, used to have a Fold4, then a Fold5, then a Fold3 for good measure and then just went back to an S24 Ultra because there's not much those foldables could do in terms of actual work (gaming for more than 5 minutes let you boil an egg on their backs).

Not only that, but (not even original) decent inner screen protector replacements weren't available anywhere either, and the ones that were available costed between 80 and 100 USD, and all of them sucked. I eventually got the original, glued by Samsung employees themselves. It unglued itself again in a day. They failed to apply them on both a Flip5 (my sister's) and my Fold5, fucking hell. I already found at least 5 decent providers of protectors for the Razr, so that's cool!

I recently got a Moto Edge 60 Pro for my mom, I knew and loved Moto long ago, from the G4 Play era, but their latest releases were being considerably lackluster. She (and I) fell in love immediately with that thing. It doesn't get hot, it's fast, the camera is a work of art, it's cheap, it never ever lags, and it's overall a great device, she's pretty careless and drops it like twice a day, not a single crack anywhere. I'm genuinely impressed.

Oh, and Samsung is removing Odin (bootloader unlocking and custom ROM support). While I'm not an enthusiast around these right now, I believe that I should be as free as possible to do what I want with my devices. Moto is planning a Graphene device and making huge strides in making this tech more accessible (and privacy-conscious), so I'll vote with my wallet.

So... here I go: how is your Moto Razr Fold doing? Did you face any of these issues?

- Inner screen protector unglued

- Charging port issues

- Overheating/constant throttling when pushed, lag in general

- Any hinge issues (not opening fully, creaking, squeaky noises, etc.)

- Cracked inner display (with no misuse/drops)

Also, any thoughts about video recording with the main sensor?

Thanks for your help :)

What's the cheapest way to get acess to Kimi K3? (NOT necessarily the fastest)

Hey there y'all! So I wonder if anyone knows of a cheap way to get access to Kimi K3 for coding.

I've already gone through the $30 free tier of API usage provided by Modal and the $10 OpenCode Go subscription. The first one lasted like 40 minutes on a long-horizon task and then I continued said task on OpenCode Go which lasted for about 3 minutes before hitting the 5h limit (even while it's currently as 2x), so quite depressing.

I was moreso looking for something like Openference but for this model, which they aren't providing at any subscription tiers right now. I know that they're suspected for using variants that have been quantized to hell and back, but I just need SOME accuracy, not full Opus-level parity, so it's fine. I just wanna try it mostly for its awesome frontend skills.

Any clues?

Extremely slow inference today?

Anyone else experiencing the same problem today?

For instance, I'm generating a plan and it's spending about a minute between each response after just using a few commands to read a bunch of small (<200 characters files). Then it stalls, waits another minute, reads another file and waits another minute again.

I'm using GPT 5.5 xhigh on default inference speed.

What the heck happened to my usage?

Bought the Max plan yesterday, went to sleep with 14% used and now I'm at 48%?

I also haven't left anything running overnight.

International plan on ZCode hangs "reconnecting", goes over the 10 retries and fails

Is this a thing that's happening to everyone else? I'm asking cause I'm behind a VPN and it could definitely be me. I'm using GLM-5.2 in Max mode.

I'm using the rate limits promo from ZCode but I'm also on the Lite (paid) plan.

PSA: if it seems too simple of a fix, it probably is

A few days ago, I came here asking for advice on repairing this set. The LCD could be seen working fine underneath so I assumed that the backlight just casually died and replaced it. I didn't bat an eye on the motherboard because why would I? Everything was alright.

IT WASN'T. The TV worked fine after replacing the backlight for about 2 weeks and then it started making that corrupted image.

I went ahead and checked all of the electronics within the LVDS cable and they're fine, the voltages are okay, there's no shorted COFs, there's no overheating components, nothing wrong.

Ok, whatever, maybe I made a microfracture to the LCD? Flipped it on its back to check, turned it on, the backlight flashed and turned off. Cool, reset. Another shorter flash and then off. Interesting.

