“Monday night at birdland” - couldn’t be more hyped after two consecutive listenings

Mobley, Morgan and Fuller all excel on this eminent live recording. Streaming from Tidal hifi 16 bit 44.1 KHZ FLAC recorded onto a Fuji DR type 1 cassette through an inbuilt Marantz DAC unto Marantz SD 45 II cassette deck.

Marantz SD 45 II in perfect condition

Tried my hand at finally grabbing a Marantz cassette deck. The late 70s models with piano key buttons go for big money usually and need belt change as a rule.

This 1986-88 model was an oddball at first sight but once I got used to the sound it’s way more analytical and midrange oriented than my other decks. Definitely a keeper 🤩🤩🤩

Latest catch … on a 1965 release 🤩

Surprised this blue labeled Prestige album didn’t go for more (10 bucks) 🤩🤩🤩

No real love for Spring by Anthony Williams?

This album seems to have gotten lukewarm reviews at the time it was released and isn’t highly regarded even today … are the critics wrong as usual?

Could not have been more happy 😃

Managed to grab one of these Philips CD Extras a couple of months ago and dang it’s an excellent type II (pure chrome or not 🤔)

HIGHLY recommended if you’re aiming at clear, crisp and inaudible hiss level recordings 🤩

Highly recommend this Coltrane collaboration with the always eminent Kenny Burrell

Swinging and sweet this is on repeat 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Too good to miss out on 🤩(Morgan and Mobley)

This album was released in 1956 titled “Introducing Lee Morgan” but here it’s named “Hank’s shout” (1969 France) which is perhaps a more appropriate title since Hank Mobley really shines on this early recording. Sound wise it’s not stellar but who cares when the mood is there…

An unorthodox post… this CD holds a lot of interesting outtakes by various Blue Note jazz musicians

Judging from the cover this double CD looks like it was originally released in the mid 60s. However this is the one and only release dating from the late 90s.

Need to go through all these tracks until I can make a final verdict. Is anyone familiar with this Latin tinged Blue Note compilation?

Blue Bash! with Burrell and Jimmy Smith dang it’s good…

The productivity among contemporary jazz musicians during this era is overwhelming and there seems to be an endless treasure to be found… 🤩🤩🤩

Burrell and Mobley in late release…

Odd ball this late Kenny Burrell release all sidelined by iconic jazz musicians.

Need a hand …

New to this RS sub … planning on placing a bid on their debut album how far should I stretch it ?

It’s a UK first pressing unboxed DECCA VG plus

Late to the party 🎉

This 1979 Bobby Hutcherson release of presumably mid 60s sessions sidelined by Herbie Hancock is an interesting listen jndeed. This got to be well before the fusion infiltration of jazz. Haters of Xylophone shouldn’t be deterred…

Don’t miss out on this Joe Henderson gem 💎

Those of you considering Coltrane the heavyweight champion give it a second thought 🤣

Uncharted territory

YouTube channel Southern Grails drafted his Prestige vinyl collection and lo and behold this Hank Mobley album popped up.

Highly recommended listen, this is an early Mobley recording

Thoughts on best albums with Pepper Adams as side man?

Love this album not only for Coltrane alone but Pepper Adams is definitely adding a dimension to this early masterpiece

Any suggestions where to go next?

Philips or Marantz?

Can’t figure out if this late 80s Marantz “high end” deck holds up to other 3 head decks or if it’s simply a rebranded Philips low budget deck…

From the Van Gelder vaults

Who knew of this 2020 release of unreleased material ? Mobley, Morgan and Blakey on the same album seems to be too good to be true 🤩