THE MOTHERBOARD WAS WET! This dumbass didn't bother to check. But one of the corners of the motherboard where the LED driver runs had water ingress, and now it had temporarily bridged the current limiting resistor, sending 1 full Amp at 60v (default driver mode, instead of 40v @ 350mA) to the LED array. Not only that, but that definitely must've sent something around 60v to the LVDS driver, killing it and producing those lines.

In conclusion: check before you work. Don't fix the symptom, find the root cause and fix that instead, especially in this situation where the LED array hadn't shown any signs of wear before dying.

This one goes to the trash now, dead backlight and dead motherboard, these go for around 140 USD and the set can be purchased brand new for 120 USD.

Replaced backlight and a broken diode, TV worked fine for a month and now a voltage regulator whines?

What the heck... any clues about what could be going on here? I replaced the backlight LED arrays as they were dead, as I did that, an SMD diode fell off of the T-con board. Alrighty, replaced it with another 1N4148W (same specs, just a different package) and the set worked beautifully for about a month.

The only weird (possibly unexpected thing I could find around the T-con) was this capacitor that seems to be shorted to ground. Is it even worth attempting to do anything about it?

2 minutes ban because my teammates intentionally pick for a remake? What? Is this a new thing now?

[COMPRO] 500k - Huawei Watch D2

230 USD can now get you an "Acceptable" condition Fold3 in my country, and that's really cool!

I used to have a 512G Fold5 but ended up trading it for a S24U since I got tired of looking for means to replace the internal screen protector with one that adhered properly. The trade was fine and I had to put a little bit of money to get the S24U so I'm good with that.

Thing is, I still missed my folding thingy, but I also wasn't willing to go back to the messed up hinge of the Fold4 or the overheating crap we got over here for the Fold5, the Fold6 is fine but it's still around 1k.

Welp, here's my barely used Fold3 now, haha. The only downside is that they clearly replaced the inner screen and somehow got some junk inside of the hinge, so it doesn't really open all the way through. They said (in writing) to wait for next week for a replacement since we're going through the hot sale campaign and they're focusing on sales, but apparently they'll actually give me one that opens all the way through and, in any case, it's a folding phone for 230 USD so what gives.

Really happy with it so far. It's gonna be my emulators and gaming thingy. :))) and if it breaks.... eh, whatever. I've lost 230 USD in dumber ways through my life.

I figured it wasn't particularly relevant, but in case you're curious, my country is Argentina.

Oh! It also came with OneUI 6.1.1, so I guess whoever used it just didn't like it and stored it somewhere during these years, or maybe they just got a replacement motherboard on a demo unit? Idk. Should I keep it there or is it worth updating?

¿Qué opinan, debería meterme?

Me salió hoy la oferta pero no sé si endeudarme por un monto tan alto.

Based off of the suggestions from many users within the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectronicsRepair/s/XrKmQidq6N

I ended up checking both oscillators and lo and behold ONE of them was the issue! It wasn't even broken, it was just that the PCB glue ate away at one of its legs and broke the solder blob.

The issue in itself was the metallic piezoelectric resonator.

See my first comment here for the specific part I had to touch up!

Specifically, thanks to u/ngtsss and u/LordBBQX who pointed out the closest guesses!

This is truly wild. I've never ever had a remote control die, like actually dead processor. Seems like there's always a first.

Any clues as to any other possible causes? The LCD is fine, I've cleaned the rubber contacts, I've wiped the PCB with IPA, I've touched up all solder points, measured components and everything checks alright. The only thing I can see is that it attempts to boot and then crashes immediately.

I know I can just buy another one (especially a universal RC) but I kinda wanted to see this little guy thriving. It all began when it started to eat rechargable batteries like crazy (about 2 weeks of runtime) and after a few months of that, it just stopped working entirely. Won't complain either way, 12 years are good enough, lol.
